“ If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are an excellent leader”(Editors”). This quote, by Dolly Parton, shows that she lived a hard early life, but her singing dream did come true. Dolly Parton had three pieces that really held her up in life, one was her early life, and another was how her career started, lastly was her career. Dolly had very poor child early life. The meals she had as a kid she were very big. When Dolly was a kid she ate biscuits, and gravy, beans, potatoes. Sometimes once year they would get hog, but it would not last because of their big appetites (“Dolly Parton”). She was happy with any food she could get. She also got many awards and achievements. According to Encyclopedia of World Biography,“Dolly was the female vocalist of the year in 1975 ,and 1976 ( “Dolly Parton” ). She has many awards, but this is the best one. Two years in a row is accomplishment. That for sure does not happen often. It might have happened a few times though. According to St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture ,“ Dolly also has a Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2011 which increased the number to eight” ( “Dolly Parton”). It is so impressive how she got a lifetime Achievement Award. That does not seem like common thing. But if someone did do that, it would be impressive.Dolly has helped many people and has a entertainment place that is impressive. In 1986, she opened a theme park called “Dollywood” ,and it is located in Tennessee. Also it is very popular today (“ Editors” ). Tennessee seems like the place to be. In 1996, she started a program for reading and writing in her hometown ,and it was called the Imagination Library. This program helps give children at least one book every month from birth to their fifth birthday (“Dolly Parton”). Dolly is such a kind person. She has a lot of great top songs. Dolly got a People’s Choice Award for her song “Here You Come Again” in the year 1980 and 1988 (“Dolly Parton”). She is so talented at singing. After recording her song “Shine” from her album Little Sparrow, Dolly Parton received a Grammy for the best Female country vocal performance ( “Dolly Parton”). She has many awards for her songs, but this is very impressive. That shows a lot of dedication. Everyone has to work for awards like this one and that is what she did.
