In the book Freak the Mighty By Rodman Philbrick it talks about how you shouldn’t judge someone by their appearance . In the movie Wreck-it Ralph, Ralph is the “Bad Guy” and people see him as this mean guy that wrecks everything he touches, People judge him by this appearance, and on one wants to be friends with him, people just assume that Ralph is a bad guy because he plays a bad guy in this game Unit, he meets Vanellope, Vanellope actually doesn’t think Ralph a bad guy and Vanellope see Ralph real personally.
The character of Max Kane is first described as dumb, tall, and kicker . If we were to judge him solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is this tall, Big guy that instead of talking out his issues or problems he hits people or kicks them. In fact, when Max was first introduced, he would hit people in preschool, he vented games like kick boxing, kick keens, kick face, kick teachers, and kick the other little day care critters. This shows that he isn’t the friendly person and he’s hard to get along with. Max also had a thing about hitting anyone who dares to touch him.

If we were to judge her solely on her appearance, we might assure that she this old woman that not that nice and that she not the wealthiest. In fact, when Loretta was first introduced she doesn't say thank you to Kevin or Max for bring back her purse. This shows that she isn’t the nicest person because Max and Kevin went out of their way to get her purse but she didn’t even say thank you. Loretta also said that Max and Kevin stole the money out of her purse. This shows that she didn’t even take into consideration that they went into the sewers to get her pure. However we later see her helping Max get untied and helping him escape his father. This confirms our initiate judgment by showing that Loretta is a good person by helping Max escape his
An example of their adventures is when Kevin mouths at Tony D. and his gang, defending Max and himself; after of which he discovers that Max could not have fought Tony and incredulously questions, “You mean you couldn’t take him and I was giving him lip?” (31). Kevin’s words reveal his trust in Max. He incited Tony, believing Max would be able to protect the both of them. The boys’ next conflict, an encounter with Iggy, the head of a troublemaking motorcycle gang, and Loretta, his wife, show Max’s concern for Kevin and his wanting to keep Kevin safe: “I feel real bad for Freak because he hated it when people try to rub his head for luck, but I don’t say a word, I just run us home, thumping the short way back around the pond, and my big feet never trip me up because I’m on automatic, I’m this running machine” (72). Max is very attuned and sensitive to Kevin’s feelings, an important quality in a friendship. Also, his desire to protect Kevin and keep him away from Iggy and Loretta prevent his clumsiness from impeding his speedy progress to home. The conflicts Freak the Mighty encounter prove the boys’ undeniable teamwork and
...ane just did not know how to show this at times that were tough for him. Killer Kane still is protective, cares about Max, and wants the best for him. When Killer Kane came back to see Max when he could have been arrested was showing he cared and loved Max enough to be arrested again right when he got out of jail. Killer Kane showed that he is protective of Max when Loretta tried to untie Max and Killer Kane snapped at her to not put her hands on his son. He showed that he wanted the best for Max when he said he wanted to start a life with Max. Killer Kane just wanted Max to have the father figure he needed in his life. Killer Kane listens, suggests, defends. Is patient, loving and loyal. He would do anything for Max, He wants the best for Max, and protects Max. In the novel, Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Killer Kane is truly a loving father and he proves it.
When Max was younger, in daycare, he tended to “talk with his fists”, punching and kicking other children as he pleased. This was most likely a gene passed down from his father, with Kenny Kane’s violent ways. Once Grim and Gram took over parenting, it was clear that Max learned to control himself, or had become controlled by them. Either that, or his mother’s
Society tends to misjudge people base on their appearances instead of their personality. As it’s shown on Cyrano de Bergerac story everyone misjudges people. Cyrano was ashamed of the way he looked, especially with his enormous nose that made him stand out. People didn’t care if Cyrano got his feelings hurt they thought he was a cruel person. Its bad when people tends to misjudge people without even knowing them but they just judge them by their looks instead of their personality. People shouldn’t be ashamed of the way they look and it shouldn’t stop them from accomplishing their goals and express their feelings towards the people they like.
Overall, Ralph is friendly and active. He is not fat or skinny and is easy to get on with. The first impression of Jack that we get is that he is arrogant and dangerous, because the book brings him in as a shadow. He is very different compared to Ralph.
Why are people not judged by who they are but instead what they look like? People judge people without find out who they are, what are their values, or their upbringing. Instead, they are categorized as a particular type of people based on how they appear. In Malcolm Gladwell’s essay,”Trouble Makers” he tells of how wrongful generalizations are made on a group of people or things. While in Brent Staples essay,”Just Walk on By” he tells of his personal struggled being racially profiled as an African American man. Gladwell would respond to Staples argument that he is perceived unfairly due to the generalizations that are made towards Staples.
There are much more important ideas about your life and how or what you do. One of the key is do not be involved with a bad situation. Do not judge people of how they look. There could be people who looks dirty but is not mean and others that wears nice clothes but is rude like an example from sentence 3. In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, people judge the greasers being mean because of how they look but are not that mean and the Socs of how people believe they are amazing people because of how they look but get into trouble. Nothing will change if you want to change it or not and that is one of the most important theme because people wants to make the difference.
People tend to base characteristics and personalities of people pretty quickly. Most people base their opinions on stereotypes. Reginald Rose and his play “12 Angry Men” demonstrate how people are quick to judge other people based on looks. In the movie all twelve jurors must decide if a young boy is guilty or innocent. At the beginning of the movie/play-write, only one juror, juror eight, decides the boy is innocent. Based on the evidence gathered from the case everyone agrees the boy is innocent except one man, juror three. He eventually breaks down and tells the truth. The viewers can tell that this movie/play is full of emotions. Each of these emotions can be described as something more than what comes to the eye.
Is everybody born purely good inside? Or are we all filled with certain amounts of good and evil? In Lord of the Flies by William Golding a plane full of school boys lands on a deserted island, killing all the adults. With no adult supervision or civilization the boys descend back into the madness and savagery that is human nature. In Lord of the Flies by william Golding his character Simon uses spiritual power by finding out what the beast really is, showing how he failed to warn the others, how his use of the power affected the book as a whole, and how spiritual power is in the real world.
Throughout the novel, there are many judgements made based on only appearance. For example when Janie is entering town at the beginning of the story, the ladies on the proch gossip saying things like,
In the movie we learn that appearances can be very misleading but, that doesn't give us the right to judge a person by looks. For example, the Witch of the Waste seemed to be a normal woman when she first entered Sophie's hat shop. But, only to find out a couple of minutes later that she so happened to be an evil witch. This was just one example.
Max’s father, Killer Kane, is released from jail on parole, believed to be a changed man. But he abducts Max on Christmas Eve, and holds him captive. Without Freak, Max is helpless. “Like I’m paralyzed and my head is empty and all there is in the world is that big hand and this cool breath like the wind.”(Philbrick 100). Max is taken by Killer Kane because he lacks the courage to oppose him without Freak. But Freak the Mighty is soon reunited as Freak defeats Killer Kane with soap, vinegar, and curry powder in a squirt gun. Max grabs Freak and, with his enhanced physical abilities, escapes. Without either of them, the other would be
“Do not judge the book by its cover”. This is a very famous quote. But is really personal appearance not essential? (Elmer, n.d.).
In Bucking the Sarge by Christopher Paul Curtis, Curtis writes: “Things aren't ever what they seem to be when you first look at them. What's important is that you keep your mind wide open and try to understand what's going on from a lot of different angles” . Throughout history, society has used appearances as an initial and quick means of judgment. However, reality shows that appearances can be untrustworthy because of their lack of being able to show the true depth of a person or situation. In J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series, this idea of an initial, misleading first impression is shown and developed throughout many different characters and scenarios. Rowling takes characters who seem weak and makes them strong, turns characters who are seemingly evil into figures of heroic goodness, and creates situations that seem simple yet turn out to be inertly complex. The Harry Potter Series is skillfully filled with the exact concept that Curtis spoke of in his book. Rowling writes in such a way that the initial impressions of characters throughout are eventually challenged and refuted as the characters are developed more overtime. She expects her readers to recognize that outward appearances are deceptive and that it is important to look beyond those appearances and to learn to discern the reality of the heart which is not immediately obvious. This lesson is one seen and taught commonly throughout all different aspects of life and literature. For example, The Bible also greatly illustrates the importance of not judging people based off of their appearances as well as the idea th...
