Donald Trump’s announcement that he was running for the presidency shocked many people. When he released his announcement speech I knew I would not be voting for him because I do not agree with any of his ideas or beliefs. His speech in general is flawed and all over the place and he doesn’t seem to know what his point is or how to get to it. I believe that he uses his fame and wealth to try to win the people over and claims that he is the best there is for this position therefore earning their trust.
Trump starts off by using flattery to win his audience over by saying that they are good, hardworking people who want to make the country great again and expresses his love for them. He then moves on to attacking President Obama by saying that

The only reasons and assumptions that would support his claims is the failing security of our current border patrol and laws, the amount of money we’ve spent in other countries, and that the outcome of that is that other countries don’t respect us because of that reason. There are no sources stated of where he collected his facts so therefore I’m unable to say for sure how reliable or current his statements are because he fails to tell us where he obtained his information from. He also lacks in using visuals, images and graphics to support his arguments. He tends to use a lot of fallacies in his speech, including; Ad hominem, Post hoc fallacy, Flattery, Guilt by Association, Oversimplification, Either-or-fallacy, and False Authority. All of these fallacies are present throughout the entire speech. My impression of this speech is that he rambles on a lot and repeats himself constantly never getting to the points he’s “trying” to make and he never shows truth in what he says. His supposed purpose in running for the presidency is to “help our country”. I personally think he just feeds off of fame and doesn’t want to fail because he feels he needs to be the best at everything. I don’t think he has the qualifications to make any of the arguments he’s making because he’s a businessman, not a politician and that’s very evident in his speeches. I don’t accept any of his values or unstated assumptions because he doesn’t give me any actual facts to go with the statements that he makes and states he can fix everything but doesn’t say how or when he will do so. In my opinion this speech and many of his other speeches show that he wouldn’t make a good President for our
In this paper I am going to discuss the rhetorical appeals, as well as the argumentative structure, audience and purpose set forth by George W. Bush in his September 27 speech in Flagstaff, Arizona. More specifically I will refer to the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos and logos, and explain how they are used to gain the support and attention of the audience and further the further the purpose of the speech. As I explain these appeals I will also give an insight into the argumentative structure and why it is apparent in this particular speech.
September 11, 2001, is a day that will go down in history and never be forgotten. On this day in time, Islamic terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City, as well as The Pentagon building in Washington, D.C. The terrorists, who were affiliated with Al Qaeda, were led by the one and only, Osama Bin Laden. Nine days after this devastating attack on our country, President George W. Bush addressed Congress with an unplanned State of the Union address. Bush used great amounts of tragedy with a direct vital tone to deliver a very important message. Ultimately, this message would reach out to the American people as a whole, not only for remembrance of the people who lost their lives, but also as a plan of action for what would lie ahead.
On November 2, 2004, President George W. Bush was nominated and elected for his second and final term of presidency. Throughout the course of his term, a vast amount of controversy revolved around the actions of President Bush. Some of the main matters that were significant during his first presidency were the issues of abortion, pro-choice versus pro-life, and AIDS, which led to a fluctuation in his popularity with the masses. However, even with these issues, the unforgettable tragedy of September 11, 2001, and the start of the Iraq War, Bush was reelected to President of the United States despite everything he had going against him.
George W. Bush’s “9/11 Address to the Nation” is a speech in which he talks about the catastrophic event on September eleventh, 2001. Two airplanes crash into the Twin Towers in New York City on this day, shocking the entire world. He addresses this speech to the people of America on the night of the disastrous event, to let the people of the United States know what is going on. This speech explains how the United States is a strong country, the motives behind the event, as well as to bring the United States together and stronger.
Due to Donald Trump’s lack of political experience, preoccupation with multiple careers, and blatantly self-serving intentions, he should not ever have been considered a reasonable candidate for the presidential election.
So with that, given the opportunity to express an opinion on a candidate with opposing viewpoints, will give a person great satisfaction. Here is a chance to explain why, Mr. Donald Trump, is a fear mongering, under-educated force and what that means for the American public. It’s hard not to be general when trying to explain which parts of his campaign are uncivil. It seems from start to finish the U.S. has been forced to hear his opinions on immigration, healthcare, war, and personal economics. He’s someone that says exactly what he’s thinking and, even though the thoughts hold little educational value, there’re so many that it’s hard to pinpoint when one idea started and how much he’s raved and ranted to get it into the heads of the public.
America may have just been conned by one of the greatest con men around. Mr.Donald Trump is a business man with no political skills or experience yet he campaigned and won the election for POTUS. He now sits in the Oval Office on the very same desk that many of the tests once sat in. However, the differences between them and Trump are not so subtle. Trump stormed his way through the RNC and gutted the DNC. He was in no way discreet or quiet about his feelings or “concerns”. No one took him serious or saw him as a threat. He was just the celebrity host trying to pull off another gig, or so we thought.
This primary purpose of this paper is to assess the rhetoric of Donald Trump’s inaugural address as it relates to the Declaration of Independence, American political culture and past political speeches.
The 2016 Donald’s Trump’s presidential campaign was initiated on June 16, 2015. In his campaign, Trump, the nominee of the Republican Party, announces that he is officially running for president of United States. Trump 's main concern is about the political issues that we have in our country, and how he as a president will bring back victories and success for U.S. As he mentioned in his speech: "I beat China all the time"(Trump, Donald) in order to highlight a personal fact about him to gain supporters on his side. In addition, he points out the problems that we have with illegal immigration, specifically at Mexico 's border. Based on Trump’s thoughts, not only Mexico but also South America are negatively affecting our economy because of all of the immigrants as he characterized them as criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. He assumes that those who crossed the border brings all their problems to the United States. Concluding that, "the U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s
Melania Trump Has something about her whether its her confidence or her beauty that just captures the attention of me and every one else. Before we get into Melania lets talk about how Trump walked out to we are the champions. I have been listening to people talk about this being pissed off. He hasn't even won the election and he's cocky. What they fail to understand is that this was the republican national convention he's not saying he won the election he won the republican ticket. Also I can see how this cocky attitude could be getting a little annoying He could be a little more humble. Melania is a very good speaker and started off her speech with talking about they're love for our country. Melania then began talking about how her love
In the summer of 2015, a large crowd begins to gather in front of Trump Tower, in New York City, as a large and powerful man stands in front with podium and microphone before him. Making his final words of his speech, the words "Make America Great Again!", are echoed across the crowd as Donald Trump has announced his running in the United States election of 2016. Looking at America's great past presidents, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt; one has always been able to pull the characteristics that allowed them to earn that privilege. For example, when looking at the first American president, George Washington, the American people always respected his intelligence, honor, and love for his own people. Now that America
One moment he was saying, “We must protect the borders from the ravages of other countries, making our products, stealing our companies, and dissipating our jobs” and in the next paragraph he drives home the point that, “we will seek friendship with the nations of the world”. Not only is his first comment vastly exaggerated, but it is also a direct contradiction to his second quote. Trump’s inconsistency (Logical Fallacies, p.5) is evident throughout and outside of his speech. Inconsistency is a fallacy that includes directly contradicting one’s self and/or the truth. This is dangerous for a man in office because his actions and sentiments are unpredictable. Also, Trump’s assertion to make good friends with other countries has not been upkept since his inauguration. By implementing the unconstitutional “Muslim ban” Trump has angered Americans, as well as people in the 7 countries that he has
Back in 2016, Donald Trump gave a speech to try to appeal to those who may or may not support him. He gives an in-depth speech to try to persuade the ones who are indecisive about their decision. The speech provides various rhetorics including logical and emotional appeals, repetition, and post hoc fallacy. These and many other rhetorics serve to attempt to give Trump more votes.
The event of 9/11 attack shocked the entire world. Everyone felt the pathos and sadness. These two speeches made by different presidents at distinct historical periods. There are similarities and differences following: they way they experienced the attack, the aspects they focused on, and the viewpoints about counter-terrorism strategies. Although they held some differences, they still considered the America has the strong power in the whole world.
In 1988, Donald Trump appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show to address and express his increasingly political views. In the interview, Trump stated, “I do get tired of seeing America get ripped off,” and that, though he did not want to become president, he potentially would if the US got “so bad,” (Donald Trump Teases). Though he transformed his political party from democrat to republican, Donald Trump’s viewpoints in 1988 remain remarkably parallel to his current opinions, for example stressing that the American population “should live like kings” in his speech with Oprah and, correspondingly in recent times, stressed in his campaign that “Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American
