If someone had asked me several years ago what I wanted to be when I grow up, I would’ve never guessed to be working in Education, much less in teaching. My youth pastor and my grandmother both were significantly influential in the decision process. My youth pastor provided me with opportunities to teach both middle school students and elementary school children in Bible related content plus for our tutoring ministry in school content areas. My grandmother assisted me in overcoming the struggles involved of early teaching, giving critical advice and much needed motivation.
I chose to work with adolescents after I realized they too have legitimate problems in life similar to the ones I had to struggle with. I realized that since I have the

The worst teacher was one of my 5th grade teachers who at that time was my middle school teacher. To this day I would say she is a mean teacher when it comes to discipline. However, I did learn from her to be more positive when it comes to discipline. That means, of course, to discipline the students for their wrongdoings without constantly singling out particular students, but positively advising the student how they can learn from the situation. Being the sensitive student, I had another 5th grade teacher totally crush my dreams of singing. This was the beginning of my tough middle school years which I do not want anyone else to have to go through. I was able to get through middle school with the help of my high school teachers. Honestly, the majority of those teachers were the best I have had. If I had to choose, I would narrow it down to two English teachers and one science teacher. I chose these three because even though they taught different content areas, their teaching practices were very similar. If a student was stressed because they did not understand the material, or if the student misbehaved during class because the material was too tough or too easy, these teachers knew exactly what to do. I was one of the stressed students, and these teachers did everything they could to teach the content differently so I could understand it, while encouraging me that it is possible to learn anything I put my mind
The main reason I would like to become a teacher is the love for little kids. I really enjoy being around children. After teaching Sunday School to children up to 8 years of age for over five years, I feel that I can relate to them and connect with them very well. I also feel that students look up to teachers, so they are a very big influence on the children's’ lives. I would love to know that I could make such a big influence on a child’s life. In my opinion teachers have an impact on the life of every student they ever have in class.
I chose to go into the field of Social Work. The reason being I felt that I was good at helping others. I am helpful by nature and I tend to attract those looking to be helped. I believe my career choice is appropriate for me because I do fill enjoyment when I help others. It is something that I get tired of at times but the end result always lifts my spirits. I have been in the helping field for 20 years and I can’t think of any other career that would work best for me.
I strongly believe that working with youths is essential because nowadays they need more than ever before someone who is willing to listen to them without judgement and to be able to see themselves in another light than what they have always been expected to be seen as. In addition, they are the adults of tomorrow and they deserve to live a full life of chances and healthy relationships with another. If hired, I would be proud to be a part of the CHSi family and help continue that support for future
My mind has been opened to different ideas in the school, such as, where I would prefer to teach, or different discipline and learning ideas for students. I am very thankful for the opportunity I had to observe Mrs. Lee and spend time at Oak Park Elementary. This observation has made me see that my main goal to be a teacher is to educate children and to love of them. As I looked at the different faces of some of the students and the way Mrs. Lee interacted with compassion and care towards them was something that I want to strive for when I become a teacher. I do still plan to be a teacher if the Lord continues to lead me in that path. If I did not become a teacher, I would still want to somehow be involved with the school system or with helping children through life

I work with children and families now on a daily basis and enjoy it. I actually could never picture myself doing anything else at this point. For the last thirteen years I have been helping others and that makes me feel good. I know they were helped, they are in a better situation, and I am blessed to be in the situation to do that. I want to pursue professional social work education because there is more people out there in need and I feel a calling in that field. When you love something you do then it is never called a job in my
She was the most caring and dedicated teacher I ever had and she respected every student as an individual. On the other hand, she had a very negative influence on my life. She is the person who told me there was no Santa Clause, which ruined Christmas for me for a very long time. Another person who has had a great influence on my life is Mr. Robinson. He was my first band teacher. He is the person who convinced me to join band, which
Troubled Youth Despite many obstacles in my life, my experience performing community service stands out as the most memorable. I was sixteen at the time, and just beginning my first job at a fast food restaurant. I had to learn how to balance community service in the morning with my employment at the local Wendy’s. It was very stressful and influential at the same time.
The main reason I chose the social work profession, manifested early within my stages of childhood. The importance of giving to and caring for those in need, were deeply embedded in my very soul. Being reared by my grandmother, a nurse and by my teenage mother, a psychology student, I was exposed constantly to acts of kindness and generosity. As a result to my empathetic personality, I was welcomed into many social and ethnic groups, not commonly open to a young gay black male. In these younger years with the assistance of my parents, my love for others allowed me to help other teenagers in crisis, often providing shelter, advice, monetary assistance and a listening
As an education major at State College, I’ve decided to become a teacher for several reasons. As I progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, many of my teachers were great role models for me. This has inspired me to become a role model for someone in the near future. My love for science and math has also influenced my desire to teach and make a difference in a child’s life. I want to teach students the subjects that I love so much. I want the feeling that I helped a child accomplish or learn something they couldn’t understand. One of the main reasons I want to become an educator is because I feel education has really lost teachers who truly love teaching and those who truly love teaching and those who have the desire to make a difference. I feel I can really help make a difference in the education world and bring back the love to teach.
To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
Knowledge of Content: My high school Algebra teacher was very knowledgeable of her content area. She could explain the rules and methods of Algebra with ease. She also knew how to make it easier for her students to understand.
The good teacher works with all students.A friend of mine told me how her maths teacher tolerates only students who are good at mathematics or those who have special interest in the subject.Towards the rest of the class my friend says she`s very exacting. She gives homeworks and tests without bothering to ask about difficulties. She doesn`t try to explain it and as a result many students keep getting bad marks.
Every teacher I had was encouraging, loving, and supportive of each student that they taught. If one student falls behind, the teacher makes extra sure to teach and re-teach the subject until it is understood. Once I entered the fifth grade and into middle and high school, each teacher that I had tried to be encouraging, loving, and supportive of their students; however, my teachers often had too many students to give the individual attention that so many children need. When I began to fall behind in certain subjects, my teachers tried to help but were often unable to teach and re-teach, because they had no choice but to continue on with their lesson plans. I continued to fall further and further behind; therefore, I had to spend many hours after school working on my homework problems with my parents.
