Some People might think that the book doesn’t have enough words on each page and that there are too many pictures.
The book Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul is a really good book because there are many times in the book when there is something funny going on. The School Library Journal says that the book is “a big hit with reluctant readers and anyone looking for a funny book” On page 33, Greg and his family are playing a game called Alphabet Groceries and Manny, Greg’s little brother, makes up lots of funny words. On page 131, Greg talks about how he ran around naked at a swimming pool. The Long Haul is a happy and silly boob for readers.

For example on page 65, Greg’s older brother Rodrick mistakes a safe as a microwave and tries to microwave a frozen pizza, which ends up getting stuck in the safe. Then on page 85, Greg and some other kids are making faces at each other from different cars and one of the other kids face plants into the back window because his car accelerates. On page 195, Rodrick thinks that his brain exploded because he had cinnamon roll dough all over his head but he didn’t know it was dough. Then Rodrick gets more upset because Manny starts licking the dough off of his hands. The book would be a great book for someone who likes exciting
books. The Long Haul is just a real exciting book and gets readers wanting to read on. The book starts off with Greg’s mom saying that their family was going on a road trip, which wasn’t Greg’s idea of starting off the summer. This sets the theme for the book and gets the reader ready for what they are about to read. Personal Response: I really enjoyed the book Old Yeller. I really understood the book and could relate to a boy and his dog. The book kept me reading until it was over.

Fans of the novel like the way you get to see inside Grace and Marty 's personalities, and the way that these two kids are just like any other, if not a little more unusual. You will find yourself glued to the pages until you have finished reading the novel. The adventures will make it so that you only breath about every once in a while and you will like the characters you are reading about, even if you are an adult. Two of the most engaging, thrilling and Insidious novels of all time. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a powerful story about a group of young boys whom are hoisted in a situation of harsh survival with no adult assistance after their plane crashes in the middle of an ocean. The group of boys vacillating from around ages 6-12 although the exact years are not confirmed. The boys begin to reconstruct a society, a leader is quickly named, Ralph, he is a good leader and is one of the older boys in the group. They set up a system in which only the person with the conch shell may speak. That rule was quickly demolished when the rebel of the group, Jack, breaks off from the group with a large amount following. The boys quickly turn on each other and what started as a successful society turned into a corrupt, and destructive society. Jack’s group is called the hunter, they pick off the other boys one by one. First Simon, an innocent young boy, then a cruel death to a boy named Piggy. Piggy was one of the few boys that had morals. Then as Jack’s hunting assembly were in pursuit for the final man of the more ethical group, Ralph, help comes, just in time to save Ralphs life. Now Life of Pi by Yann Martel, is also an extremely powerful novel that is creatively wrote. It is a story told in first person by a man named Pi Patel. The story is about a horrific situation that occurs on the Pacific Ocean. As Pi and his family were on a large ship they carried many animals from their zoo. The voyage turn wrong quickly. The ship sank and Pi’s family died in the wreck, but Pi, Richard Parker and a few animals managed to make it to the lifeboat. The journey began for Pi. He must overcome many obstacles, taming a tiger, fighting off mental beasts...

Little Red Riding Hood, by Paul Galdone, is a children’s book that inspires and is meant to remind the audience to follow directions. It inspires the audience by combining fable characters to real world experiences such as children talking to strangers and listening to your parents and being more careful when going places you are not as familiar with. While some of the dialogue of Little Red Riding Hood, by Paul Galdone could be more in the intended audiences reading level, it's interesting storyline, visual elements, and focus on the value of following directions make this book more than worthy of inclusion on list of the “Top 100 Children’s Books”.
My recommendation for this book would be that this book is just a fun read, nothing to serious. But yet it's a book were its easy to relate to were a lot of the situations that happen in the book happen in young teenage life as well. Like for example the desperation to fit in. kids will do most likely anything to be part of "the cool group" hopefully not take some sort of pill that will talk to you in your head. But other things like being pressured into talking drugs. Sneaking out of the house to go to some party and not coming back until the next day at dawn without getting caught. These days we do so much and our parents know so little.
High school students in many American schools first read this book in an English class, which has been a staple for many schools. A required reading assignment exposes many more people to the book. Even though the book is considered to be a children’s book by many, it is still enjoyed by people of all ages.

The action of the story can make the reader get bored of it quickly or it can continue to keep the reader interested. Some of the action was forced to keep the book going but overall it was not bad. Many young readers like reading a book with lots of action so this is why the book is such a big hit.

It is a novel about the friendship between a young boy, named Huck and a black slave, named Jim. Throughout the plot Huck and Jim form a bond which proves that color should not stand as a barrier between the friendship of two people by completing endless adventures and always sticking together. The author, Mark Twain, grew up in one of the fifteen slave states and this clearly influenced his writing in the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Growing up of the banks of the Mississippi River he experienced much racism and witnessed how cruel society could truly be (Merriman) and this affected him deeply. The novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, supports the theme that friendship in found in unexpected places.
Vacations Can be hard to plan, especially during the holidays. Greg’s family plans a family vacation in a place where Greg’s parents had their honeymoon, that place is called, Isla de Corales. As usual with the Heffley’s, the trip goes horrible. The title of this book is, Diary of a wimpy kid: The Getaway. The author of the book is, Jeff Kinney. A brief summary is how Greg’s family plans a family vacation that doesn't turn out as well as they expected. First, Greg starts off by explaining how this trip came to mind. In the book, Greg says, “The commercial was for this place called, Isla de Corales, which is where mom and dad went for their honeymoon…” (Kinney 3). It has always been amazing to realize how well the literature I read as a child has stayed with me through the years. It takes an exceptional writer to compose a narrative that maintains a storyline on the same level of a child's understanding; it takes everything short of a miracle to keep a child's interest. However, that undertaking has been accomplished by many skilled authors, and continues to be an area of growth in the literary world. Only this year the New York Times has given the genre of children's literature the credit it deserves by creating a separate best-sellers list just for outstanding children's books. Yet, on another level, children's literature is not only for the young. I believe that the mark of a brilliant children's author is the age range of those who get pleasure from the stories; the wider the range, the better.
What kid hasn’t heard of Dr. Seuss? From “One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish” to “A person’s a person, no matter how small” to “From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere”, Dr. Seuss has filled the lives of children with whimsical stories and ideas. (8) Using casual dialect and everyday objects, he was able to spark the imagination of others. All the while, he instilled lessons into his writings. It is not a surprise that Dr. Seuss received an award for a “Lifetime of Contribution to Children’s Literature”. His work will be read and enjoyed for decades to come. All in all, no matter which Dr. Seuss story that the reader might select, his or her imagination will be sparked, and the reader will surely be entertained.

Both books are good for parents and children to share a new adventure in life changing experiences, whether the baby is not the baby anymore, but a big brother or sister or if the young child is not happy about who they are until they see that who they want to be is not what they expect. Literature can provide young children adventures they may never experience in their life time. For those young children, who do experience adventures in their life, they need good age appropriate literature in their lives to show them different ways on how to deal, cope, or function in their life. A child’s personality can be supported and nurtured if they are given opportunities to explore and learn from their environment, whether the learning is exploring or reading a good book.
