Animals are great pets to have to be there for you through challenges because they are supporting and loving and they help others. They also care for you if your sick they would show you love when needed. Animals will stay by your side and try to make you the happiest person and try to make you feel loved and cared about. Every new experience can make a person change, sometimes the change is positive, and other times its negative. Animals are helpful, supporting, and caring.
In the story “Travels with Charley: In Search of America.” Animals are good pets to have because they are unique in their own way for example “This is a unique dog. He does not live by a tooth or fang. He respects the right of cats to be cats although he doesn’t admire them.” (Steinbeck, page # 145, pp, #6, Chunk 2). I chose this quote because the quote is saying that Charley’s dog is unique and are respectful to the cats for being cats even though

The reason why I picked this quote is because it is saying that the dog Max is like a hospital dog cause the owner of Max has a server diabetic and that if her blood sugars get low then he tries to wake her husband to take care of her that is the meaning that when having a pet they are very supporting and caring. This animal made an impact on the person’s life by keeping the owners health and blood sugar levels positive and keeping them alive and cared for and healthy. Some animals can be helpful when really
Henry was an extremely lonely nine-year-old boy whose greatest wish was to get a dog. His parents were busy with their work most of the time and it seemed that Henry did not have any friends, perhaps because they moved so often. A dog would have provided Henry with unconditional love - something in short supply around his house - and would have been the perfect companion. The problem was, his parents did not want dog, which would have been another obligation and something else to take care of. As emotionally detached as his parents were, something else to take care of was just not desirable.
In John Steinbeck’s novella, Of Mice and Men, a ranch hand named Carlson addresses a fellow ranch hand, Candy, regarding his old dog, “He’s [Candy’s dog] all stiff with rheumatism. He ain’t no good to you, Candy. And he ain’t no good to himself.” (Steinbeck 44). Candy’s dog is ancient and Candy and the dog live on a ranch during the Great Depression. It would be a hard life for anyone, especially for an old dog with an even older owner. The dog was falling apart at the seams; near blind, no teeth, and ached every time he stood. I’d imagine life loses meaning at that point, the dog wasn't enjoying life and probably hadn’t for years. Carlson, the ranch hand also states in regard to Candy’s dog, “Can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t walk without hurtin’.” (Steinbeck 47). Dogs are, by nature happy creatures and this dog was anything but happy. Naturally, this dog would have died long ago and honestly, it was the best option at this point for the dog. You know what people alway say, quality over quantity and at this point the quality of his life was
Compassion might not seem like a big deal but it’s something that everyone one wants and needs. When Curley's wife repeatedly tells Lennie it's ok for him to talk to her. This shows that because Curley doesn’t talk to his wife very much, so shew wanted someone to talk to. Curley is the boss’s son so everyone is afraid to converse with his wife. Another example would be Candy is heartbroken about his dog being killed. It shows that dog's or pets can show love and compassion, just as a relationship with a human. While everyone is in the bunk room Candy says " I ought to shoot that dog myself, George. I shouldn't ought to let no stranger shoot my dog (Steinbeck 58). The quote shows Candy had sympathy and compassion for his dog. Now the quote
The community needs animals for comfort. When someone is sad or angry the can get comfort from their animal. Animals help calm people down which is why they should be in the the community. Even though the community has feelings that are very confined compared to ours, but they could still use a animal to cuddle with. For example when Jonas gained the memory of warfare he was very upset and when he watched the release of the twins he was upset, so during these times Jonas
Steinbeck connects Candy with his dog in order to suggest that humans have created a society where the weak cannot survive. Earlier in the book, Candy describes his dog as the “best damn sheep dog I ever seen” (Steinbeck 44). However, in lines 9 and 10, Candy reiterates that the other workers shot his dog because “he wasn’t no good to himself nor nobody else.” As soon as the dog outgrows its usefulness by becoming old and blind, the other tenants team up to ensure its death, suggesting how society joins together to dispose of those who are weak. Steinbeck then connects Ca...
First we should consider a horse, an animal with various levels of excellence given to it by God. God gave horses not only a physical greatness but also a level of wisdom, these include how they should obey their owner. But horses were also given many human like attributes such as love and memory, these characteristics can also be seen in other animals such as dogs.
Many people consider animals as a part of the family. Pets are fun and can be a great addition to many homes. Although, owning an animal can come with many added benefits other than just having a cute and furry friend to play with. People who own pets, may see an increase in their overall quality of life compared to non-pet owners. Pets are a great way to improve the physical, social, and mental health of their owners.
Animals are viewed as companions, they could be there for you every step of the way, like if you are a traveler or just spending a lot of time
In this passage I stated that having a dog as a pet is a good thing. Just some dogs can be aggressive at some point. My dog is a Doberman. I have two, one is a girl and one is a boy. Any time someone walks up at my house and they do not look familiar to them, they will
In our lives today, dogs and cats are exceedingly valuable. They help calm people with anxiety, assist the sick and disordered, and aid the depressed. Although, thousands of years ago, dogs were domesticated by humans and put to useful tasks, such as, hunting, herding and guarding. Cats, however, were tamed for only one thing and that was to catch rodents. There might not be a lot about how they came to be, but hopefully that will change. Without cats and dogs in our lives things would be more challenging for most.

There are many reasons to get a pet. You could choose to get a pet for a companion, or simply to add to your family. Many older folk choose to get a pet after they retire or lose their spouse so they do not feel lonely. Many young couples choose to get a pet before they opt to have children, and many families add a pet to their home for their children. The question is though, what type of pet to get? Do you get a cat, or a dog? Having a dog as a pet over a cat is much more enjoyable and beneficial to your life, specifically because of their behavior, convenience, and loyalty.
The positive advantages of the pet and owner relationship have also been evident in the Mental Health Field. For example, having a pet tends to obstruct the propensity toward a negative self-outlook in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and ADHD and increases individual participation in their environment by viewing their surroundings in non-threatening ways (Borker & Dawson, 1998; Beck, 2005). Further, the benefits that pets provide has also been demonstrated to lessen symptoms of depression in AIDS patients, ease symptoms of depression and loneliness in older adults, and reduce suffering and anxiety in hospice...
This short article found in the magazine “Prevention” focuses on the numerous healing powers your animal can give you, claiming the bond you develop with a pet translates into health benefits through giving you a sense of purpose and belonging. The article proves these benefits through explaining how pets decrease blood pressure, heart rate and stress hormones, while boosting feel good hormones which establish love and comfort. They reference numerous studies including one at the State University of New York at Buffalo, University of British Columbia, and the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease.
Since animals, especially dogs, share similar emotions as people they to make great companions. Animals do show us how to love better, because their emotions are more pure than a human's. According to Mary Lou Randour, in "What Animals Can Teach Us About Spirituality", animals are spiritual companions to humans. She tells the story of a boy who, after murdering someone, receives a dog to care for as a form of therapy. The dog comforts him, and the teenager learns to love the animal over time. The boy's pet is "healing his soul" by teaching him how to love. Dogs give their masters unconditional love, never questioning the human's orders or disciplines. I thought the story of the dog appearing in the author's backyard as her dead grandfather was rather outlandish. All of Randour's examples of how animals influence our feelings were viable aside from the disappearing ghost dog.
