Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics share both similarities and differences when it comes to their duties and responsibilities. The similarities can include the responsibility of staying up to date on the latest technology used in both diesel and regular gas powered vehicles. Plus fixing, repairing, and inspecting either type of engine by making sure the vehicles engine is working properly. The differences can include the duties of fixing only diesel powered engines to fixing things that do not have diesel powered engines. Also one works on small cars and trucks, while one works on big trucks, boats, buses, and construction equipment, such as bulldozers, and excavators. The career paths of Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics also have both similarities and differences in terms of the duties involved, the rewards, and challenges. It is also important to notice the similarities and differences in terms of the positive benefits that each job provides. Some of the shared benefits are, they pay starting out at about 15 to 20 dollars an hour, and another thing is that both careers help you to be able to fix your own vehicle if it breaks down. But, there are some unshared benefits that include getting paid top dollar at 33 dollars an hour to getting paid 45 dollars an …show more content…
hour. That’s a difference isn’t it? Finally, one can compare and contrast the challenges/ difficulties of Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics.
These two jobs share some key challenges such as diagnosing and solving problems, and having to deal with impatient and rude customers. Yet, aside from the challenges they share, each job path has its own separate difficulties as well. For example, a diesel mechanic sometimes has to work on huge machines like excavators which have places that are dangerous and hard to get to, while an auto mechanic works on small cars and trucks that can have many things that can go wrong between the battery and gas that make them difficult to figure out the problem making it take longer to figure
out. Comparing and contrasting the duties, benefits, and challenges of Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics that reveals these two jobs are more similar than they are different. And by looking at the shared duties and responsibilities of the two, and the unshared duties and responsibilities of the two closely, these two job paths reveal the differences in the types of engine to the similarities of how much technology is used in both jobs also. Plus, each job shares a similar starting salary, in terms of a benefit of the job, but the real difference is that 33 dollars an hour is different than 45 dollars an hour in regard to the benefits of this particular job path of being one of the best mechanics for either one of the jobs. But, both of these jobs have their own sets of challenges, and some that are quite similar too. Yet, the two jobs have their similarities and differences; I think that the one that best suits me would most likely be Diesel Mechanics.

NATEF is run by a 14-member trustee board that is selected by the ASE Board.
Diesel mechanics fix and maintain every part associated with the diesel engine. There are many different branches of diesel technology which can include construction and farm equipment, over the road trucks, light duty pickups and stationary engines to name a few. A mechanic must be familiar with major brands of engines like Cummins and Cat. They can perform simple tasks of swapping out a bad component to completely overhauling an engine. The median pay for mechanics is “$42,320 per year or $20.35 per hour (United States).” When overtime hours are reached mechanics receive one and a half times pay for work performed. Negative parts of the job are the amount of overtime hours, the dirtiness of the work, and the cost of tools. Positive parts of the job are overtime pay, hands on, and traveling for work. The job outlook for growth in the diesel field “is projected to grow 9 percent from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations (United States).” The field of diesel mechanics is still growing today and will continue for a...

An auto body technician is a trained person who can perform so many duties related to a car including a mechanics role to repair, maintain and refinish vehicles. These technicians are highly based in automotive industries.
Its unusal cause you can get called in unannounced and have 2 vehicles one day and 6 the next and you work until the jobs done so hours change as well. There are normally no seasonal fluctuations for diesel mechanics and you work summer fall winter and spring. Because of that and the fact that hours vary you can sometimes wind up working on days you don’t want to work or get called in unexpectedly. The job of diesel mechanics also takes a lot of other skills like multi-tasking an example would be you would have to check gauges while repairing something on the motor or radiator you also need improvisation skills and an example of that would be when you’re on the job site and you don’t have all the parts or probably mainly tools you would have to improvise something to make it work so you can get the

Have you ever wondered how Detroit Diesel has become what it is today. Detroit Diesel Corporation manufactures diesel and alternative fuel engines for use in trucks, buses, commercial and pleasure marine craft, military and so on. This is how Detroit Diesel has progressed over the years with engines and help of other distributors and dealers.
The diesel engines combustion process is a little different than the typical gasoline engine. A couple main things that diesel engines have that gasoline engines do not are, carburetors and spark plugs. Unlike a gasoline engine, air is first allowed into the cylinder rather than a fuel and air mixture. Once the air is compressed it creates a source of heat, then a mist of fuel is injected to start the combustion process which then creates the energy. Since diesel engines do not have spark plugs they are able to take in larger amount of fuel, this obviously means there will be more power and will guarantee better efficiency. Another thing that is very important is that diesel tends to be a better lubricant than gasoline, being that it is a better lubricant there will be less friction which will generally increase the life of the engine (Woodford). Diesel engines operate at slower speeds than gasoline engines, therefore diesel engines tend to have longer lifespans than gasoline
Diesel Mechanics is a good field to to study and go into. The reason being is because everything you do or everything you buy or even get delivered to your house has something to do with diesel. Diesel trucks like tractor trailers are one of the main delivery systems in the world so someone has to know how to work on that if one of those trucks breaks down. Even though diesel motors are not as popular right now they are coming up fast and more and more people are wanting these kinds of trucks. Which means that diesel mechanics has a bright future in making more money and becoming more popular. By the year 2020 most cars in America and the world will be diesel which means more job opportunity and more money.
In the future the automotive industries will need alternative fuel sources, in turn that means they will need alternative engines in their automobiles. The engines found in their cars will have to be changed to fit the new fuels being made. They have many directions in which they can go concerning engine types and fuel types.

It is very important that as an industrial machinery mechanic keeps records of what they repaired, how long it took to repair the machinery, and how much the repair cost. They know how to carry on a conversation about business and talk with others to ask for help when they need it. An industrial machinery mechanic needs to know how to communicate; this is a major part of this particular job.

(2) The Diesel engine; the basic design or construction of a Diesel Engine is same as that of S I Engine apart from a spark plug, a fuel injector is placed. This engine is widely used in large vehicles and industrial systems where the yield in cycle efficiency produce it more advantageous over the major compact and lighter-weightiness than spark ignition engine;
