We crave to know the unknown. Individuals, set out on adventures to discover the world and themselves. They search for their perfect reality. In the book, Into the wild, Chris McCandless is one of those people. Mccandless rids of his belongings and sets out for an adventure in the Alaskan wilderness, only to end in a disaster. Mccandless thought he could make it by living on the road, but life on the road isnt for everyone. It has advantages and disadvantages. Easy mistakes could take your life, such as it for mccandless. There are many disadvantages while living on the road. You just know mother nature to survive live properly. We live in a generation that depends on ready made items. We have access to pretty much anything at our fingertips. We are not taught to properly live off the land. Being unprepared is a very big disadvantage. Individuals, such a McCandless can make a simple mistake that can take their life. When living in the wilderness, sources of food are very limited. Not all items are edible, which is what lead to McCandless's death.
Another disadvantage is underestimating mother nature. Besides the low amount of food source, shelter and weapons are limited as well. The shelter and weapons must be handmade if not prepared. Without shelter, you are exposed to some of the harsh weather conditions and animals in the area. Luckily for McCandless, he had found an abandoned bus for shelter.
