Recommended: Impact of digital technology on society

In this essay, I will be speaking on the convergence of digital technologies, and I will be discussing the short-to-medium term impacts from a social perspective in terms on how the convergence of digital technologies affects society and human beings in general, looking at some of the positive and negative aspects. Furthermore, I will be defining what convergence means, elaborating more on digital technologies, the convergence of digital technologies, types of convergence and social perspectives. Convergence, the digital takeover of communication and information, creates a new form of interchangeability and interconnectedness among different media types. Digitized information is recorded in the binary code of blending of the digits 0 and 1, also referred to as bits, which represent words and images. Digital technology allows extensive amounts of information to be densified on small storage devices that can be easily conserved and transported. Digitization also fastens data transmission speeds. Another definition of Digital technology is the branch of scientific or engineering knowledge that compromise with the creation and practical use of digital device, methods, and systems. Devices that process and use digital information include personal computers, calculators, automobiles, compact disc players, cell phones, communication satellites, and high-definition television sets. Digital technology has changed how people communicate, learn, and work. The term digital technology is used to introduce the ever-evolving ensemble of digital software, hardware, and architecture used in learning and teaching in the school, home and moreover. Digital technologies have changed communication in the modern society, an innovation so speedily integrated into our lives that we can really recall how we used to make phone calls or exchange messages back in the analog days. The internet and cell phones are the two most valid examples of the influence of the information age. In the last 30 year, the rise of globalization and the domination of free-market capitalism has been seen, also seen is the increasing pervasiveness of information and communication technologies, and the blossom of power and influence of technological science.
