The Disney version of the Rite of Spring and the Ian Stravinsky ballet are quite different, however, they do have some similarities. Such as they have the same music they do not change anything as far as the music goes. However their storyline is completely different. In the ballet version the story is that a girl must dance herself to death, as a sacrifice. But, in the Disney story, it’s completely different; Disney bases it off as the creation of the Earth and how the dinosaurs died. In Stravinsky’s storyline it goes from the Adoration of the Earth and The Sacrifice. Both include the introduction. In the Adoration of the Earth, the parts included are the Spring Rounds, the Ritual of Abduction, and the Dancing Out of the Earth. In The …show more content…
Sacrifice the parts included are the, The Naming and Honoring of the Chosen One, Mystic Circle of Young Girls, and The Sacrificial Dance. In the Disney story line it starts off with the bassoon playing in some sort of galaxy, then it goes on the music starts to lower there’s a red sky some sort of volcanos start to erupt.
Then, the music starts to soften up a bit then it starts to come up a little and at once there’s a large flow of water. The tempo of the music is all over the place. Later, some creatures start to appear in the water then everything changes. The dinosaurs start to come in the music starts to rise, there’s thunder and fights between the dinosaurs. Then the music lowers it’s all a desert like area, when suddenly a stampede of dinosaurs comes in. All of a sudden dirt starts to fly in, some dinosaurs get stuck in mud, and then the music starts to fall. All of the dinosaurs die out and there are only fossils left. Then, an earthquake like disaster comes in, water comes back in then the bassoon plays again. As mentioned before the two versions have their similarities and their differences. The biggest difference of all has got to be their different story lines. However, even though their plot is completely different they have a few similarities, such as, they both end with something or someone dying. Also the music and the musical interments played are the same. Other than this the two are pretty much the complete opposite. I honestly think that the original suits it better because of how moving the music is with the ballet. The rhythm of the music is perfect of the dances. While is Disney version
is good as well I find the original much more interesting.
The characters make a big difference in the movie and the book. One thing they both have in common is that Otis Amber and Berthe Erica Crow get married. And that Edgar Jennings Plum and Angela Wexler get engaged instead of Doctor Denton Deere. Also Jake Wexler is a gambler instead of being a bookie.
For example, Mama goes to the bank in the movie and is given a hard time about paying her mortgage, but this did not happen in the book. Another major difference is that the school bus scene, where the Logan kids played a trick on the white kids, was not shown in the movie, even though it was an important part of the story. There are some character changes as well. Lillian Jean, Jeremy, R.W, and Melvin are Simms’ in the book, but in the movie they are Kaleb Wallace’s children. However, the main plot difference is how the movie starts in the middle, summarizing everything from the first part of the book very briefly. Additionally, many scenes are switched around and placed out of order. Altogether, the plot and character changes contribute to my unfavorable impression of the
There is other little differences that I noticed added to the story that were in the movie and not the play. There are several scenes where Mother superior is interacting with Sister Veronica. Because of some of these scenes you see another side of Sister Aloysius that presents a more compassionate lady not so wrapped up in doubt. Although Sister Aloysius comes off as a strict woman that really has no sympathy for anyone or anything, which kind of makes you question how the heck she ended up as a nun. In the movie you can clearly see that she has a softer side and actually is hiding behind that tough façade she puts up.
...the two versions have significant differences and very few similarities, but this is understandable due to the two versions being tailored for very contrasting audiences. The Greek gods valued physical strength over love whereas modern society today values love over physical strength which has become an essential element of pop culture. Thus, this evolution serves as the foundation of why Disney had to make alterations to their plot, characters, peripheral details, and the notion of being a true hero. Without such alterations, younger audiences would not be able to relate to the story and therefore, not be able to gain a valuable lesson from it. In addition, these alterations allow for the movie to blend in smoothly with pop culture, where "love" is one of the most abundant aspects of entertainment.
In the passage by Igor Stravinsky, he uses not only comparison and contrast, but also language to convey his point of view about the conductors of the time and their extreme egotism. Stravinsky believes that conductors exploit the music for their own personal gain, so rather, he looks on them in a negative light.
The last section, from "Seid umschlungen, Millionen!" is repeated triumphantly in counterpoint. A dramatic hush, the music rises steadily. The quartet then re-enters with the following lines from the beginning of the poem: Daughter of Elysium
The Little Mermaid is well known to everyone, but which version is known best? Hans Christian Andersen or Walt Disney, both are very similar mostly because Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid was the most popular version of the story before Walt Disney.
Elements of this piece that helped shape a new musical language for thee twentieth – century would consist of Stravinsky experimenting with rhythm and new combinations of instruments. The way he uses dissonance in his pieces as well polyphonic and polytonal textures. His ballets were strongly nationalistic but contained rites of Russia in ancient times. On the opening night of The Rite of Spring, he caused a riot to ensue because it wasn’t like a regular ballet, it was totally different. It consisted of no ballet dancing at all, but more of a chant dance, the different melodies and the change in dissonance caused the ballet to be viewed as a frightening experience to some. Spring is something that is viewed as beautiful, light, loving and this ballet showed none of this, from the point of view of those who attended that night.

In both movies they portray him as a handsome young prince. The prince is also the one that saves Cinderella from her stepmother and the ugly stepsisters. In the old film Cinderella did not meet prince charming until the day of the ball. The day of the ball they did not know about each other and they just happen to meet when they begin to dance. Nevertheless, in the new film Cinderella meets the prince before the ball. They end up meeting in the forest when she went for a ride on the horse. The prince was out hunting, but when he saw her he did not actually tell her what his real name was. During, the movie the ball was meant to seek Cinderella. The prince was required to be married since he was next on the thrown. He knew who he wanted to marry, but he had to know more about her first. The ball was the perfect place to see her and show her to her father.
The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky is another ballet that is based on a fairy tale, and was first presented to the Tsar of Russia.
Regardless of how many versions of Cinderella there might be the story will be about a girl with a stepfamily who is evil and the girl will find her way to the ball and become one of the most prettiest girl, and soon enough the prince will come sweep her off her feet, which will soon become her life as she always wish for. Also, despite the time period it might be created or the title might be different the story will be connected to the original piece of Cinderella. There are similarities and differences in everything in life but the way we present it, is what it make it unique such as Cinderella story will be the Cinderella story but when one present it differently and it is single out from all the others then that is what it’s going to be famous for.
Even though the two versions are extremely similar, they contain slightly different morals. When the Grimm Brothers wrote their story, the world was a different place and children did not need to be babied. That is why they chose to write such a cruel ending to their version. In the modern-day Cinderella, there is a profusion of magic and there is no violence, which is a change from the original story. By changing this and the ending, children receive a different message from the story. However, both stories give kids hope that they will live happily ever after.
“Rapunzel” by Anne Sexton was a very different take on the fairy tale. There was not a plot or anything that related the original and the poem together other than they both had the same characters. Sexton used the characters to celebrate the relationship between two women, specifically women with a high age difference (Sexton). This story relates to the world we live in now because in this time, it is seen that more and more people are opening or being fine with the fact that their is homoseuality in the world and that is what this poem is about, celebrating
I would agree that this piece is of good quality. I am impressed, after some continued research of this musical piece portrays a Russia fairytale, and is designed for ballet (The Firebird, 2016). Another thing that makes this piece have “good” quality is that it is something many people and myself would find enjoyable to listen to repeatedly.
