In the Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde can be seen as an analogy of good and evil that is present in every individual. Dr. Jekyll (who is a well-respected and educated doctor) secretly creates a potion to express his vile urges without the sense of remorse. As a result of drinking the potion, he forms into a pale, deformed, and younger individual- Mr. Hyde. As Dr. Jekyll's journey of two identities continues, Dr. Jekyll isn't able to control his transformation of Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. His evil identity takes over his righteous identity and eventually leads to his death. Like Mr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, Cyberbullying can also be a form of having an alternative identity. Cyberbullies hide behind an alternative identity in order to hurt other individuals without paying the consequences. Although, it may be exciting to have an alternative identity, it is ultimately a dangerous idea because it is a catalyst to immoral behavior. Online media is an outlet for individuals to create a dual identity and act unethically to feel amused. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is an analogy of good and evil. He commits his own sins as Hyde and had those evil thoughts as Jekyll but when he created Hyde he was able to use Hyde as disguise to be able to act immorally, preventing any consequences towards Dr. Jekyll. Even though he was Hyde, he was still himself just without the conscious of good in him. He was able to split evil and good in himself through the potion. This is accurate in today's culture through cyberbullying. “Man is not truly one, but truly two”(Jekyll,Chapter 10). Good and evil exist in every individual.
