Descriptive Essay: Growing Up In Vacaville

Growing up in Vacaville, nestled between the cities of San Francisco and Sacramento in Northern California you got to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and the creatures that live within it. That mixed with a growing city, new stores and homes being built every year you got a bit of both country living and city life. From cows, and turkeys to deer and geese if you grew up in Vacaville seeing these were a regular occurence. I never did cow tip but I did get the pleasure of seeing a herd of cows break through a fence and block a main road setting traffic back for hours.

Growing up here I felt safe, and I suspect, I existed within a bubble where the problems of the world didn't exist, but with such a world there was also a lot of boredom. Vacaville

didn't have clubs for teens, or tons of game centers. We had school activities and our imagination and when you couldn't imagine anything to do you consumed food or bought things and since I didn't have a lot of money I ate a lot.

Vacaville has a large amount of restaurants, most which aren't healthy. We aren't a big town but we have 5 McDonalds, 5 Taco Bells, 3 Burger Kings, In n Out, Chili's, Applebees, and any other fast food restaurant you can think of. There is even a hill nicknamed Hamburger Hill because there's nothing but food there. Beyond the fast food we have quality restaurants which have menu's from around the world including China, India,Italy, Mexico, France, Spain and more. We have several sushi restaurants and there's still more being added. Restaurants that specialize in Seafood or American, and even Steak. Oh, and I shouldn't forget we practically have a Starbucks on every main street and even in stores. The one thing we don't have a lot of is vegetarian and vegan restaurants, which wasn't a problem when I was a child, but since my diet doesn't consist of meat anymore it's hard to find a place to eat, outside of the one deli that sits behind a health food store. Essentially there aren't any popular foods in our area, if there's a type of food you want we probably have it and when I was a kid I had a lot of it.
