J.R.R. Tolkien was an english author well known for writing the classics The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and The Lord of The Rings. This fantasy series of books is one of the most popular in the world. Many film adaptations, spin offs, and even music have been made in dedication to these books. You could even say that they have their own fan base! With such a massive following, and business centered around the works of Tolkien definitely has the potential to become a huge success. I present to you my idea, a restaurant simply named Middle Earth. I choose this title because Middle Earth is the setting for Tolkien’s writings. Such a large city will bring in more customers to get the name out. The Silmarillion is a background of some sorts to The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. I would like to base the layout of the restaurant on the Silmarillion. A major theme in this creation story is Melkor’s rebellion. I would separate the restaurants into two sections, and a customer could enter either of these upon request. One side would be dedicated to the Valar. This section would have a choir singing, and very comfortable and warm decorations. The other section would represent Melkor, and this side would be decorated in a much darker fashion, with no choir singing. These sections will be separated by a curtain, and there will be a stage in the back of the restaurant. Whenever a show will be put on, the curtain will rise so all of the customers will be able to watch. I would like for the workers to act out scenes from these novels weekly. In chapter eighteen of The Hobbit, Thorin says, “If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” The menus will feature this quote. In Tolkien’s writings he mentions many fictional foods, and our cooks would take these ideas and bring these foods to life. An example is the bread called Lembas. Lembas is a special bread made by elves that is shaped like thin cakes and is very nutritious. Lembas is mentioned in The Silmarillion and Lord of The Rings. Many restaurants bring bread to every single table, so Middle Earth would take that tradition and call the bread
