A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a type of nurse that uses gel to detect and observe the high-frequency sound waves of the living fetus, heart, abdomen, pelvis, and blood vessels. They prepare the patient for their ultrasound examination by taking in information about the patient’s past about their body and any other operations. They prepare and select the appropriate materials needed for the examination and after everything is assembled, they perform the ultrasound examination on the patient. Diagnostic Medical Sonographers analyze the results and recognize which photos are ordinary and which photos are unusual.

These type of nurses also work with people who want to look into any problems with their heart, abdomen, breasts, and blood vessels. A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer helps the patient by detecting any serious problems within their body; essentially helping them to save their life. They are constantly learning new aspects of their patients, progress, materials, and technology. Also, the education required for this job doesn’t take as long as a doctor.

There isn’t an extremely set or stable schedule for this job, it’s usually on-call and depends on how many people need to have an appointment. This job can either be exhaustingly busy or empty. It can be boring at times because there aren’t any awfully hectic scenarios occurring. Since these nurses are constantly learning something new, there isn’t really any time to rest and absorb the skills and knowledge of the technology. These nurses also have to be very detailed oriented with their records, tracks, and progress and work under immensely strict
