Recommended: Life of Winter dolphin

Winter, a bottlenose dolphin who swims with a prosthetic tail and was named for the season during which she was rescued, makes her home at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida.� She was recently the subject of a full length feature film, Dolphin Tale, starring Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, and Kris Kristofferson.� The film is a dramatization of the story of her injury, rescue, and rehabilitation.� �The movie has served to further increase Winter's popularity as the main attraction at the aquarium. Winter was only three months old when she was found entangled in a crab trap in Mosquito Lagoon near Cape Canaveral, Florida.� She was first spotted by the crew of a small fishing vessel and was then rescued by a team from SeaWorld and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.� Winter was relocated to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to begin an extensive rehabilitation program.� Although Winter survived, she eventually lost her tail and two vertebrae as a result of her injuries.� The tail
