My hands are all sweaty, my legs are stiff, and my body is cold as I stand on the thin wooden platform 25-feet high from the ground, getting ready to test the Flying Trapeze. I can feel myself trembling as I use my right hand to reach for the bar in front of me. Letting go of the pole that my left hand was holding on so that I can hold the bar with my two hands was the second scariest part of my experience since it gave me the feeling of falling. Good thing, one of the instructors was holding my belt from behind. Once I’m in the position to jump – knees are bend, back is straight and body is leaned forward – the instructor told me to hop. Actually, he repeated it twice because I was afraid to jump the first time. I released a loud scream as …show more content…
The trapeze which is hanging by two ropes dangling in the air and free to swing is one of the major components in a circus and is usually used by acrobats. Like what I did, Filipinos can now try and even learn this breathtaking circus act in the Philippines through the Flying Trapeze Philippines which is located in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. They can allow themselves to act as one of the performers in a circus as what they usually see in festivals, TV shows, movies or commercials. Apart from that, they can fulfill their dreams of flying with great ease in the …show more content…
“No experience necessary to sign up for classes,” he said. Flying Trapeze Philippines is open for all, starting at the age of 6 but with a weight limit of 250 pounds. In fact, Will Hsu has been flying since the age of 8. Growing up in the states, he used his talent to teach students and earn from it so he can help himself pay for college. The reason why he thought of putting this up in the Philippines is he noticed that no one is teaching this kind of activity in the country. He knows that there are trapeze shows in the Philippines but there is no one to teach it to the zealous Filipinos. Seeing the opening of anti-gravity yoga and parkour in the country, he wants to introduce this activity to the Filipinos also as a form of
Today, most stunts are done by highly trained professionals. They know how to safely flip cars fight, and fall from great heights (think ropes and giant air bags). Many have sports backgrounds. Bobby Holland Hanton, who performed in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: The Dark World, was a gymnast. Katie Eischen, who worked in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Furious 7, did track cheerleading, and volleyball. As for Rementer, he has been studying martial arts since elementary
Writing on this topic, the old Schoolhouse Rock song “Three Ringed Circus” comes to mind. In the song, a young boy describes the system of government, like the title suggests, as a three ringed circus. Each ring connects to each other, with a bit of their own ring in that of the others. The rings are separate and whole, with a bit of control over what happens in the other rings. This metaphor accurately describes the system of checks and balances in the American government, to keep one of the “rings” of the federal government from taking total control. Though the Supreme Court has the final say on the constitutionality on any legislature from Congress or the President, each of those branches has their own different forms of control over the
Every year since I was a freshman in high school my family would all pack into our car and head to Six Flags for my father’s job. This was usually one day I could count on for unexpected entertainment. Each year was a new experience in the making because one year it may be sunny or one year it may rain, but HEY! Its Georgia weather what can you do about it?
As I sit here with my eyes closed, I imagine a tropical breeze. The warm wet air slides over my face. The humidity seems almost heavy enough to crush me. As I take a deep breath, the realization that this is no tropical air comes crashing in. Instead of the refreshing scent of the ocean, or tropical plants, the taste of salt from sweat and a smell of the human body fill my lungs. The daydream is over. A shrill whistle sounds and the voice of coach Chuck booms through out the room, breaking the peace that was comforting the pain in my shoulder and bringing me back to reality. I was not on some humid island paradise, but rather in the explosive atmosphere of the Hotchkiss High School wrestling room.
Theatre has heavily evolved over the past 100 years, particularly Musical Theatre- a subgenre of theatre in which the storyline is conveyed relying on songs and lyrics rather than dialogue. From its origination in Athens, musical theatre has spread across the world and is a popular form of entertainment today. This essay will discuss the evolution and change of musical theatre from 1980-2016, primarily focusing on Broadway (New York) and the West End (London). It will consider in depth, the time periods of: The 1980s: “Brit Hits”- the influence of European mega musicals, the 1990s: “The downfall of musicals”- what failed and what redeemed, and the 2000s/2010s: “The Resurgence of musicals”- including the rise of pop and movie musicals. Concluding
It was a warm and sunny Saturday morning when my friend, Sivi, and I left our home to travel to the small local airport located outside of town. Just the previous night we had received 4 hours of classroom training in how to perform a successful "Skydive" and now we would receive 4 more hours of practical, hands-on training.
The installation is made of 1,500 pairs of scissors suspended in the air in a circle 20 feet across, each of their black iron handles held aloft by a slender strand of black saltwater fishing line. The reason of this is because the fishing line may tear apart anytime, and if this happens, it could be hazardous and give a risk to the performer who sits below the cloud of scissors and the visitors who admire the performance. To support the idea, a founder of mutantspace.com arts skills exchange, Moray Mair, commented that “The work seems to be a balance between terrifying danger and calmness, but I see nothing calming about it at all.” (Mutantspace.com, August 2012). Although this project has ended and there is no accident happened, the artist would still have to be concerned about the probability of the risk that could happen in the future
My internal organs thumped against my chest as I dragged my bag along the carpet floor and into the corridor. As I walked into the long hall, I glanced up and noticed the sign telling me I could get on. My entire body could barely hold itself together with the anticipation of the monumental, dream-come-true event about to take place. I said to myself, "I'll soon be in the air." I slowed my pace to further enjoy what was happening. Swarms of people walked around me as I treasured knowing that one of my lifetime goals was now inevitably going to occur. The excitement and adrenaline running through my veins could have killed a horse.
The roar of the people surrounding me is like being right behind the jet of
When most people think about an eventful or memorable place, they almost certainly would not picture a bus. As we all know, buses are not exactly attractive. The design scheme is the same in almost every bus: rows and rows of brown seats, a thin black aisle down the middle of the bus, hundreds of hazy windows, and the big, lemon-yellow exterior. Not many people, I am sure, would consider buses to be an important part of their lives. However, if a person were to think about it, they would realize that they probably have had at least one memorable experience in their life that took place on a bus.
I have always been fascinated by carnival rides. It amazes me that average, ordinary people eagerly trade in the serenity of the ground for the chance to be tossed through the air like vegetables in a food processor. It amazes me that at some time in history someone thought that people would enjoy this, and that person invented what must have been the first of these terrifying machines. For me, it is precisely the thrill and excitement of having survived the ride that keeps me coming back for more.
Eren watched the retreating backs of his two best friends as they walked on ahead chatting animatedly with each other as if they haven’t wronged him in any way. How could they betray him like this? Mikasa must’ve noticed her brother’s grumbling behind her because she stopped and pressed her finger into his forehead without him realizing. The jolt surprised him and anger overtook surprise in a matter of seconds.

There is an event that I just can describe as one of the most unique and memorable in my life: attending my first concert. After years of listening to Ron Pope’s music, watching his YouTube channel, and following all of his social media accounts, the satisfaction of seeing someone whose music has been the soundtrack to my life for so long was unreal. There were moments that I had to internally remind myself that this is, in fact, happening in real life. Being a dedicated (some may say eccentrically so) fan is tough work – and I was rewarded with two hours of pure magic for one night. Attending my first concert was a unique event that I will always remember fondly because of the atmosphere, the amazing performance and the sense of connection
Roughly ten minutes had passed, and I was having loads of fun. I tried to make the zipline more challenging by sending the handhold about half way out along the line so that I had to dive to grab it. My hands were beginning to sweat. Another class had just exited the school to come to the playground, and I wanted to impress all of my friends, so I pushed the handhold out even further than before. I had made the dive plenty of times prior to the fall, but when I dove this time, my hands slipped and I fell. I believe that as I fell I may have blacked out for a moment, but I can’t be entirely sure.
