Its unusal cause you can get called in unannounced and have 2 vehicles one day and 6 the next and you work until the jobs done so hours change as well. There are normally no seasonal fluctuations for diesel mechanics and you work summer fall winter and spring. Because of that and the fact that hours vary you can sometimes wind up working on days you don’t want to work or get called in unexpectedly. These mechanics must be prepared to work on a wide range of vehicles and then must be familiar with most models of domestic and foreign diesel engines. they must also be capable of effectively informing their customers about any required repair or maintenance and providing an accurate estimate of the cost of the job.
