I enjoyed writing the analysis paper because I got to discover why Donald Trump is such a popular political candidate. It was fun to watch how crazy his tweets could get. I also enjoyed writing this essay because I felt like I grew a lot from last semester. Last semester, I never had a clear process or clear idea before I started writing my first draft. This essay I worked through my ideas and was not afraid to share them with others. In all writing classes before this I was very shy about my writing and I am trying to get away from that so that I can get help and make my essays better. I think that by trying to reach out and be more open about my ideas, I was able to make my writing a lot better.
I still need to work on how I deal with
quotes. I need to make sure that my quotes make sense and that I explain them properly. Sometimes I have trouble explaining the quotes because I feel like they speak for themselves. However, not all of the readers may think the way I do so I need to explain my quotes more throughly. I also need to find a better way to lead in and out of my quotes. I need to think of more creative ways other than, "for example" or "for instance."
“The beauty of me is that I am very rich” according to Donald Trump. His ignorance has lead him to do things that he shouldn’t being doing or has done. In the past few months he has been racist man that would insult people that are from a different race. When Trump started running for president he would insult and bully everybody in general not knowing the people’s stories. He made people seem like they are poor and have nothing to live for, Trump’s inability to see past his greed. He wants to separate the United States and wants people to think he is the best of the best; Trump should not be President.
Before the debate began, I knew what to expect for the most part from both candidates, Donald Trump would bring his intensity and Hillary Clinton would show her political knowledge. I was very much on the side of Clinton before, during, and after the debate. Therefore, I will be slightly biased towards Donald Trump. Nevertheless, it is crucial for politicians to use persuasive techniques to enhance their speech to a wide audience, in this case the American people. Trump and Clinton differ tremendously in terms of what they believe is right for the United States. However, both candidates used persuasive techniques in the debate to try to influence the public of their legitimacy to be President of the United States. In the debate Donald Trump
In this report on the website called Business Insider, the editor Bob Bryan uses a metaphor from Gregory Daco, who is the chief US economist at Oxford Economics, to analyze Donald Trump’s recent idea about international trade situation. In Daco’s rhetoric, he mentioned about the person is playing with a knife on a playground at first, which refers to Donald Trump, who is the president of the U.S. is doing something dangerous and harmful to the international trade, and he also refers the trading market to the playground, which also indicates that Daco thinks Trump does not attach importance to international trade and even treat it like playing a knife on it. After that, Daco also said that there are kids who might decide to be careful with Trump’s
Ted Cruz is a Republican politician. Cruz is a very conservative politician who went to Harvard University to become a lawyer before going into politics. In the year 2000, Cruz “served as an advisor on the 2000 presidential campaign of George W. Bush” (Mead). In 2013, Cruz became the senator of Texas and is currently running for president. “Cruz has become better known for his speeches and tactics than for creating legislation.” Cruz delivered a 21 hour long speech of his opposition on Obamas healthcare to cut funding and which encouraged the government shutdown of 2013. Cruz is also very religious and has clearly stated his beliefs. One of those beliefs is that “marriage should be between a man and a woman” (Mead). Clearly Cruz goes against
Christians are being persecuted more than ever and its time we put an end to it. Donald Trump gives a look into Christians in Syria, “You look at Syria, where if you’re Christian they are chopping off heads” (Trump). As a country we need to group together under Christianity because we are not unified. In Donald Trump’s video at Liberty University, he discusses how Christianity is under siege and we need to unite as a country and take back Christian principles. Many other topics are discussed during this video. Trump touches upon how we have a weak general who is not willing to attack ISIS, which is not good for our country. I believe that Trump is very influential and effective with the speech he delivers. He uses quite a few strong appeals and direct quotations from the Bible that relates to Liberty University where he is delivering this speech. Liberty University is a
The U.S. presidential election, top of everyone’s mind, provides ample opportunity to examine groupthink within the broader context of democratic change. The results of the most recent election give one a chance to reflect on the patterns that exist within the historical context of the last several elections.
American essayist, best-selling author, and former managing editor for Time magazine, Nancy Gibbs, in her op-ed article, “Will the Nation Succeed After Charlottesville Where Donald Trump Failed?”, published on August 28th, 2017, addresses the topic of cultural violence in America and argues that this increasing divide between cultures and ideals will only continue to break apart this nation if individuals, and even the President, can’t stand up and defend those who are trying to make peace in a world of idealistic differences. She supports this claim first by presenting a question by former president, Barack Obama, upon entering his presidency in which introduces this not so far-fetched possibility of a culture war in the United States, second
The Washington Post recently published an article that brought to light many of the degrading comments that Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, said about women in a conversation with Billy Bush. According to the article, Trump was recorded making inappropriate comments and bragging about how he kisses, gropes, and has sex with many women. After the recording of Trump was leaked to the media, he made a public statement apologizing for the comments that were made; however, according to the news article, instead of giving a genuine apology for his comments Trump pointed out the Bill Clinton had said and done far worse things than the comments that were made in that recording. Trump also used the term “locker-room banter” to describe
This is the first essay that I wrote for class. I was extremely nervous writing my first "college paper" but I ended up enjoying it very much. Although my writing skills and technique are a little unorganized and choppy, I can honestly say that this paper was the one that I most challenged myself creatively. It was pretty hard putting such awesome experiences into mere words, but I did my best. The paper obviously shows my writing level at the beginning of the class, but has been my favorite paper to write.
As media has grown it has allowed for easier use for the average individual. This paper will examine how Donald Trump has used the media available today and how effective he has been. To begin, Trump’s background must be looked at to gain an understanding of how he came to the place he is today. According to the Washington Post, he was born in Queens New York into a wealthy family and when he was a teenager he was sent off to military school by his father (Miller & Schwartzman). He grew up with a cushy lifestyle before his father decided that his behavior required somewhat of a “reality check” for the teen. Trump later went into the family business of being a real estate developer in 1971. Eventually he even starred in his own relity television
Over the past semester, I have found the most challenging part of this course to simply be the transition from high school composition classes to college. Because writing expectations are so different in college than in high school, even with AP and Dual Enrollment “college level” classes, I first found myself being overwhelmed with the pressure to write the perfect first draft. The pressure came from knowing how much a final draft of a paper contributed to my grade. This left me sitting in front of my computer for hours at a time with thoughts of what I wanted to say racing through my head, but unable to deliver these thoughts into organized, structured sentences. I learned, through writing my persuasive essay, that instead of trying to write the paper start to finish and already in its perfect form, it is easier for me to look at the paper through its different components and focus on them individually, then work to best organize my ideas fluently.
A good analysis is the foundation of every essay. Analyzing is a skill to be honed, it does not come easily. Over the years of many English classes, I have learned the difference between analysis and paraphrasing. An analysis is how the I perceives a certain scene, event, or subject. The main point of analysis is meant to state a deeper thinking or concept to the reader. It is meant to relay a certain message or thought in the reader’s mind throughout the whole text. The most important thing about analysis is that it should always agree with the main picture that the I am trying to send.
There have been over 42,000 gun violence incidents in the United States, resulting in nearly 11,000 deaths (Gun). For a long time the Second Amendment has been up for debate, even though it is one of the rights the Founding Fathers put in place. Back when Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson decided upon that right, guns were not as complex and powerful as they are today. With such advancements, does this amendment need to be reevaluated? When it is time for a new president to be elected, one of the first questions asked by the press is what their position is on gun control. Many people are passionate about this topic and they typically take one of two sides. They either get highly offended about the thought of the government taking away
After going through both readings the question of who am I has constantly popped into my head. These realizations after each essay have lead to defining who I am as a writer. What are my skills as a writer what thought process do I go through as a writer. This semester has taught me many new techniques of individuality not only in my papers but identity on campus. Even though the essay and the autobiography are written by women the message doesn't change just as gender or class shouldn't classify a person but it does. Just as college and school is constantly a struggle of acceptance not only socially but academically. The things we do group and classify us from being individuals. Writing is one of the few ways to truly show ones individuality through expression of questions and answers about the topic being written about. These questions we ask our self have to be based on everything read from the beginning of this semester on. And that main question is who am I and how does what I am reading effect or interest me. Writing a paper based on purely your own thoughts shows the true individuality of you.
This type of essay was the only essay we really did throughout high school and that was with AP classes in both junior and senior year. We may have written one informational essay, but we certainly did not write a rhetorical essay. This has caused many of the essays that I have written and really this class in general to be a work in progress for me. A “learning as you go” mentality if you will. This has also made it really easy to see my progress. I have gotten better at using better and more complex word choice. My transitional phrases and paragraph structure has become much improved since the beginning of the semester although I feel that I have ways to go. I have also gotten significantly better at taking an idea and putting an entire essay around it. These essays have also been much longer than I am use to. Most essays were only one to three pages with five pages being a one-time thing, which also was a several month process in high school. So, this class has been very much compressed when comparing it to high school. Overall, I can say that my writing has become much improved when looking back at my high school writing
