How long has it been since distrust has played a major role in your life or someone else’s life: a month, a week, or maybe even a day? Whether you acknowledge it or not, distrust is a major factor and focal point for many vital events that transpire in our lifetime. In Ender’s Game, written by Orson Scott Card, distrust is a central leitmotif to the development of the novel. Similarly, mistrust and deception are fundamental facets in: our lives, the community, and even the ever-expanding universe. Paradigms of distrust and deception, playing an essential function in our daily lives, can be seen during the Civil War (1861) and the Downing Street Memo (2002).
In the Ender’s Game, Ender Wiggin, the main protagonist of the novel, is selected by international military forces to join a battle school, so he can save the world from destruction by the evil Buggers, evil alien creatures. Ender's brother Peter and his sister Valentine were not selected to join the battle school, and Peter will never forgive Ender for this. Ender's schoolmates hate Ender for his intelligence, and he is forced into brutally beating the leader of a gang of bullies in order to protect himself. After leaving his family, Ender traveled to Battle School where his peers and the adults inhumanely tested him. As a brilliant young child, he rose up the rankings to become the number one student of the military academy. He graduated out of command school and was introduced to Mazer Rackham, the hero of the second Bugger invasion and the savior of mankind, at the International Fleet’s command school. He fought practice battles every day against his new instructor, Mazer Rackham. Ender won all of the battles, even when the odds were heavily against him. Following the con...

In Orson Scott Card’s novel, Enders Game, at the age of six, Ender is chosen by Colonel Graff and the International Fleet to help save mankind from the buggers. However, through his journey, he experiences manipulation and deception from significant figures that surround his life. This deceit from Colonel Graff, Valentine, and Mazor Rackham is focused on defeating the buggers in the Third Invasion.
Ender is selected to go to Battle School in space because of the actions he has displayed against a bully after a device known as a monitor, which allows the leaders of the I.F. to watch and hear everything Ender perceives. Although Ender’s conception was predetermined (in this time period, families are only allowed to have two children unless stated by the government which is why Ender is often called a “Third”), he had to display the correct characteristics to be selected. Ender’s siblings, Peter and Valentine also wore the monitor, but neither wore it as long nor was selected because Peter was too cruel and Valentine was too mild. Once Ender arrives, he makes a couple new friends from the other selected children, including a boy named Alai. When Ender is alone, he plays a mind game and progresses farther than anyone has before so out of the blue, Ender becomes promoted to a group called Salamander Army, where he befriends the only girl, Petra Arkanian, at Battle School. As Ender continues to display his brilliance, he is continuously being promot...

After years of being monitored by government officials, Ender Wiggins, the main character of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, finds himself completely alone. The loneliness set's in as he finds himself in a new school, away from the watchful eyes of the government and bared to the world. He is a Third. This feeling of being a third makes Ender feel even more isolated, "It was not his fault he was a Third. It was the government's idea, they were the ones who authorized it - how else could a Third like Ender have got into school?" (Card 5). There was no one there to keep the bullies away now. Although he never really liked the monitor, he now found himself alone and missing the advent ages of having it on and knowing that someone, somewhere was always with him and watching him. At battle school, Ender knows that he will be isolated from the other students. Colonel Graff tells the other students of Ender and how superior his talents and intelligence is compared to the rest of the group. The other students don't like Ender and don't trust him. Throughout battle school, Ender is kept from his family and isolated from other children.
Some people believe that everyone is born with morality, some people say it is learned. No matter which way morals are given, almost everyone has them. In the novel, Ender’s Game, Orson Scott Card constantly brings up the topic of morality. Many years in the future the main character Ender is meant to save the world. He has to make multiple difficult decisions and many of them make him question his morals. Throughout the book, some of the decisions Ender makes are the right choice, but also hurt others. People will often compromise their morals in service for the greater good.
“The only way to end things completely was to hurt him enough that his fear was stronger than his hate (Page 211).” – Andrew “Ender” Wiggin. Fear and the power of fear are very delicate things. If someone has too much fear, it turns to anger. Not enough fear, and they have no respect. The book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card is about fear, especially of the unknown, and the controlling power it has.

After reading the novel Ender’s Game there are many surprises and themes. The main theme is life is a game; Bonzo, Ender and, Peter best prove that with many reasons like: cheating, patience, and enemies. Those supporting points mentioned above contribute to the theme of life is a game because it deals with traits of a game. No matter the circumstance, never lose sight of what one truly embodies. In Ender’s Game we meet Ender, a young boy who must take on frank and cruel command of many people.
Ender’s game is mainly about a little boy, Ender Wiggin, who is very special and talented for his age of six years old. He was noticed by a man named Colonel Graff, who at the time was the leader of a place in space called Battle school. Graff needed someone talented enough to lead the IF Fleet in the Third Invasion against the buggers. Ender joined Battle school really early for his age, he progressed and learned things faster than anyone else there. He was promoted all the way up to Command school earlier than usual. Soon enough he lead the IF Fleet into the Third Invasion and destroyed the buggers. Ender ended up being the hero and exterminating the “dangerous” buggers from existence. The book is better than the movie because it has a lot
According to Former Secretary of State Dean Acheson, a memorandum is meant to protect the writer instead of being issued to inform the reader. I believe that the quote by Former Secretary of State Dean Acheson is not accurate. This statement creates ambiguity because the primary purpose why the writer issues a memorandum is to inform the reader. If the purpose is just to protect the writer and not to inform the reader, just for the sake of issuance, then such memo is of no use. However, this paper seeks to discuss the relevance of both—a memorandum is intended to inform the reader and it is also used to protect the writer.
