First off I am Stephen Hunter Poindexter and I am a machine tool student at central Virginia community college. When I am not at school at CVCC I am a full time machinist at S&S machine technologies in Madison Heights Virginia. Some of my values concerning life in general are hard work, honesty, and respect for others. These values play a roll in making me a better student as well as a better employee for my company. I have had many achievements in my life, notably, I graduated liberty high school class of 2012. I am a volunteer fireman at big island fire department where I hold the rank of president of the company as well as many certifications. Another of my achievements is being the first of my family to go to college. I also bring a few …show more content…
A CNC machinist’s average salary is $20.25 per hour for a certified, trained employee. Machinists need characteristics such as attention to detail and math skills. Personally I feel I will fit into this job perfectly for multiple reasons. First, I have already been in a machine shop environment for over a year and have gotten used to day-to-day activities that I would be performing. Also I have a fairly good mindset as far as how to create something using such machines as found in a shop environment. Another good point would be my ability to work with others to complete tasks. A machinist must be able to communicate with other members of the operation such as other machinist, the engineer, or the shop foreman. In my experience job shops such as the one I currently work have much room to grow in your career. I started over a year ago and have had multiple promotions due to my hard work and dedication. Even higher than my position is multiple places to reach such as supervisor and shop foreman. According to the Bauru of labor statistics the occupation of machine tool is projected to rise as stated “Employment of machinists and …show more content…
Due to me already being in the field of machining the career wouldn’t much change my lifestyle other than getting the education I need to advance up the ladder. In most cases only a high school diploma or equivalent is required to get a job in machine tool however in order to advance further than on the job training can more education is necessary. The Bauru of labor statistics states “Machinists train in apprenticeship programs, vocational schools, community and technical colleges, or on the job. Tool and die makers receive several years of technical instruction and on-the-job training. A high school diploma is necessary.” However it is important that you have a basic feel for what you want to do in the field. Due to the advancements in machines recently production of the CNC style machine has taken a lead over conventional hand operated ones. Author James Siemen stated that a CNC machine is “is a machining process in which a computer controls the movements of a lathe or milling machine” meaning that due to the computer controlling the movement of the tool operations can be completed with less human error involved and therefore more effectively. Machinist Tom Janicke supports this thery by saying “I frequently fabricate one or more parts in equal or less time than can be produced on a manual machine and have done so for 25
Your values and expectations in life. How do you measure success? Happiness? My values all stem from God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. My family, God and my career are my successes and happiness. My expectations are to be the best I can be and to always keep trying. You can do anything you put your mind to and never give up.
“If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” (Maya Angelou) To me success is not measured solely by your financial wealth and career achievements, but by genuinely helping others reach their fullest potential in life. Uplifting young women and encouraging them to follow their dreams is something I strive for day to day. A woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated displays leadership, commitment, high scholastic and ethical standards, which are all qualities that I possess.
My extracurricular and academic activities have helped mold me into a person with character and good qualities. These qualities--respect, humility, kindness, ambition, appreciation for diversity and collaboration, and courage--have not come without valuable failures and lessons. I can continue to develop these qualities and build upon these lessons as I go forward with my university goals and the desire I have to enter the healthcare profession as a nurse. I am able to look beyond the exciting, glamorous parts of both and see that there will be lots of hard work and difficulty. I am ready to face those challenges and do my best and give my all.
There is a long road ahead of everyone after high school some people don't have a clue what they are gonna do after school. It is a really hard decision what you are gonna do after you graduate but for me it was not that hard to decide. I decided that I wanted to go into the welding career, it is a really good career to get into it is a high paying job but it is hard work and you have to be willing to travel a lot. I decided on this career because I love to weld and i enjoy the hard work. I enjoy building things and laying the beads and saying hey I built that. My brother got into the welding career and loves it but he says the only downfall is having to travel all the time. He is the one that persuaded me to go into the welding career and
...lties that Charter presented to them. In Charter, I had to continuously work hard in order to catch up with the other students. I had to teach myself how to write essays, how to do algebra, basic geography and more. In the end it was all worth it. My ethnicity, my experiences, and my parents’ sacrifices have taught me to strive on and never give up. Even if it’s difficult, I refuse to give up without a fight. Through the lessons I learned and the challenges I faced, I realize that my goal in life isn’t just to succeed, but to serve others as well. I do not view success as having a higher grade, or a better job, but what I do to help others along the way. With this motto, I desire to live a life where I can be proud to say that I did something to leave an impact in other people’s lives, and that I helped others get through their struggles just as I got through mine.
I will be graduating with my Associate Degree in Liberal Arts specializing in Health Science and will be continuing on the with my education in a Nursing program at Harrisburg Area Community College. Many of the morals and ethics that I have towards my field of study and the career path I have chosen correlate well with the College’s Core Values of Mercy. The College’s Core Values of Mercy are Mercy, Service, Hospitality, and Justice. In the healthcare field all these core values are at the fore front of our careers and are used every day with every patient and their families. Even now I incorporate these core values into my life because I work as an Emergency Medical Technician back home and I use these values to make all my decisions

This skill trade is important in today's society for many reasons. One reason is the fact that it can be used in just about any manufacturing and construction field ranging from making handrails down stairs and all the way to ship building. Furthermore, depending on how confident you are with your own welding skills, it may even be possible to get a career within nascar in regards to building chassis and roll cages or perhaps even nasa where welding exotic metals on space shuttles is not out of the normal. Not only that but, with the growing infrastructure towards alternative fuels more and more pipelines will be needed. This will result in a higher demand for proficient welders. Another important aspect towards a welding career is there
Coming from a working class family, I understand the value of hard work and how important it is. My family and I moved to the United States in 2006 and ever since then my parents have taught me the value of hard work in achieving success. In all that I pursue, they taught me that working hard is the only way to be successful. Therefore, I have applied these principles they taught me in my education. As a senior, I have the most challenging
With employment prospects expected to increase by the time you finish college the is a better chance of you finding the a job. No doubt pipelining is a challenging job but with years of experience it gets easier. Nonetheless a pipeline engineer is a great job to consider for the future.
I feel that all successful people must make a major positive contribution to the world in some way during their lifetimes. Not everyone can do this, however, and it seems that your view on life has a major effect on your ability to do so. I hope that while developing my skills I also will develop the mindset required to make a major contribution to the world. Ultimately, I think that if I continue to participate in extracurricular activities and courses that hone my knowledge and skills I will be able to have a successful career as a computer engineer, and eventually have an impact on the world for the greater good.
My personal values include hard work, honesty, achieving success in life, being flexible and helping others. My values evolve around leading a fulfilling lifestyle that allows me to be a supportive, loving and contributing member of my family and community. I have always regarded myself with having the best work ethic of anyone I knew. When at high school, I thought as myself as the best all-around student, and person. Being highly regarded by both faculty and students was a great confidence boost when I began my college application process, but I soon realized how it was hard to but all of my accomplishments, into a very short essay. I was not, and still am not the best academically in my class, but to me, it doesn’t matter if my GPA isn’t a 4.0 or if I didn’t graduate valedictorian of my class. What I know is I possess skills that make me the best candidate for anything I want to pursue.
There were many instances in my life that have shaped my values, intellect, and academic or career goals. I was raised by my parents to become a hard worker, independent, and caring young adult. I was taught how to be all these qualities by a combination of experiencing and witnessing them first hand.
This change makes me involve in more other activities and eventually leads me to a successful Engineer. Education brings me a healthy body and mind throughout my life. Finally a career that embraces a program of continuous lifelong learning will ensure that I have a successful career. Because every moment of time, everywhere, under all circumstances something is being added to our previous attainments. My Career will be filled with many proud accomplishments, earning respect from colleagues, friends and a career that is fun and exciting.
