As differ in cultures and histories, inevitably, China and the United States also made a contrast. Whether the freedom of choice, the privacy of students and the relationship between teachers and students are obviously different. As a matter of fact, result from to the diversity in the educational system, there is an enormous difference between the curriculum of China and the United States, among them, one of the most important is whether students in China and the United States have the freedom to choose courses. In China, most of the teachers are elders, all the teachers have more experience than students, therefore, all the students should respect the teacher, fear the teacher. In view of most of the teachers think that when they are serious they will get more respect, in consequence most of the teachers are very serious, stern. This creates a sense of distance between the teacher and the student. For instance, in China, no one will call the teacher's first name or make joking with the teacher, once we said some joke that the teacher does not like, then we will be considered disrespectful. Comparatively, in the United States, the relationship between the teachers and students are more like friends and partners. Often, they do not keep a serious state to deter the students but communicate with the students in a friendly way. In short, education is a cultural transmission. In “Père du Halde: The Chinese Educational System”, (Document 3), Pere du Halde talks about the Chinese Education system. In the document, he says, “That boys should not learn is an improper thing; for if they do not learn in youth, what will they do when old?” This shows that the educational system in China was very hard and strict and the students learned a lot. Since the boys that were going to school were one day going to be men, those men were going to have to make many decisions for China. In order to make sure China was on the right path to great rulers and government workers, the schooling system was very prestigious and difficult. This is an example that China needed a good educational system so they would have strong, future rulers. In my opinion, the Chinese learning system was hard because everyone wanted to have great leaders and they knew that the students who were going to school were going to be future leaders. Cultural differences are cultures from around the world having diverse aspects of living and practices. Businesses often deal with a numerous amount of cultures on a day to day basis, cultures that are unique and have values that are incomparable to their own culture. My mom would always say, “American born Chinese students have it easy in America.” One key difference between the American education system and Chinese education system is the way they are taught. Being raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I went to school to understand the idea of analyzing and understanding concepts. After reading Only Hope, I realized that their education is based on more memorizations. To Chinese students, understand the concept and apply it is not the most important, you must just memorize it for the exam. Many parents in China would say that going on vacation and relaxing is a waste of time because they need to focus on learning. For them, a generational problem develops over time, and cultural displacement occurs as family lines expand. While this is not the problem in and of itself, indeed, it is natural for current culture to gain foothold over distant culture, it serves as the backdrop for the disorientation that occurs between generations. America, China, and Great Britain all have separate forms of government that they use to rule over the people in their countries. America’s form of government can be summarized as a federal republic. Great Britain’s form of government is a constitutional monarchy. China’s government can be referred to as a communist state, but it is important to state that the government of China contains a single-party system that acts as a republic. America, China, and Great Britain all have different forms of government that determine the structure of the state and the policies that are created within the government for the people.
Cultural differences are apparent from one group of people to another. Culture is based on many things that are passed on from one generation to the next. Most of the time people take for granted their language, beliefs, and values. When it comes the cultural differences of people there is no right or wrong. People should be aware of others culture and respect the differences that are between them. The United States and China are two very large countries that have cultures that are well known through out the world. In reality, we do not make this idea come true with our present situation in Chinese education. Furthermore, with the imperfect education system in China, there are fewer qualified and humanized Chinese kindergartens. It is common that the rich families will send their children to the better and qualified kindergartens, while the normal and poor families will send their children to the normal kindergarten in China. Better kindergartens have more qualified and humanized teachers and teaching methods than the normal schools. Therefore, a majority of children cannot live in the qualified and humanized Chinese
For example Chua said that her father called her “garbage” because she was disrespectful to her mother. Western parents on the other hand would never think about saying that to their children. Education is a huge part of Chinese culture so Chinese parents do not let their children to get below an “A”. If a child gets below an “A” then a chinese mother will find tons of resources to help their child succeed. Chinese parents do not let their children give up, they will make them practice for hours at a time. Chua made her daughter practice over and over on the piano until she got the song right. Chua even threatened her daughter that is she did not get the song by that night then she would never get to celebrate a holiday again and that her toys would be donated to the Salvation Army. After countless practicing her daughter finally got the song correct. Western parents would not push their children like that and let them give up. Chinese parents will tell their children what they are and are not going to do and they will override their child's desires because they know what is best for them. First, many Japanese students are surprised by American schools because American students pay much attention to teachers, and also they interrupt teachers to ask questions or to express their opinions. The style of teaching in the U.S. is completely different from Japan, especially in two points. One difference is that teachers in Japan expect students to be quiet in classes. In general, teachers explain the content of textbooks, hand-outs, and other materials. But in American schools, teachers think class participation is very important, and they require students to give their opinions or ask questions in classes.
The very first important development for a successful country is to have a respectable education system for those who need it from the first day they are born into the world. We have to instill what we want in our people to reflect how we want our to development to appear. In china their school system has more of a strict structure for example, at Harbin Number One High School; students begin school at 7:00 a.m., and remain until 8:20 p.m. The seniors, preparing for their final examinations, stay later, even until 10:00 at night.(Rybak) In a Chinese school the day are much longer than an American school day. This means that Chinese student spend a lot more time in school which bring us to conclusion that Chinese are more advantaged then the American student in long run. This prepares them for college or even the young adult can be bio-lingual. Most American student usually attends school for seven hours each weekday and may forget what they have learned because it in instilled into the young adults’ heads like the Chinese do with their students.

From the beginning of their establishment, the bilateral relations between the United States of America and China have changed throughout the time. The bilateral relations of the two countries emerged from 1970’s with the ‘Ping-Pong’ diplomacy and there have been many pauses in their mutual relations. The US and China enjoyed cooperation in economic and military spheres and the mutual relations grew massively during until the end of 1990’s. The heads of the two states began visiting each other’s countries and the economic ties were tightening year by year. However, the issues of human rights and free speech declined mutual Sino-American relations. The American principle of democracy promotion and human rights protection minimized the Sino- American relations after the Tiananmen Square events in 1989, the US Presidents-George Bush and Bill Clinton- playing a key role in determining the further American foreign policy towards China.
