Cancer or cancer cells are the cells that have lost the normal control that body are able to exert on old cells. In our body, we have billions of cells, and they have different function. It is a very complicated process under incredible control. If something goes wrong, and that control is lost, the cell escaped the control mechanisms. They continue to grow and spread, and that is when we call it cancer. Those cells together we would call it tumor. Specifically, cancer is a malignant tumor. We call it malignant is because not only because it could invade to the adjacent organs, but also because unfortunately cancer can spread to other tissues, and that can be life threatening.

There are several things that are very relevant. The stage of the cancer, which is the location of the cancer. You say its a particular kind of a cancer, how much cancer is present, has it spread? Is it in lymph nodes? has it spread to other organs of the body? Cancer treatment is very complex, and part of the reason is because cancer is the constellation of over 200 different deceases. They have common characteristics, but they are all very different from each other. In addition to that, cancer itself is not homogeneous. There might be numerous slight variations in cancer cells. These signals are interpreted in nucleus, and the cell reproduce its genetic information, and divide into two identical daughter cells through a process called mitosis. Cancer cells do not obey this rule, and will divide even when they do not receive the proper signal. In addition to the signal that normal cells receive that telling them to divide, they are also told when to stop dividing. This prevent too many cells from being made. In face, this cell division process is a highly ordered process. This is a critical issue in cancer, because cancer cells do not obey or require normal signals for division. This could lead to the formation of mass of cells that piles up that may form a tumor. Also different from nomad cells is the ability of cancer cells to divide indefinitely. A important point about cells is that no matter what their job is in a body, they all have the same general structure that they all have different kinds of organelles that play different important functions for the cell. Of particularly important for cancer is the organelle known as the nucleus. The nucleus contains the blueprint of information for each and one of us just as a manual would contain the instruction for a chair. Specifically, this information is contained in the chromosomes that reside in the nucleus. Individual unit of informations are called genes. At a chemical level, genes are made of
