The Wicked Twister A suspicious feeling simmers in my stomach as my family drives on the road to Cedar Point in our black Jeep. The AC is on the highest setting. I stare at the tall coasters as my step dad, mom, and sister excitedly talk about the roller coasters they want to ride on. I quietly sit in the back seat, unable to look away from the towering rides. Finally we park our car in the crowded lot and step out. A wave of heat smacks my face, an indication of the hours of long waiting in the heat I have ahead. My mouth dries up, and I become glad of the millions of water bottles we had decided to bring. My family and I walk up to get our tickets checked, and our day at Cedar Point had officially started. We decide to ride smaller rides …show more content…
My turn to get on the ride is fast approaching. The deafening sound of the roller coaster had become louder and louder until it was just a whir. When you get on, the ride doesn’t slowly start. The ride flings you forward, going from 0 mph to 71 in less than a second. The coaster is one of the tallest and fastest in the world. The workers say, 3.2.1… and then BOOM you’re thrown, no chance to react. Again, my stomach churns. I try to keep my face placid, and turn away, my back to the ride. I pretend to, you know, nonchalantly check out the scenery behind us. Just a lot of people in line with slack faces. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder. Oh no. “Maiya,” My mom says to me, “It’s our turn next. Are you excited?” I manage to give her a smile and a thumbs up as I watch the current ride slowing down. It’s funny how time seems to speed up in the most unfortunate times, and slows down when you need it to the least. Then the coaster stops, and the passengers step off, most of them in a woozy, surreal state. I follow my mom onto the ride that seats two in a row. I pull the heavy straps down over my chest, and buckle it in. Now my worry has turned into full blown chaos, and my insides are flipping
On this ride riders experience the Sun, Mars, the Asteriod Belt, Sattilites, and the Moon. During this ride the space craft shaped car will speed down a dark purple track. This ride also offers a one of a kind single seat at the sheer point of the space shuttle shaped car giving the rider a once in a lifetime experience. The ride will deliver a very thrilling ride with the ride twisting around itself. This will produce a very intense ride. Apollo 11 being the first space shuttle to accomplish the first moon landing will make this ride have excellent theming and will make you feel like its real. The ride will cause riders to feel all the insane moments these astronauts had when they were the first men on the moon. The ride will put rides through a series 9 elements, including 3 inversions. Rides will spiral up the first hill and it will be the first of its type. Also with the outer seats will provide a similar ride to coasters similar to skyrush nevertheless this roller coaster will be the first roller coaster with winged seats to go upside down. This all causes this coaster one of the ultimately unique roller
“Even though roller coasters propel you through the air, shoot you through tunnels, and zip you down and around many hills and loops, they are quite safe and can prove to be a great way to get scared, feel that sinking feeling in your stomach, and still come out of it wanting to do it all over again (1).” Thanks to the manipulation of gravitational and centripetal forces humans have created one of the most exhilarating attractions. Even though new roller coasters are created continuously in the hope to create breathtaking and terrifying thrills, the fundamental principles of physics remain the same. A roller coaster consists of connected cars that move on tracks due to gravity and momentum. Believe it or not, an engine is not required for most of the ride. The only power source needed is used to get to the top first hill in order to obtain a powerful launch. Physics plays a huge part in the function of roller coasters. Gravity, potential and kinetic energy, centripetal forces, conservation of energy, friction, and acceleration are some of the concepts included.
Roller coasters come in all sizes and configurations. Roller coasters are designed to be intense machines that get the riders’ adrenaline pumping. Ever since my first roller coaster ride, I knew I was hooked. I cannot get enough of the thrilling sensation caused by these works of engineering. When people board these rides, they put their faith in the engineers who designed the rides and the people who maintain and operate the rides. In this paper, I will bring to your attention a specific instance when the operation of one of these coasters came into question and led to a very tragic incident. From this, I will look into the events leading up to the incident and evaluate the decisions made by the people involved.
People can be very wild when it comes to amusement parks and their widespread excitement. Although if you think about it, roller coasters and amusement parks are one of many examples of how physics is used. To make an amazing and exciting amusement park, workers have to use their physical knowledge to bring out the best of their out of each of their rides. After all, the roller coaster excitement about riding a roller coaster is not about their high speed. What makes a roller coaster excited is mostly due to their acceleration and the feeling of weightlessness.
Rollercoasters, the star of an amusement park and an achievement in physics, date back decades. In history there is no doubt that people created countless of amazing coasters. They could be record holders, they could do the impossible or they could inspire the design of many other rollercoasters. Nevertheless they are all made because of our knowledge of the laws of physics. Rollercoasters symbolize how we, throughout the years, can use this knowledge to our advantage. Rollercoasters is a way to express physical science while providing safe (if designed correctly) amusement to all.
The Crazy mad Mouse is a type of roller coaster characterized by mouse-like cars that seat up to six people and ride on top of the track. The cars travel making tight, flat turns (without banking) at modest speeds. The track is characterized by many tight turns and bunny hops, producing abrupt negative vertical G forces. When approaching a turn from a straight section, the intended impression is that one will simply continue moving straight providing a fun and crazy ride! The speed of the roller coaster is 139 mph make sure you are buckled in because you could fall out if you are not buckled in and if the seat belt is tight enough . Also if you eat any food before you go on the ride i would advise you to wait 5-15 minutes before you go
You apprehensively walk up the iron steps and onto the platform. You’re reluctant to go any further, but your friend eggs you on, saying, “It’s not that fast.” You step into the seat and pull the harness down over you. No, this isn’t the latest, greatest technological frontier. It’s a roller coaster. Since 1804 when the first wheeled roller coaster- called “Les Montagnes Russes”- was constructed in Paris, France, roller coasters have been a staple of adventure and fantasy among children and children-at-heart. But there’s no magic involved with these fantastic creations, there’s a plethora of forces and laws governing their every movement. From kinetic energy to inertia, roller coasters are intricate engineering marvels that function through the laws of physics. This is a look into those physics that result in a thrill ride unlike any other.
My ride is named the colossus coaster. It is a high flying roller coaster that has loops and fast turns. Your adrenaline rush will be greater than you have ever had. But, before we get to the ride we will go through the line. When you are on the line you will walk through a virtual reality room. When you are exploring the virtual reality world, it will feel like you are actually on the roller coaster to get the riders excited for the ride. When you finally get to the ride you will find a torpedo car. There are five cars and 16 people can go in each car. Each ride lasts about one miniute. The car has great arrow dynamics to go as fast as possible for the riders. Now you will be informed of the many things that you will feel and what the coaster
Not far from the opening gate, I glanced at the first ride I was going to experience, the Cork Screw. The whole entire family was going to ride on the rollercoaster, even my sister Alissa who is terrified of coasters. As I walked up the narrow path that led to the Cork Screw, I could see that there was a large number of people waiting to get onto the ride. While waiting patiently to board the coaster, I gazed up in awe at the Cork Screw, one of the newer roller coasters, which sparkled high above our heads. Twirling hoops and loops were the main attraction of this roller coaster.
Waiting an eternity to ride, the anxiety builds with each step. As I approach the seat, my palms sweat, as I regret my decision every five minutes. As the rapid coaster rushes above, the cool air splashes me in the face. What a way to start the day at an amusement park! Adrenaline in my veins surging through.

3,2,1 Whosh! whaaaaa! There it is, I see Top Thrill Dragster. We just drove to cedar point, seeing the 420 foot tall Top Thrill Dragster, made me think twice about being here. It was a surprise from my dad going here. After all I was always scared of heights and roller coasters. I wasn’t looking forward to this!
Amusement parks are by far one of the most thrilling places on earth. As you wait in a long line to get in park, you can hear numerous kids, adults, and tourist shouting off the top of their lungs due to a tremendous jaw-dropping drop on their beloved roller coasters.
We all drove up the the park entrance and into the parking lot. After seeing the coasters from the ground, they looked fine but then I realized that they would seem way higher than they were. Then the doubt of going on the roller coasters started rolling in. I always wasn’t able to go on the big rides whenever I came here because I was always scared of them because of the heights.
Never ending queues weaved and meandered through the swarm of people away from the attractions in a random route. People, families, boyfriends and girlfriends stand idle and lethargic, waiting in line patiently for the hurricanes of fear and enjoyment to ride upon them, listening to the squeals of both horror and excitement increasing in volume as the ride turns and twists, goes round the loop-de-loop and curves in every direction.
