My Second Home Rolling into her driveway, I knew there would be food ready for me to eat. She always had the best food. My mom didn’t like what she fed me all the time, but she didn’t try to stop her. Who could say no to your grandma? My grandma spoiled me all the time, and I loved it. There is no one else I would rather spend my time with than my grandma when I was a kid. My grandma Van Es is someone I love with all my heart because she was my babysitter, the lady with the food, the grandma with the sleepovers. When I was a little kid, probably around the age of four, I never had a babysitter. Either my mom would be home to watch me or I would go to my grandma’s. Once my mom got a job, my grandma’s was the place to go. I never complained …show more content…
Walking into her garage almost every morning, I could just smell the aroma of freshly baked, delicious chocolate chip cookies. Nothing was better than smelling cookies early in the morning. Sometimes my grandma would let me eat one cookie in the morning if she was in a really good mood. Her cookies were the best, even though they were just the freezer type. She always had cookies in stock at her house. That was the only dessert she ever had, but I didn’t complain. To go along with the cookies, I needed a drink. My grandma had a fridge in her garage where she kept all her drinks like pop, chocolate milk, and juice (Kool-Aid). Kool-Aid was my favorite thing to drink when I was little so I always picked the juice in the bottle.
My grandma was a great cook, but since she was getting older, she didn’t cook a lot of homemade meals. Instead, I had a lot of Hamburger Helper, Mac N Cheese, premade sub sandwiches, or grilled cheese. She did make homemade food once and a while, but I really didn’t mind having the other food. Actually, I really loved eating it. Sometimes as a side, I would have Doritos with French onion dip. That might sound really strange and disgusting but it is honestly really good. All these foods aren’t the healthiest, which is probably the reason why I became chubby, but she did feed me some healthy stuff, too. I loved going to my grandma’s because she had food that I like and that my house

For me, this included my grandma putting a little bit of blush on my cheeks and lipstick on my lips. I wanted to be just like grandma, so when she did my makeup, I felt just like her. I also wore her earrings if she let me. On occasion, my grandma would order Pizza Ranch for supper. She loved eating pizza, and I was her excuse for ordering it because otherwise she would never order pizza for herself. For a snack at night, she would serve cheddar popcorn in a bowl and we would watch a movie together. Sometimes we would get through the whole the thing, and other times we would go to bed early and not finish it. I always slept with my grandma, and I never left without a good night’s sleep. These sleepovers were always the highlights of my
Do you have a very important memory that you are sure will never leave your head? Well, um.. I do! This memory that i’m about to tell you about is very, very important to me. Every year we used to go to my Pawpaw’s for thanksgiving. It was so much fun. We would all get to his house and go inside. My Pawpaw basically lived in his garage! When we would get to his house, guess where he was! His garage! We would go say hi and what for more people to get to his house. My Mawmaw would make the best food ever! When more people got to there house we would go inside and eat. They had two tables and the kids would sit at one and the adults would sit at the other one. Well, it was time to get my food. I got my food. One thing that I got was mashed potatoes
I moved to the house I now live in when I was three years old. I was so excited to move as this meant I was going to live closer to my grandpa. What I did not realize was what wonderful neighbors my family would have. Although the neighbors’ kids were all a lot older than my brother and me, they were always very nice and would play lots of different games with us. I thought this was so cool considering that they were all boys. The oldest boy, Jayson, had cerebral palsy. Jayson was 18 years old. He walked a little funny and talked a little funny, but he was so friendly.
Standing on the balcony, I gazed at the darkened and starry sky above. Silence surrounded me as I took a glimpse at the deserted park before me. Memories bombarded my mind. As a young girl, the park was my favourite place to go. One cold winter’s night just like tonight as I looked upon the dark sky, I had decided to go for a walk. Wrapped up in my elegant scarlet red winter coat with gleaming black buttons descending down the front keeping away the winter chill. Wearing thick leggings as black as coal, leather boots lined with fur which kept my feet cozy.
It seemed so good and so long since I've had a cookie. My mom seemed like she was taunting me over there still making cookies and not letting me get another. I stole another and my mom didn't see me take it, I was like a ninja. I heard the doorbell ring "Doo de doo doo do de doo do. " I jumped out of my seat and went flying over to the door to see who it was.
...nts' house. She spent many hours with me making cookies and teaming up on my brother. I told her all my secrets and dreams. When I had to go back home, she would always write me letters. They were actually written by my grandpa. My mom tried to read them to me, but I wouldn't let her. However, I didn't know how to read, so I finally had to give in and let her read them to me.
It smelled so good. The aroma that filled the kitchen was the sweet smell of chocolate and the yeasty, heavenly smell bread also
I don't eat cinnamon rolls at all, and my mom and grandma always ask “why do you hate cinnamon rolls” because they LOVE cinnamon rolls. I usually say “ I hate cinnamon.” My Aunt, Uncle, and my cousins Jordan, Logan, and Eli came over to my Grandma’s house. We were all gathering there for the Ohio State
She could explain anything to me and I would understand straight away. She helped a lot for my education and always was there to help. My parents knew that she could teach me and show how hard it is these days and how hard I should work. That is why they always made sure I saw her enough but it never was for me.

“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends (Robot check).” A place becomes a home for me when I am around all the things that I enjoy and love. For example, when I am around everyone that I love, I enjoy a peaceful environment and the beautiful landscapes around me. The interpretation of home for me is not a physical thing that I see or that I can remember or even certain thoughts that I can relate, but it is a sensation that overcomes me when I envision being in the comfort of my own home. I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
Two years ago today my great grandmother passed away from old age and suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Although all of my memories with her are vague, I will never forget the happiness that emanated from her when you were around her.
