Diary of Witch From William Shakespeare's Macbeth
Dear Diary,
I met with my fellow witches during ferocious thunder and lightning,
to plot when we are going to meet Macbeth. We decided to meet him with
Banquo after all the commotion from the battle between the Scottish
King and his army against a rebel army supported by the Norwegians.
The Scots shall win, crushing the rebels and making Macbeth and Banquo
classed as hero’s. We shall be the fog and mist while the battle
proceeds. Macbeth has been chosen for a spell to make him king and
course chaos to the hierarchy, because he is weak minded and will let
his better judgement be swayed. We know that once he hears what we
have to say, he will be seduced by the power. Once that has happened
we can make him do anything we like. We have also been discussing
turning into toads, cats or a rats. I chanted ‘I come Graymalkin!’ my
sisters called out ‘Paddock calls’ and ‘anon!’ then together we sang
‘Fair is foul, and foul is fair, Hover through the fog and filthy
air.’
Act 1 Scene 2 - Witch
Dear Diary,
Now that Macbeth has been victorious we shall make our move, as we
know Macbeth will now be eager for more success and glory. I can’t
wait to cause mayhem using Macbeth, so that we will never be
suspected. Macbeth shall lose his good name, once we have finished
with him. We watched the battle as a ‘shipwrecking storm’ while
Macbeth cut through the rebel army until he got to the Thane of
Cawdor, Macdonald where they fought unscrupulously until Macbeth
sliced him from his belly to his jaw with his brandished steel. The
rebels were scared by Macbeth’s bravery, but the Norwegians came on
one last desperate attack. But Macbeth and Banquo were about as scared
as lions are of hares, they just destroyed the last of the Norwegians.
Now we shall meet Macbeth as he is hungry for more success, and eager
There are many different characters in MacBeth trying to accomplish different things for themselves. However, in my opinion, the only characters who really profited from and got what they wanted out of the whole situation were the witches. They are the ones who basically caused the majority of the problems in MacBeth and I think that they knew what was going to happen the entire time. Even though it may look as though they gained nothing from everyone else's misfortune they actually succeeded in making MacBeth do evil deeds and winning him over to their side.
Then when we returned, the king was very pleased to see both of us for
Powerful in nature and curious to the eye, the witches in Macbeth were hooks of fascination. One never knew what would come next when it came to the witches. They possessed a dark authority and supremacy unlike any other and the temptation to ignore them was unfeasible. They brought with them gloomy days and evil thoughts. The witches could draw you in and begin to almost play with your mind if you let them. This is what ultimately led to the down fall of Macbeth. Collectively, the witches in Macbeth acted as a catalyst for all of Macbeth’s actions.
to such a fate. I tell no one of this dream but I conclude that it is
First came the pride, an overwhelming sense of achievement, an accomplishment due to great ambition, but slowly and enduringly surged a world of guilt and confusion, the conscience which I once thought diminished, began to grow, soon defeating the title and its rewards. Slowly the unforgotten memories from that merciless night overcame me and I succumbed to the incessant and horrific images, the bloody dagger, a lifeless corpse. I wash, I scrub, I tear at the flesh on my hands, trying desperately to cleanse myself of the blood. But the filthy witness remains, stained, never to be removed.
The character of Lady Macbeth is a complex one, there is much that can be said regarding the juxtaposition of ideas concerning her behavior. Within this essay I shall attempt to elaborate on her forceful, selfish and contradictory character.
Macbeth’s heroic deeds at the beginning of the play soon seem insignificant next to the primary event in the Act: the revelation of the witches’ prophecy. Their insightful proclamation that he will be king someday is both shocking and pleasing to Macbeth. Without this occurrence, this play might not have traveled a road of ambition and death, but instead one of calm acceptance and enjoyment of an already-elegant lifestyle. The seeds of desire were here planted, however, eliciting what became a bloody ordeal. The spark ignited, and a plan began to take shape.
Macbeth's relationship with his wife was not always great. This is shown in one of there conversations;
Macbeth took on the quest of murdering the king and his good friend, Banquo. In the beginning
Macbeth’s ambition to obtain power convinces him that it is his destiny to become King of Scotland, and that he should do anything to fulfill that destiny, even if it involves him committing tremendously immoral acts such as murder. After Macbeth realizes that the witches may actually speak the truth due to the second prophecy (Thane of Cawdor) becoming true, he begins to have an eerie and frightening thought of him killing his king and friend, Duncan, in order to ac...
prospect of you being king was so great that I lost touch with reason. When the
Lady Macbeth, one of the main characters in the play Macbeth, is an example of a character that throughout the course of the play has had a change of heart of some sorts. Lady Macbeth's conscience, which seems to have never appeared or mattered to her before, suddenly becomes an uncontrollable part of her psychological state of being.
Shakespeare manipulates the audience’s opinions on whom was most responsible for the death of Duncan in many ways, I feel he does this to create question and surprise to the play. Shakespeare leads you along one path of thought, to then divert your thoughts onto another. Many people have different opinions and interpretations to this play; A.C Bradley once wrote “Lady Macbeth is the most commanding and perhaps the most awe-inspiring figure that Shakespeare drew. Sharing, as we have seen, certain traits with her husband she is at once clearly distinguished from him by an inflexibility of will, which appears to hold imagination, feeling, and conscience completely in check. To her the prophecy of things that will be becomes instantaneously the determination that they shall be:
They challenge Macbeth’s character over the course of the play by giving him three simple prophecies about his life. The witches cause the play’s theme to start as very dark and gloomy because of their prophecies to Macbeth. If
The Evil Lady Macbeth In Shakespeare's play, "Macbeth", there is a definite difference between male and female roles. Women were not to hear violent information, nor speak their minds. Although Macbeth committed the murders himself, Lady Macbeth was the driving force and evil behind him, making her more responsible. She drives her husband to perform the murder and therefore is more to blame than Macbeth. Lady Macbeth possesses more dominant characteristics in the relationship and uses them against Macbeth, pressuring him into murdering King Duncan.
