Digital Video is everywhere but people don’t recognize the importance of the video in today’s society. It has been used in various ways to help form the industry. Digital Video has had a fast-paced history, has a variety of uses, and it helps with education.
Digital History:
Digital video is a type of digital recording system that works by using a digital rather than an analog video signal. It was used for the ease of sharing and storing, no degradation of data quality when copied, being easy and inexpensive copying, and its capacity for multicasting.
In the later 70s to the early 80s, multiple types of video production equipment that were digital were introduced. Some examples are time base correctors (TBC) and digital video effects (DVE) units. Digital video was first introduced commercially in 1986 by Sony with D1 format. D1 format was mainly used by television networks and component-video capable video studios.
Sony and Ampex released the D2 format in 1988. D2 was used in the 1980s and the 1990s with TV industries. PACo: The PICS Animation Compiler, was one of the first digital video programs to run on computers.
Uses of Digital Video:
Thousands of places use digital video, from marketing to education, digital video can be used to express the way society works.

In 1985, television was a platform to use for educational purposes and entertainment. It did teach our youth that teaching and learning could be both fun and educational. With new developing technologies, it is only natural for our culture of education to develop. Although the format of education changes, change is not a bad thing. I see images, video, music, and all media as tools for our youth to learn. Making viewers and users aware of the impacts is necessary to inform the generation to

The purpose of this research assignment is to put forward a convincing argument in how digital technology in the last four years have completely revolutionised the whole film industry. This thesis will attempt to focus on the main disciplines of film making and the impact that technology has had on each area. Firstly, this article will look at recent changes in the pre-production area of film making followed by what new equipment and storage facilities are being used during film production. Next is arguable the biggest transformation in the film industry as a result of technology, namely the post production stage. New methods of film distribution are explored followed by the negative impact that technology has had on the film industry with the main focus being on the illegal distribution of copyrighted film footage. New ways in post-theatre film distribution is also explored and the impact that continual break-through technologies are having on the education and training of professionals working within the film industry. Finally an examination of the impact of computer generated graphics on the film industry is concluded by a brief discussion on what the future may hold for the film industry.
Many young people today are learning about their world through electronic means – radio, television, video movies, computer games, virtual reality games and the Internet. In particular the visual environment of the electronic media is greatly attracting the print media in all its forms. How many children read comic books these days? Most would rather watch cartoons, or play arcade games or hand-held video games. We will be focusing on cinema and how it has culturally played a role in society.
One example would be that a student in astronomy could learn about the solar system. How it works by touching planets, see the stars, and move into the space, track progress of a comet and more. This also allows them to see how concept work in the virtual environment. This is useful for students who have some particular learning ways, creative or those who find it easier to learn using colors, textures and symbols (Virtual Reality, 2009).
Perhaps the strongest foundation for media education rests in the fact that increased awareness of media transforms students from passive to active participants in society. Learners must be offered hands-on application opportunities to increase their own knowledge and enjoyment of the media. The integration of formal media analysis with media production is an essential constituent of media literacy. Creative ventures, such as television or radio production, the development of a rock video or song, photography classes, script-writing, web-page development, or hypertext projects should be made available for students' participation and perusal. Students must be exposed to various forms of communication before they can recognize logical disparities, determine the strength of an argument, evaluate mass media, and actively join our democratic society as partners.
Finally, observing the traditional organizations and how they used to associate themselves to the physical forms by which they distributed their products – television broadcasting company, radio broadcasting company, newspaper, book or magazine publisher. Recently, these media firms had to restructure their business in order to be successful in this digital world. Hence, they had to widen their delivery medium rather than limiting it, and be exploiters of content wherever content is available to be exploited.
The Whirlwind computer had a video display that was controlled interactively by a light gun. The display attracted users much more than computer code. The Whirlwind computer became the basis for SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment), a defense command-and-control system developed for the Air force. In the 1960s Ivan Sutherland’s MIT doctoral thesis introduced a Sketchpad interactive drawing system, which established the theoretical groundwork for computer graphics software (Machover 14). In the mid-1960s, computer graphics was booming in private industry. General Motors had released DAC-1 a computer-aided design system, and Itek developed the Digigraphics electronic drafting machine. By the late 1960s the first storage-tube display terminals appeared, shortly followed by direct-view storage tube display terminals (DVST) which cost thousands of dollars; however this was an improvement to the tens to hundreds of thousands spent initially for display systems. In the 1970s Turnkey systems emerged, beforehand users had to develop software to make their hardware work however turnkey systems provided a haven to users from software issues. Bit-mapped raster displays developed as memory...

In modern society technology runs the world and the same applies to advertising and a company’s success because social media can spread the word fast and get your business recognized by a lot more consumers. Social media is "A unique opportunity for companies to stay on top of mind with current customers and get on the radar of new customers on their preferred platform." (Zeckman) Social media has a positive impact on businesses because Zeckman claimed that due to the rise in social media, more businesses can become closer to their customers and develop the trust and security that they are the right brand for their customers. In addition, Zeckman stated all businesses can use social media to their advantage by social media to get customers more interested and thinking about their product and to get new customers drawn in by ads that if we’re not posted some people would have never heard of the business. In connection it has been shown in research and surveys that social media has a very important effect on modern businesses and Ashely Zeckman continues to support this because in her article she states that "70% of marketers found that social media activities increased traffic to their website while 75% of businesses engaging
