Social Media and Divided the Society
Because people are less communicating with each other, they try to find a good community that they want or hope on the internet. Today everyone commutates by social media. There are some people who are into social media more than others. This point was being claimed in the article “Students Addicted to Social Media”. Also, there is a divorced society in social media. That divorced was identified by social media users to describe other users on another social media site. That what Danah Boyd discussed in his article “Implications of User Choice: The Cultural Logic of “MySpace or Facebook?”. However, some people are into social media more than others that might be based on their economic and social level and

Danah Boyd mentions in his article there are some people think that most Facebook users are more educated than MySpace. “Craig (17, California): The higher castes of high school moved to Facebook. It was more cultured, and less cheesy. The lower class usually were content to stick to MySpace. Any high school student who has a Facebook will tell you that MySpace users are more likely to be barely educated and obnoxious” (Boyd,413). This shows that there are people identify others based on which social media site they join. The reason that might explain why some people think Facebook users are more educated is because Facebook starts as a social network at Harvard. However, I think today anyone can get access to social media sites. People from different ages, community, socioeconomic situation and education. They might be more gravitated to the most social media site that is popular in their society. For example, in the U.S most people who I met have a Facebook account while in my country there are some people have a Facebook account but the majority of people do not because the most popular social media site is Twitter, so most people have a Twitter account. Also, because Twitter is popular in my country, there are Twitter users from different economic and education levels. For that reason, it is hard to judge people education level in a popular social media
Dependency is usually a barring factor, and when you are dependent on things like social media, you are putting yourself, and your confidence in the hands of other people. Technology, the Social norm, and todays morals, are the problem. We are dependent to social media here in the United States as 60% of our population has a social media account. The Human species is also dependent on social media because 2.95 Billion people use it! People need to cut down on the social media use! People with social media accounts use up to 40 minutes a day on it. The opposing view would say that social media brings people together. And can connect people from long distances, while this is good, people simply are attached
As technology progress, humans evolve to the advanced technology and enhance our lives via technology. We connect to our families, friends and others through social media such as Facebook. Social media takes up a huge part in our lives. Social media infest us with information that are relevant and irrelevant to us. Marry Marrow wrote, “It was Facebook that changed the face of e-communication; in fact, it was the first electronic social media” (para 1). She assumes that Facebook is playing a huge role in electronic communication. In the journalist Maria Konnikova, “How Facebook makes us unhappy?”, Konnikova divulges many aspects of people on social media through researching and experience, and finds how social makes us unhappy. I agree with Konnikova findings after reading her article. In addition, she concludes that if you are engaged, active, and creative you will not sorrowful on Social media, however if you are passively browsing and defuse to engage, you
An individual gets an advantage of social media to help them stay in touch with their friends and family. In the article “Pop Culture: We Are What We Consume” by Jim Taylor, Taylor mentions, “Social networking sites allow people to communicate and remain in contact with friends as well as meet new people.” (Taylor, 1). Pop culture gives the person’s ability to take advantage of using social networking sites to interact with their friends and family. Social media allows people to remain in contact with friends and family and allows them to communicate easily. People get to use social media as a tool to help them share their ideas and thoughts with others easily. A person will have an ability to meet new people who share same interests as them. In the article “The Effects of Popular Culture on American Society” by Kailey Murphy, Murphy mentions, “Social networking sites allow people to find others with similar interests that they can create a relationship with and get to know one another. Groups can be joined or formed to meet people with similar interests, and views.” (Murphy 2). Social media being a part of pop culture makes people to connect with new people that share similar ideas. People get to share their ideas and thoughts with
So I ask, what is social media? Social Media is websites and applications that allow users to create and share contents or surf social networking. Social Media has its pros and cons. Some social media accounts ask a lot of questions and clarifications about your background, such as your number, email, birthday, and so on to confirm the account you want to make. Other social media don’t ask for much information, maybe just an email and number. Most social media sites say that you have to be at least 13 to make an account. It can be very addicting to people. Without social media, many of us would be bored because we don’t have that variety of didn’t entertaining or interesting things. You can post pictures on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and so on and get a lot of likes and comments. Or if you post on snapchat, you’ll get a lot of views. Social Media gives you the control to post, like, comment, and share. It’s like having your own imaginary world that you have power over. As I said before, social media comes in all kinds of ways and everyone is dean to find something they like about it.
Technology was created to provide simpler methods for us to accomplish our task. With the help of technology we are able to provide faster and efficient services. With affect of faster connection, it can be said that communicating with others has become more efficient and simple. Thus we begin to question ourselves, it the simpler method really the best methods. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, are some of the major social networking system that most people in the world know of. These networks are said to promote to help faster connection between people, but in some cases the faster connection is what keeps two people away from each other.
If the known fact of human relationships we join the maturity of the technology and new user interfaces, which allow anyone to join and participate in any of these networks with minimal knowledge of Internet use, we can now understand why its boom. The benefits individually they perceive those who participate in social networks are many. Among them are the joining of a community with which they identify and with whom they have common interests, share life experiences, communicate and make or renew friendships, collaborate and share knowledge, for a job, etc. But the use and enjoyment of social networks need not be only for individuals, also can and must reach our
Social media is so popular that according to a recent article published by forbes.com, “72% of American adults are currently using social media sites; that figure has gone up 800% in just 8 years”(Olenski). Social networking was originally created to simply reconnect people with old high school pals, but in recent years it has evolved into a completely different operation. When social media first originated it was also intended for adult usage, which has in recent years expanded into the usage of all ages. Social media can create a negative affect on lives because it has been proven to be a dangerous addiction, for it takes away interpersonal relationships that are essential in life, and it has been proven to prevent people from being productive in life.
Title: Compare and contrast the presentation of visual information in two different types of media today, focusing on how effectively the information is communicated.
Today social media has become a big influence on society. There are many different social media sites that allow people to interact with others. Such social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There are many more different sites, but these are the popular networks that are being used today. These sites allow you to connect with anybody you want to. Social media sites can make you feel connected with others and seem like the best thing, but at the same time it can be a weakness that many of us have.
The development of technology has led up to different ways of social interaction with one another. The launch of the computer was a huge impact in American history. It wasn’t only the computer that launched but also the Internet. Which brought different ways that people could interact with one another though Email and social networks (Lutfala). Some of the more popular social networks used are twitter and Facebook. People may become addicted to tweeting and posting up a tweet or status, this may become a priority to some people. These network accounts allow people to interact with friends and family from all over the world whenever they want with no cost, however people are so addicted to these social network they forget the way people are supposed to interact and that’s by talking in person. Online, children and teenagers can have hundreds of “friends” without having to leave their home or open their mouths. Although is may seem easier for people to send a quick text, email or instant message it destroys the meaning of being able to interact with our friends and family and actually get to see each other face to face.
Since Facebook has a broad audience range, many age groups use facebook daily. These interactions can create connections between relatives and friends that live far away to come together and become up to date on the user’s life. Restating the statement earlier about twitter being geared towards a younger audience, most older generations don’t have a Twitter account so these users don’t have the same opportunity as the Facebook users. Meeting new friends is also a strong possibility through both of these sites. Both Facebook and Twitter gives an unlimited boundary between meeting new people. Social media was created because of these users wanting to create better connections with the people behind the screen. It offers a better understanding between users and shows others how their days and lives
Social media has increased at a rapid pace the past ten years due to its easy use and how cheap it is. With social media you can contact your friends or family that may have moved away, see what your friends and family are doing, or in other cases some people use social media to cyberbully people causing them to have harmful thoughts, sleep deprivation, anxiety and depression, do drugs or commit suicide. What is anxiety? Anxiety is where you worry or feel uneasy about everything. What is depression? When somebody has depression they feel down like they don’t want to do anything, a standstill in life. People are addicted to social media like you would be addicted to a drug. They don’t have assurance
Social media has nothing but negative effects on people’s minds. Social networking can become very addicting and people can get wrapped up in the drama and excitement of the cyber world. It would only improve our society today if social media never existed to our knowledge. Our society today feels so connected with social media that it interferes with our lives making every task even harder with the temptations.
The impact of Social Media on Society Technology has come a long way from its existence till today. In today’s modern world, people are surrounded by technology everywhere. In the present, people are surrounded by disrupting technologies every day. Today, innovators are always creating new technologies that will make an impact on the daily lives of millions. Technology has made the lives of many people easier.
There are some downsides to being constantly connected to everybody through social media. The biggest down side is not communicating to loved ones and family through real life interaction, but instead through social media. That is a serious problem to some people, especially those who use technology and are familiar to technology. Because they might not feel the urge to make human interaction, they are just attracted more to technology.
