Did Holmes Make The Right Decisions

Have you ever gone somewhere like an ice cream shop and not known what you wanted? Decisions are hard to make. Sometimes people get set as a scapegoat and the culprit gets away. Just like in this case the Countess loses her jewel and finds it inside of her black striped goose and doesn’t know who did it. After they find the felon, Mr. Holmes rules to let them go and bid them not to do it again. In my opinion, I think Sherlock Holmes positively made the right decision.

In this case, if Mr. Holmes would have decided to arrest and lock them up, they would have been classified as criminals for their whole lives. They’d be called in several times for crimes they didn’t commit. Over and over, that would get pretty annoying. Getting arrested would

stand on their personal record. It would be even harder to get and maintain a job. That would affect their ability to work in certain fields, and voting. It also affects their qualification to rent properly.
Whenever someone gets arrested, that is known about them for their whole lives. That person will get called in as a suspect of crimes, which leads to getting arrested again. No matter if they did the crime or not, they would still pay for crimes. It wouldn’t be fair to be locked up for no reason. Jails back then were disgusting and were meant to make criminals not want to commit crimes with the thought of going back to those awful jails. Do you think it’s fair to go to jail for no reason?
In the end, after Ryder had tried to steal the jewel, he hadn’t gotten it after all. Meanwhile the countess discovered her jewel in a goose. I don’t think it would be fair for Ryder to go to jail. I feel this way because nothing was actually misplaced or wrong. The Countess had her jewel, Ryder didn’t really steal anything, and everything fine.
After all, I think he made a pretty good decision. Let’s remember, they would’ve been know as criminals forever, possibly be jailbirds, if he would’ve arrested them, even though nothing was lost. In conclusion, I believe Mr. Holmes certainly made the right choice.
