WHEN IS ENOUGH DETAILS? The authors Edgar Allan Poe and Guy De Maupassant where some of the old writers in literature with particular way of telling their stories, these are two short stories out of many that shows the way these two writers communicated with us the readers “The Cask Of Amontillado” of Poe and “The Jewelry” of Maupassant, these two texts leave a small gap in the stories, the true of what really happen or how things really started in the stories which leave the reader wondering and trying to figure it out on their own. So why as an author would you do this to you audience, leaving out such as important details that could conclude the end or change the theme? In pace requiescat”, (pg.184) and also because this story is in first person, the narrator is the first characters and we can only see the point of view of this Montresor and leaving out some things like this person is hiding something it gives to the story a touch of reality, we can also see this in Guy De Maupassant’s short story where the story is been told by a third person so the information in the story is limited to one character which didn’t knew from where M. Lantin’s wife got the jewelry, this makes the story more real like if you actually getting the story from someone that was there and doesn’t goes in to much details because he or she doesn’t want to
