Has a substitute teacher ever remembered your name after a class? If so, it is very likely you may be classified as a talkative person. The talkative types are very optimistic about life, they have a very intriguing social life, and they are able to talk their way out of any situation. Now on the other hand; there are those that exist that get yelled at five times during a presentation to speak up. These are known as the quiet people. There are no distinct physical features that separate the talkative from the quiet ones, however, their lifestyles are very drastic. The typical daily routine for a talkative person includes being yelled at five times a day by at least three different people, talking while they are chewing on food, and last but …show more content…
The differences between talkative and quiet people could fill fifty books, and one easy one comes with the selfishness that quiet people drag along with themselves every day. I’d like to think of talkative people as charity, for they take useful information that they’ve heard throughout the day and they spread it along with no second thought. It’s wonderful. Most of this is because talkative people simply cannot keep their mouths shut, but as a fellow optimist, I’d like to think they are providing for the greater good. Quiet people, however, hoard all of the information they collect throughout the day and refuse to share any of it with their peers. The condescending creeps smirk as they walk past a kid who is unaware of a schedule change and laugh as they watch the student suffer. If it were a talkative person, they would greet the fellow classmate with a smile and possibly a, “How ya doing?” followed by a far too in depth reasoning behind the change in the school schedule. This is just one prime example of how quiet keeps torture the lives of thousands with their silence. Another difference is the fact that teachers like talkative kids more than they like quiet people. This is because the talkative people say the things in class that everyone else is afraid to say; such as the moment every student has experienced when they
Ever since I was in middle school, people always told me that I’m quiet and shy. Having said that, I never felt comfortable communicating with people I didn't know that well. That also includes speaking or presenting in front of a class. According to my family and friends, I’m the complete opposite, because they claim that I’m talkative. Being shy and nervous did affect my schoolwork. I wouldn’t raise my hand in class that often, because I didn’t feel comfortable enough. When I was in 6th grade, my teacher would always call up students to share something they liked about a story they read. When the teacher called out my name, my heart started pounding, my hands were shaking and my mind went completely blank. I was so nervous to the point where I felt like I was going to pass out any moment. That’s when I asked the teacher if I could excuse myself to go to the bathroom. She didn’t mind that request so I tried to calm myself down by washing my face and breathing. After class, my teacher and I discussed my inability to present in front of a class. She was obliging, because she agreed to help me overcome being shy and to help boost my self-confidence. Shyness and nervousness also stopped me from participating in activities and obtaining opportunities. In 10th grade, my Chemistry teacher suggested a film festival, because she was aware that I loved filmmaking. At first, I considered the idea, because I’ve never done anything like it before. Having thought about it, I then realized that I was going to have my movie up on a full screen where
When you’re silent, other people feel uncomfortable. They often try to fill the silence, so they reveal more about themselves and what they like to do. It’s actually a tactic that law enforcement uses to get people to confess. Quiet people listen to all the problems around them and can come up with the best solution to the problems. Problem solvers are very important or else we would just have problem, after problem, and it would never get anything done.
The book Quiet by Susan Cain explains that extroverts are the type of people who are talkative and sociable, therefore, they could easily get others' attention during various conversations with the topics that they are discussing. Introverts, on the other hand, are the more quiet type. The ideas from introverts are usually drowned because they do not talk as much as the extroverts do. Introverts don’t expect themselves to handle leadership positions, but it doesn’t mean they cannot be successful leaders at their jobs. We often assume that talker as smarter than the quiet type and perceive talkers as leaders. However, introverts actually make the best leaders by carefully listen to what their followers have to say; not only because introverts gain knowledge by listening, but also their abilities to demonstrate modesty and they are extremely
1. I consider myself one who leads my example more than vocally; I am more likely to be reserved and quiet than outgoing and loud. Sometimes this is more effective than words, as people can follow an example easier than performing based on oral or written instructions. I do not believe in public reprimand or denunciation, but sometimes—or many times—people need to be told that they are wrong, and this should not be something that is “beaten around the bush.” Instead, they should be told plainly and directly in order to ensure understanding in their error so they can correct it. Sometimes, however, I neglect to seize an opportunity to correct someone because of my tendency to stay introverted, which is wrong.
The very idea of spending time with people outside of school is exhausting and my heart begins to pound as I raise my hand to speak during class. Speaking in public, even if it’s just to answer a question in class, or carrying out tasks like ordering Chinese food can lead to tears or a sudden lack of ability to breathe. If I think I say something in a weird way or join a conversation I feel I should not have joined, I will remember the terror (because it is pure terror) that I felt in that moment basically
Although I am at times shy and not talkative, I am not a complete introvert. One of the questions they asked on the test was that am I outgoing or sociable. I strongly disagree because I work 60 hours a week and I go to campus four times a week. For five days in a week, I work the night shift, 12 hours straight. Therefore, I do not have the time to be outgoing. Once again, it is not because I don’t want to, it’s because I can’t be outgoing, like how I used to. I do enjoy being with people, participating in social gatherings, and I have full of energy. There are a lot of factors when it comes to this
Richmond, V.P. (1984). Implication of Quietness: Some Facts and Speculations. In J.C. McCroskey & J.A. Daly (Eds.). Avoiding communication: shyness, reticence, and communication apprehension. (pp. 145-155). London: Sage Publications Inc.
First, Talker type are a type of extraversion personality. This group of people are sociable, friendly, and have a lot of good relationships in society. They often seek out opportunities to engage with others. Moreover, these people have a positive thinking mindset and always full of energy for their daily activities. They are talkative and prefer talking over listening to other. It is difficult for them to hide their true feelings and always want to make themselves stand out from the crowd. Most of them are excitable and hot-tempered which mean they easy to get angry and not self-possessed in some situations; as a result, people belonging to
Converses with people in a flat, abrupt, monosyllabic manner, and finds nothing wrong with that affect.
I like communicating with other people, and much of my life consists of me with my friends. Communicating with people is a good way to become social and comfortable around people. Public speaking is my least favorite part of communicating but I feel if I go into business, it will be one of the most important things to learn. If I have to give a big speech, it could be the first time several upper management bosses really hear what I have to say, and if I give a poor speech and look frightened, it could make them think I am incompetent and cannot communicate.
There are many school-wide behavior expectations that will included in my future planning to establish a learning environment and decrease disruptions in the classroom. For this reason, I will teach social behavior to students during my lecture and provide opportunities so they can interact among each other. According to Flannery and Fenning (2014), teachers need to recognize and respond to the need to teach appropriate social behavior at the same time they are teaching the specific lesson (Flannery & Fenning, 2014). I chose these expectations mainly because it helps students meet their needs with a positive behavior and provide opportunities for students to develop social skills. Teachers need to provide opportunities for all students to practice and enhance their social skills (Banks & Obiakor, 2015). Another reason why I chose these expectations is because it enhances student’s positive behavior of culturally and linguistically diverse students. For instance, different resources will be assigned to students where they will be able to practice their skills and change their attitude to become better citizens. For this reason, schools must begin focusing on providing students the skills, attitudes, and knowledge they will need to be successful in the pluralistic and interdependent world in which students will live and work as adults (Diaz-Rico, 2014). Providing meaningful
After reading the different studies and research in the chapter I have a much different view than before. I reflected on my whole life and noticed that when I am in a more private and relaxed setting my wife usually does a lot of the talking. But in more formal settings like when we attend seminars together or when we took a college class together, I am doing more of the talking. This is just one example of how this study actually reflects my everyday life. Another example of how this chapter changed my view is the way male and female speech occurs in my class. I was really taken back from my teaching and I noticed that this is true of my classroom and I didn 't even know this! Many times when a girl answers a question or tries to provide her different insight of the question provided I sense that many feel she is trying to show off. This chapter honestly will helped me get rid of many assumptions I 've always had. I will also try to ensure all my students have the social confidence in my classroom and try to help all students contribute to the
I believe that my behavior varies based upon the situation I am placed into. If I am without familiar people in an unfamiliar location or situation where I am forced to speak to others, I will become increasingly nervous or anxious. Therefore, before properly becoming friends with me others may view me as simply quiet or rude because of my lack of words in certain situations. However, when people are genuinely kind and make me feel comfortable around them I tend to somewhat open up. Excluding my introversion in instances where I do not know anyone, I can surprisingly be relaxed and outgoing. When I’m participating in group activates with my friends we all instantly forget I’m even referred to as “the shy one” of the
People that really know me would say that I’m not a quiet person. Even a professor would think that I’m quiet because I did not interact much in the class especially in a discussion class which is because of my culture. In my culture, we would have a lecture class rather than a discussion, so I used to that way of teaching and I would be quiet in the class and it would seem like I did not participate in the discussion when actually I agree and listen to what other people say. From other people 's view, they might think I’m not friendly because I do not interact with them but in the reality is that I don 't what to say or I don’t have anything to say. But for the people who I 'm interested in making friends, I will be the one who starts the conversion and shows interested to
I like talking to people that make me learn new things, things I never knew before. I'm like a little sponge I absorb everything. Accordingly, to other people, my vocabulary is different among on other people. The words in my vocabulary are not common, and I use words no one else does. People now tend to develop an effortless way to talk; they don't care about expanding their knowledge. However, I get markedly that they like the way I express myself, and that is unique. I try my best not always to use the same words and change it up around. One of the things that made me like this class is how Mrs. Richter always brings in new words along. I hope the next English class I have is just as good as this semester because I still like to increase my
