1. Foreword
Over the last years, my interest in women’s rights has increased and I have been more and more willing to understand all of its aspects. When I had to think about a subject for my master’s thesis, I immediately thought about the theme of domestic violence in particular.
However, since I am doing multilingual communication studies, I had to find a link between that phenomenon and a communicatian-related area. That is when I thought about awareness campaigns and their impact on the increasing of domestic violence complaints. I realised that I did not really see them on television or the internet often, but when I saw them on campus or on street walls, I started wondering whether they really had an impact on women and girl’s decision …show more content…

First, I will start by the theoretic part that will consist in reading books and works written on the theme of domestic violence and awareness campaigns to properly understand both elements that are crucial to this research. Another important part of the theoretic research will be the reading and understanding of the legislation of domestic violence in Belgium over the last decade to understand its evolution and its influence on the situation today. After, I will read and analyse my corpus that will be composed of women’s magazines and tv programmes because they will allow me to have a general view of how domestic violence is considered in society by women in …show more content…

Injuries do not have to include physical but also mental. The cause of domestic violence against women can never fully be documented. There is the Liberal approach that violence against women is a rare occurrence and that it is only a small number of men who will abuse. They blame social backgrounds that form a cycle of abuse. If the father used violence against the mother then the child will see it as normal. They also feel that to push a man as far as to commit an assault sexual frustration should also be taken into consideration.
