It's my average summer night in Vegas; I wasted a disturbingly large amount of time playing frustrating video games, followed by some self-hatred and nihilism which leads to me finding myself lying down, staring up above at the boring, ebony void known as the Vegas night sky. You see, the night sky of Vegas is quite different from every other night sky in the world. Where others may see a beautiful dark canvas filled with beaming specs of light, and marvelous colors - we here in Vegas have a much more obstructed, unique view. Our stars are the airplanes dancing gracefully across the blackened heavens above. The light we see is a projection from the Luxor, a casino that fires a beam of white into the night sky. Like most five-year-olds, I daydreamed of becoming an Astronaut. Unlike most five-year-olds, I haven't grown out of that stage. To this day, I still daydream about life outside of Earth and all of innovative and new things humanity could accomplish with zero gravity. On the topic of no gravity, I've always found myself getting pulled into videos by astronaut Chris Hadfield, who recorded videos documenting life out in the International Space Station. You never realize how much of everything we do is controlled by gravity until you see someone trying to live without it. From needing special technology and constant exercise to prevent the body from destroying all of its muscle to just not allowing pencils onto the ISS due to their ability to harm someone's eyes, life in space as of now looks hilariously awkward, but absolutely profound at the same time. With every new human accomplishment in space, I can't help but just daydream more about the future. Will we ever create artificial gravity in space stations? Will we colonize Mars in our lifetime? Just how far out can we as a species go out into space? With a topic as broad and spectacular as the universe, it's impossible to stop being curious once you get interested. These are the reasons why I believe there should be more investment in space research and technology. It would be a time consuming and financially draining quest, but the pay off in new technology, applications, resources, and expansion opportunities make it a goal to strive for. As our rate of consumption of Earth’s natural resources continues to increase, it is imperative that we invest in the research of outer space as a possible solution to sustaining the human race.
Naples is a very unique city that attracts people from all over the world to its beautiful surroundings. Amongst the pristine beaches and championship golf courses, a teenager can find many entertaining locations. One such area can be found in downtown Naples on Fifth Avenue. Along this stretch of road near the beach lies a vast array of shops, cafes, restaurants, and other establishments. I often find myself spending many nights on Fifth Avenue, walking along the tree-lined streets or sitting in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants.
But I have seen the city do an unbelievable sky. Redcaps and dining-car attendants who wouldn’t think of moving out of the city sometimes go on at great length about country skies they have seen from the windows of trains. But there is nothing to beat what a city can make of a night sky. It can empty itself of surface….go deep, starless (35).
When considering this topic, one might ask themselves why explore space? We explore space to compare other planets with the earth and to study the sun, to explore the universe while finding if intelligent life exists, for satellites to improve communications, weather forecasting, navigation, resource monitoring, and “to create a focal point for a new intellectual renaissance” (Ruzic).
Don’t Get Rid Of Space Humans have always been curious. In the early 1600s during The Renaissance, the questions about space began with Galileo and his telescope that he used to study the night sky and the stars (Galileo Biography). As time went on, more and more discoveries were made; Americans traveled to space and even landed on the moon. All of these courageous adventures and findings helped humanity gain more knowledge and advance technology such as flash drives and memory foam (Farrar). One of the only problems with these programs is that public interest has been directed elsewhere to war or famine and our government is not giving enough funding to the programs as it should.
Since the beginning of time, mankind has sought after learning about and exploring the universe. This yearning drove us to achieve such great things as the journey to the moon and the discovery of water on Mars. Nowadays, several people argue as to whether or not space exploration is worth the effort. I believe that it is humanity’s instinctual nature to pursue a better understanding of ourselves, and our universe. Further understanding of our universe will lead to the discovery of new technologies and ways to secure humanity’s survivability.

The universe, it's vastness, how it was created, and why we are a part of it amazes and astounds many people who are constantly searching for answers. Others believe they have the answers and try to persuade people to understand their view. Others don't even think about it at all.
As technology continues the expand, the knowledge in which humans learn also begins to broaden to deeper measures, that allow us to gain new and crucial information to better our future. Going in the depths of space only furthers the knowledge absorbed by the people working behind the scenes, as well as the people experiencing the endless wonders of the unknown. The amount of information one can learn from a trip to the moon or even mars can open up the human mind into new perspectives as well as ideas as to how to preserve the world we live in today. Taking the initiative to go onward into the vast void of space will not only bring forth a new way of living, better interactions with other nations, but the will to encourage others to learn
“Sheltered as we are by Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field, which deflect lethal radiation from space, we are like coddled children who have never ventured into a tough neighborhood” (Folger 2). Humans have been fascinated with space since the beginning of our time. Just like children and rough neighborhoods, we have tackled obstacle over obstacle to make it home again. In the end, we have a better knowledge and strength than before. The future of space exploration can assist us in answering the everlasting question of how the universe came to be. The more we explore the infinite galaxies, the more we can scientifically discover and create new technologies as science advances. As we continue to discover, we can create new fields and occupations for aspiring young students like myself.
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.

Space has always been a pivotal and utmost important subject for many years. In the past, scientists have made monumental advances in this field such as sending people into orbit and landing a man on the moon. Of course, this has only barely been explored and we still have a lot more to see of the ever-vast outer space. One of the most significant topics of all of science has only been touched and there’s still more to come.
