Differences And Similarities Between 'Elizabeth And The Crucible'

The Crucible in 1692 and 1693 was a berserk time period! People were being falsely accused of being witches or accused of knowing of witchcraft. Some people were hung in front of the whole town if they were accused to be involved with witchcraft. Everyone was super gullible. They were gullible because this was a Puritan time period, and mostly it were kids accusing adults of witchcraft. Kids in the eyes of puritans were innocent and could not or would not lie. If someone were to say that a particular person were a witch most people would believe it actually. The systems were not evenly weighted either. The defendant was likely to be hanged because witches were a main point during this time period. If one were to be accused they were probably going to believe it

especially if a child accused an adult.
John Proctor was a noble and honorable man up until now.

The written play portrayed procter better than the movie play. In the movie it shows John proctor presents the petition to Danforth, but in the play he gives the petition to the nurse. Also proctor is betrayed as a harsh character. In the movie he asks abigail “ do you look for a whippin.” In the movie it does not say that. Things were fine in this little village or town called Salem until everything spiraled out of control. John Proctor had a wife named Elizabeth, and two kids named Benjamin and William. Proctor owned an estate in salem, he had a nice house, a loving family, and a good name with the community. Until one day some of the girls from the village snuck out and went to the woods to dance. His babysitter - house sitter was part of the dancing in the woods. That is where proctor’s life started to unfold. He was an honest man so the town thought. He had lusted with Abigail Williams and kept it a secret from everyone. Proctor was trying to save his wife after Abigail had basically set up Elizabeth with a poppet that she gave her. Proctor would eventually be arrested and hung after trying to save his wife from being condemned as a

witch.
The characters were all the same except a few. They all believed in the same thing as in innocent children, God does everything, and evil is pretty much everything that they say isn't okay. Everyone owned a house on some type of estate and everyone talked. Really it’s sorta the same as society today minus all the religious outlook. The outliers of the story weren’t really involved besides Martha corey, Giles corey's wife. Giles was just mentioning his wife had been reading some strange books. The judges of the Supreme Court were intrigued and took interest to this. They took this as in Witchery or evil. These people are crazy mind you, the book could’ve been about anything but they were so wrapped up in this evil w
itch nonsense. They assumed and Giles got his wife hung from a simple statement he made in the film.
The written play had done a better job in not describing everything but had got its point across better. In the play things were left out as to the story it was more detailed. The story talks about Indians and in the film there were little to no talk or hear say of Indians. In the written play (act two) it talks about how Procter gets his rifle to go talk to Abigail Williams for what he has done. In the play it says “
