I don 't know what 's worst about being the a red head; the fact that every thinks you 're low tempered and soulless, or the fact that you 're easiest to spot. It was the last week of summer when I spoke to him again. That would 've been the first time in two years. You would think talking to someone who you haven 't talked to in such a long time would be a special and heart-warming, but no, no- seeing Grayson was the opposite. Who would 've thought that my best friend, the one who used to treat me like his princess, would 've turned out to be a complete asstard. Now mind you, I wasn 't expecting a whole dance and cheer with a sign saying, "long time no see, Cam!" but I also wasn 't expecting to be humiliated in front of a bunch of my peers. …show more content…
My hair was in it 's usual mane of curls since Jennifer was too lazy to deal with it, my nails were painted black and my eyes were decorated with eyeliner, mascara, and a light blue eye shadow. My outfit was pretty simple. I had chosen to wear a dark blue halter top with my favorite pair of ripped black skinny jeans, and my black converse. When we finished getting dressed, I wrote a note to my mother, telling her I was going to be out, and got into Jenn 's car. The drive to my other best friend, Dylan 's house wasnt that long. Only about ten minutes. The drive to his house was comfotably silent. The kind of comfortable silence that surrounds you when you are around someone you love. We pulled up to his house and beeped, signaling to him that we were ready to go. Within thirty seconds, Dylan came running (and nearly falling) down his porch steps, and slid into Jennifer 's car. "Hey, ladies," Dylan greeted. From the car, I could see his casual attire and his unruly, tousled hair. I have to admit, Dylan is a looker. Whenever we would all go out, we 'd see a bunch of horny females whispering to their friends telling them how hot he is and trust me, he is super oblivious to all of …show more content…
Every now and then, I 'd catch Jenn staring at him through her rear-view mirror, but like I mentioned earlier, Dylan 's pretty oblivious so obviously he didn 't catch her. I 've always notice the slight mood changes that occur as soon as Dylan accompanies Jenn and I. With me, her behavior 's more eccentric and happy. When Dylan 's around, she changes her whole demeanor to this tough girl who couldn 't give two shits about anything. Don 't get me wrong, she still her happy, bubbly self, but not as much. It 's as if a wall has been

Just as Zora Neale Hurston explained in her article, “How it Feels to be Colored Me,” I never thought much about race until I was about thirteen years old during my junior high school years. As Zora stated, “I remember the very day that I became colored” (30). I, too, recall the day I realized that I was white and that it meant something more than just a Crayola color. No longer was white just a color; it was the race I belonged to with its own rules and regulations.
Her mascara smudged onto the fabric as a tear fell down her cheek onto the fluffy white pillow. Her headphones rested in her ear playing songs that held many memories of the recently broken up couple. The song that her and the short, blonde, and shy soccer player had slow danced to, played on her ipod. The memory of their slow dance at the valentine ball replayed in her mind as if she were still in the moment. She replayed how he asked her to the dance with a valentine gift- a box of conversation hearts. They met at the school to go to the dance and he gave her the red and yellow ticket. She was dressed in a pink and grey sweater and the gym was warm with all of the middle school students combined

Ow. My head hurts. It has been lying against this wall for at least an hour now. I scratched the back of my head to move around my dark, curly hair. It was beginning to feel plastered against my scalp. It was a bit tangled from not brushing it for a day and my fingers did not run through it with ease; nevertheless, it felt good to keep the blood flowing. I was lying on a thin, light blue mat on the floor. My head was propped up against the cold wall as if it were a concrete pillow. My chin dug into my chest and I could feel the soft, warm material from my sleeveless sweater cushioning my jaw. I looked down. I could see the ends of my hair cascading over my shoulders. The red highlights matched quite nicely with my maroon sweater. My arms were folded over my belly and they appeared more pale than usual. My knees were bent, shooting upward like two cliffs. My baggy blue jeans covered the backs of my fake brown leather shoes. ("Christy, let me borrow your pants, the baggy ones with the big pockets. I can hide more stuff in those.")
Colorism has became a huge issue in today’s society. Colorism is an issue because, it is a form of racism, it reflects back on the days of slavery, it is overall rude, and jail terms are affected.
It was just another day of my life. The fourth ring of my alarm woke me up. As usual, I was not feeling to go in school. I slept a couple of more minutes. After while, the shine of the sun coming from the window woke me up.I slowly stretched my arms and slid out of bed. I brushed my teeth and took the shower. Downstair,my mother was calling me for breakfast.I was still undecided what should wear for school. After browsing for while I found something to wear, and finished getting myself ready for school. When I checked the clock, I was running late as usual, which was not a surprised. I quickly ate my half sandwich and left the rest of the sandwich on the table.I took my car key, jump in my black Lexus and made my way to school.During my way to school, I got a call from my friend John. Then, I heard everyone scream “Surprise!” I could not believe my eyes. There was decoration all over the living room, a cake on the table, music and a big bouquet of pink flowers. My eyes start tearing. I was delighted and humbled by how lucky I was to have such an amazing family. I ran up to my parents, my three brothers, and sisters in law and hugged all of them. We started singing and dancing I cannot forget those moments of my life. Then I realized time was running and that I still had to go to my cousin’s house to do my makeup. I rushed to her house leaving my family at home, so they could get ready, and we could later celebrate after the graduation. As, Sandra was putting on my makeup; I was thinking of how I was going to react when they called my name on the stage. I was smiling as I was thinking of the moment of my
It’s about 7:45 P.M. April 15, 2015. Jasmine is calling my name asking if I’m ready to go. As I’m trying to put all the loose ends together, I think I’m ready. My hair is done in a curly up do with a thin white braided hair band, makeup rushed but it will do, and I’m wearing a knee length white dress. Just a simple white dress, form fitting, made from a linen type of material. My stomach is turning and twisting. As my mind is racing we make way to the park. Jasmine seems to be more eager than I am. As we arrive to the park my legs are a trembling mess. I feel like my mind is in a state of chaos. As I feel my chest pumping harder and harder, it feels tighter and tighter. This day will mark a very important day for the rest of my life. Today is the day I marry my husband. On this day my family becomes one.
