BAM! Dogs, now a man's best friend. The most common pet, thanks to wolves. Now let's go
way back in time before dogs existed. Now, wolves gradually evolved into dogs. A wolf and a dog
are the same species. They also have the same DNA. Hunting dogs are more related to wolves.
Some people long ago tried to breed dogs by changing their features. For example, a doberman
pinscher got most of its tail cut off. Now they have such small tails! A corgi has a natural tail. A great
dane has surgically cut ears so that they are standing up. A scottish terrier looks like it has a beard but
its just that the hair on its neck got shaved off.
After the common breeds got created, the owners gave the dogs jobs according to their qualities.
There are several that I can name. One is a st. Bernard. A st. Bernard job is to seek people who get lost
in snowdrifts. Hunters use beagles to help find animals to hunt. Back in those days, people would use
small dogs for digging small holes instead of using shovels. If you were a fisherman, you would
probably train your dog or dogs to go get your fishing net. Finally my last but not least example is the
eskimo. Eskimos are trained to pull sleds over the snow.
Some dog breeds got their names by where they are most popular. For example the dalmatian.
The name dalmatian came from a place in Croatia called Dalmatia. The weimaraner came from a place
called Weimar. The cairn terriers got their name because they hunted cairns. The jack russell is a little
different. They got their name because a man named Jack Russell bought a white dog and bred the dog
and named the dog breed after him. The basset hound came from the french word “bas” which means
low. The basset hound has ears that han...

Overall, dogs can be classified in many different ways. By breed, by what their parents are, by
talents, and also by their look or appearances. Many people are trying to create many other breeds. And
there are many breeds just that we don't know about them. Now such as in Africa, the people are trying
to stop breeders from doing selective breeding so that the people who buy the dogs can have the dogs
the way they want them to look. And if they want the dog to be bred, they will ask for it. Now dogs are
becoming more and more popular. But also more and more are becoming homeless. That's why there
are adoption shelters. People are trying at all costs to help these poor dogs. Breeders are breeding a lot
now and there are more dogs. Now there are so many dogs. Now the new saying is “a human's best
friend”.
Consequently, the dog we see fitting the classic mold outline in the American Kennel Club (AKC) Boxer breed standard is a bit different from the portrait we would see if the pup were allowed to grow up without surgical intervention. These procedures lie at the heart of a rather heated debate, especially in the Boxer world. Unlike many other cropped and docked breeds, the Boxer’s breed standard offers no choice regarding whether the tail or, most significantly, the ears may be left natural and still satisfy the
Basset Hounds came about in France and were developed by French monks at the abbey of St. Hubert who were looking to develop a breed with a powerful sense of smell. Therefore, the St. Hubert Hound was originally created. Eventually, this breed branched off. While one line became the bloodhound, a mutation in another line of the St. Hubert Hound created a short-legged or dwarf hound, which is now known as the Basset Hound. This breed got its name because of its close proximity to the ground. The French word “bas” means low. Therefore, the name basically means “low-set hound.”
Especially when, according to the American Pet Products Association, out of 73 million pet dogs, 31 million are classified by their owners as “mutts”.
The Australian Cattle Dog was thoughtfully blended with several different dogs including the dingo, which is native to Australia, to heard cattle for ranchers on the Australian outback. Originally, ranchers let their cattle roam the outback for months or even years to fatten up before rounding them up and taking them to the market for sell. Since this round up could consist of hundreds of miles, they needed a dog that could go with them and survive the round up. This is when the Australian Cattle Dog was born (Sunset 1).
In recent years it has been the pit bull which has come under the scrutiny of legislative bodies, as their reputation becomes more and more sullied by street crime. To say “pit bull,” however, is a vague reference to several pit bull types, which are considered separate breeds by registries like the American Kennel Club (AKC). Each type has a slightly different breeding history; many began with the breeding of bulldogs with terriers to produce a loyal, compact and tenacious breed (“American Pit Bull Terrier”). The three standard pit bull types most often mentioned by name in breed-specific legislation include the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. That is not the extent of the legislation, however, which also includes dogs that “substantially conform to the breed standards established by the American Kennel Club” (Melvindale)....
Furthermore, the American Kennel Club, as well as various other breed organizations recognizes both breeds of Corgi as members of the herding group. Until 1934, both the Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, were recognized as the same breed, which went under the name of the older of the two breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. In addition, these two breeds were bred to herd cattle, because of their low stature. These two breeds also participated in a sport called bear hunting, which the title explains, because of their fierce personalities. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is part of the Northern Group of dogs, which typically come from the Artic and other exotic regions. Some other breeds of the Northern Group, are the American Eskimo Dog, the Sib...
...and weight of the male Labrador Retrievers range from (40 to 45 kg) female Labrador Retrievers range (36 kg to 40 kg), and a long coat, science helps us to attain this goal by selective breeding program which may include 20 to 25 generations to get these domesticated specific breeds. . Science also helps us to achieve the task by continuously consulting with paleontologists to research the skeletal structure of dogs and compare the existing bone and body structure to previous breeds. In this regard, Associations have established strict rules and regulations for breeding as well as created a way to unify all breeders in a wide-ranging system in order to promote healthfulness and reward breeders who consistently produce specifically heavier, taller and with longer life span puppies for this purpose by adopting crossbred lines and standardized breeding practice
To start things off, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels had a lot of speculation about their actual origins. Many people think the Cavaliers are descendants of the Spaniel Gentle dogs, which were called that because women often used them as comforters on long trips since they are so gentle. The Cavaliers are toy spaniels, meaning their nose is shorter than the average dog. The cousins of the Cavalier include the Springer and the Cocker Spaniel. Many royals love this type of dog, and during the Victorian Era, the breed got really popular!
Every year an estimated 4.5 million dog bites occur in the U.S. BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) is a law that suggests that certain breeds are more prone to aggression than others. By banning or restricting the breeds in question, it is believed to help reduce the number of attacks. BSL determines which breeds are dangerous using statistics. These statistics cannot be relied on for two reasons. One, there is no concrete method to determine a dog’s pedigree. Thus, a victim, animal control officer, or owner is trusted with identifying the dog through appearance. According to Scott and Fuller, authors of Genetics and the Social Behavior of the Dog, “It has been known for decades that the cross-bred offspring of purebred dogs of different breeds often bear little or no resemblance to either their sires or dams (1965).” Visual assessments are questionable. Two, population is not accounted for. Population is important, in that it provides context to percentages. Because a dog’s breed is impossible to pinpoint, we cannot provide numbers. BSL’s cause is rendered useless when we consider these points.
The name pit bull is used loosely to categorize many “bully breeds” of dogs. Several breeds that are often referred to as pit bulls are the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, Bull Terrier and most commonly, the American Pit Bull Terrier. When statistics on “pit bulls” are taken, people are actually comparing a group of dogs rather than individual breeds. Several communities have enacted BSL, and many have repealed this legislation because it simply does not work. Topeka, Ks.
Besides, if wolves were truly as dangerous as people make them out to be, they wouldn't be so popular as pets; same with coyotes and fox. And, despite the rhetoric of "the wild animal will take over, and it will turn on you," personal experience with the latter two proved quite the contrary; both were loving, loyal and gentle. Furthermore, as far as livestock is concerned, a pack of unkept dogs can do just as much damage, if not more, than any wild animal.
The Corgi originated from Wales, first seen around 1925. To establish the corgi as a real breed and establish standards for the dog, Captain J. P. Howell created the Welsh Corgi Club. “corgi” in the Welsh language means “dwarf dog”, which is in relation to their short height of 10cm-12cm. Corgis were originally bred to herd cattle, their height was intentionally bred short to avoid the kicks of the larger animals. These dwarf dogs were often nicknamed “heelers” meaning they would nip at the heels of larger animals, which was a herding tactic. ("Dog 101 | Dog Breeds | Pembroke Welsh Corgi Dogs | Nylabone®.")

This being said, it is helpful to me because it supports other sources that speak more in depth on the topic. I would recommend this source to other researchers only as additional support, not as a source to base their research on. There are many breeds of dogs to choose from some of the most common are golden retriever, German shepherd, and Labrador retriever. Many people can pick almost any breed they are looking for though. The common breeds I pointed out are used because of their intelligence, willingness to work, and their mobility. The dogs that help are really filling a hole that these people have.
Because there are some irresponsible breeders, animals are born with disabilities and perfectly good pets are filling humane societies. These animals could ...
