Dialogue - Losing Humanity
"We've lost, haven't we?" her dark eyes turned to him, not pleading, not appealing, but merely stating the undeniable truth.
David's heart wrenched at the loss of innocence, and ultimately, the loss of hope, he saw in that gaze. Sera had been his source of inspiration so many times in the past that David was half-afraid that he'd used up so much of her spark himself that he'd left none for her. To see her so bitter, so hopeless like this, cut him deep.
"Humanity, I mean. Mankind, people - whatever. We've failed. We're not going to make it," her eyes drifted meaningfully down to the crowd of racist protesters on the street below them.
Their cries had reached a crescendo now and they were battering human

"The part of us that does these things is the same part that makes us human, the part that got us down from the trees in the first place."
Sera snorted bitterly. "There's irony for you," her gaze drifted once more - but to the sky this time rather than the protesters "We're no better, y' know. We've been looking down on these people the same way that they've been looking down on us. We don't burn dummies in the streets, but it's still the same." Her dark eyes shifted once again, this time searching for something in David's gaze. Understanding perhaps. "'Them and us', David. That's what this is all about. It should be just 'us', but it's not. That's where humanity falls down."
Her eyes drifted back to the horizon and David reached out and gently took her small hand in his big one. He cleared his throat awkwardly, capturing her gaze, and though his words were casually said, his eyes were intense. "Darlin', I know I'm not exactly educated, but I've been around awhile. And if there's one thing I've learnt it's that as long as there is one person left in the fight, there's a chance the fight can be won," he said, his gaze flicking to the particular section of the horizon she'd been looking at a little while before - the part where the sea met the sky. "I know what it's like, kid. When one person gets the courage to stand against the flow, it makes it just that much easier for someone else to do the
First, David’s mother gave him enough courage to keep hope his father would be all right after the Nazis arrested him. Because their own house was no longer safe from Nazi invasion, David’s family was staying with friends. However, Nazis burst into the house they were staying in on...
David was known to dangerous jobs because of his strength. On one particular occasion he was fixing a barn, and he happened to fall from a great height and at first was proclaimed unhurt.3 For several days, he had a headache which progressively got worse and those several days turned into weeks. Soon he was diagnosed with a fever by a doctor and the only way to cure him was if blood was drawn. This affected Clara greatly because from a young age she had formed a very strong and unbreakable bond with her brother.3 This bond enabled her to remain by her brothers side day and night, and she “learned to take all directions for his medicines from his physician (who had eminent counsel) and to administer them like a genuine nurse.”3 She took care of him for two years until he was sent to a doctor for treatment. During this particular incident, was when she willingly let go of her own needs to meet her brothers needs.3 Caring for her brother gave Clara a purpose and after he was healed “instead of feeling that my freedom gave me time for recreation or play, it seemed to me like time wasted, and I looked anxiously about for some useful occupation”3 this what helped her come to the conclusion that helping others helped her get rid of the shy and timid nature that had held her back for so long. Her shy and timid nature was caused by a speech impediment she had known as a lisp. Her lisp caused her to feel self-conscious and insecure disabling her from talking to people but with the help of her family Clara was able to overcome it. In an attempt to help Clara overcome her fear, her parents sent her to a boarding school, believing that Clara would lose her timid characteristic if thrown amidst strangers.3 After Clara was sent home for not eating was when she realized the importance of overcoming her timid nature as

His grip flexed and twisted on the handle of his sword as he reminded himself that he at the very least needed to the Princess alive until he had turned her in. She went on as he expected her to. Lines that he'd imagined a thousand times over the last few years, listening to them in his mind again and again, and taking a measure of joy in just how he pictured it would all go. And of course after having served under her for so long his prediction was rather accurate. She began with begging and pleading veiled as pleasantries and kindness, with offers to restore everything that she'd stripped from him that day years ago, and ending with such a haughty air as if she thought her offer would assuredly make up for so many years of pain and mockery and loss. She was so desperate to live but that damned false pride of hers would be her undoing.
“Yeah, if it ain't half bad,” the shooter responded after a glance. “Trouble is you end up with those government-overthrow types. I'm at my worst pretending to be Marxist. It doesn't lead anywhere interesting. You’re almost always high and start to get things wrong because you’ve lost the ability to handle a lot of fragmented detail.”
U.S. foreign policy objectives in Somalia are simply to promote political and economic growth and stability, avert the use of Somalia as a refuge for terrorists, as well as ease and reduce the humanitarian crisis caused by years of conflict, drought, flooding, and failed government and leadership officials. The United States is dedicated to assisting Somalia's government, strengthen democratic institutions, improve stability and security, and deliver results to the Somali people. The U.S. has urged the Somali leadership to continue to consolidate gains by helping structures emerge through community dialogue and reconciliation, rapidly providing services, and drafting legislation to facilitate implementation of the provisional constitution. The U.S. also has welcomed the African Union Mission in Somalia's success in driving the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization out of st...
To understand the demise of Somalia in the 1980’s, it is important to conceive that the 1978-1979 war against Ethiopia turned out to be a failure. The Siad Barre regime hadn’t succeeded in its dream to unify all Somali under one flag and as Isabelle Duyvesteyn (2005) writes “large sections of the Somali populations remained armed” (p.40). Consequently, the regime decided to punish as she writes “ all the officials he (Siad Barre) held responsible for the defeat” (p.40), which according to this scholar initiated turmoil.
What to wear? This is the question students ask themselves every morning before going to school. Nationwide educators and parents are debating whether or not their schools will be a part of those public schools who have chosen to have their students to wear school uniforms. The wear of uniforms in public schools may reduce bulling, teasing, possible violence, creates a better learning environment and may even maintain social equality. Since the 1990s, the practice of having public school students wear uniforms--like their private school peers--has been credited with some amazing results. School uniforms, proponents have said, can lead to improved discipline and classroom behavior, increased school attendance, respect for teachers, better school performance, higher student self-esteem and confidence, lower clothing costs, promotion of group spirit, reduction in social stratification, and lower rates of violence and crime. Uniforms, in short, seem like the solution to all of education's problems. (Konheim-Kalkstein, 2006)
“Well, Beth, they are scared that the third of us will start an uprising. And if they are here when we do, they seem to think they will be able to stop it,” I
In the past school uniforms have been a requirement for private schools only, however; the number of public schools requiring uniforms is growing rapidly (Brunsma). Every parent wants their child to feel safe while they are at school. This is just one of the many things that implementing school uniforms into public schools will do for students (Maxwell). School uniforms have also been proven to be a key asset in keeping gang colors and symbols out of schools (Maxwell). The requirement of uniforms has also led to a decrease in violence and theft due to expensive clothing and shoes, helped to instill a sense of discipline in students, a reduction in the number of distractions for students, and helped give the students a sense of community (Maxwell). Uniforms have also helped to blur the lines between rich and poor students, and helped to make it easier for school officials to identify individuals on campus that do not belong (Maxwell). Implementing school uniforms into today’s public schools will help to reduce all of these problematic situations, and help the students to feel safe.
“Yeah, before their arrival to our world. Before their arrival… the world was the world… The most ugly, beautiful thing in all its dysfunctional glory. And after the arrival of the volunteers in 2029 that all changed. The world as mankind had always known it was over. It was replaced with was an environment where nothing was left to chance. Every aspect of man’s new world became planned out for him, every roadblock removed, every unpleasantry eradicated. Now does any of that sound logical to you? A world that was once so heavily flawed turned into an errorless paradise in only a few short months, maybe a few years at best.”

Where did you get that outfit? You look so fine! Why does she always where that outfit? Doesn’t she have anything else? These are the inquires that hops on to the train of thought in students mind when they go to school. The main effort is not laid on education, and if it is somewhat an idea, it’s about getting high grades through extra credit and not so much learning the material. Public school students are rapidly redefining the meaning of education. Education has been drawn into a world of fashion, because students are redirecting their focus on how they dress instead of concentrating on their academics. Due to the lack of attention on education, the use of uniforms ought to be an investment
This is simply a strong physical attraction that David has for Dora, and he “was gone” and “swallowed” up in an instant by her beauty. David idolizes Dora from the beginning with the thought that she is perfect and isn’t capable of any wrongdoing. From the start, Dora’s strength is beauty and youthfulness, but being young and beautiful only goes so far and lasts so long. David’s love affair begins the moment he sees Dora and he quickly develops an obsession for her: “How many cups of tea I drank, because Dora made it, I don’t know” (Dickens 404). David goes on “loving Dora, harder than ever,” and confesses his love for her, and they are soon engaged (Dickens
