Paper One (Descriptive Paper)

● Compose for particular audiences and purposes.

My purpose in writing paper one was to describe an event that had changed my life. I had to compose for Dr Asya and my classmates through a presentation and my paper itself.

● Compose using language and conventions appropriate to genre.

Even though my first paper was about a very personal event I still had to make sure not to use colloquial language such as mom and dad and instead use formal language such as mother and father. Since the genre of my paper was descriptive I had to use many adjectives like horrific, enormous, and compassionate.

● Read, select, and use evidence critically to formulate and support arguments.

For paper one I had to go

As an individual I formulated ideas and wrote my paper to best describe my incident to my audience. Collaboratively, my classmate’s reactions to my presentation helped me to really see if they were interested in what I was talking about. It really helped me and gave my confidence in my paper.

Paper Two (Informational Paper)

● Compose for particular audiences and purposes.

My purpose for writing paper two was to write about the media so I decided to write specifically about how social media negatively affects adolescents. In paper two my audience was Dr. Asya and one peer from my class.

● Compose using language and conventions appropriate to genre.

In paper two I had to inform my reader about a certain topic that they might not have been familiar with. I had to write using formal language that was as professional due to the nature of my paper. I would define things such as cyberbullying and Facebook depression because my reader might not have been aware of the proper definition.

● Read, select, and use evidence critically to formulate and support

I used scholarly articles and different websites on the internet to gather as much information as I could about my topic. I used summary, quotation, and paraphrasing in my paper. An example of this is when I talked about the signs and symptoms of depression.

● Describe and apply appropriate writing processes both individually and in

collaborative contexts.

Individually, I found sources and came up with the specific topic for my paper. I also found that writing in cause and effect really helped me to have good structure throughout my paper, Collaboratively, a peer edited my paper and I edited their paper. This was one of the most helpful things I have done in a writing class because it allowed me to better find my own mistakes throughout my paper.

Paper Three (Argumentative Paper)

My purpose for writing paper three was to persuade my reader of the importance of my side of an issue which was “the legalization of marijuana.” I had to composed for Dr. Asya specifically for this paper.
