What events contribute to make a person behave the way they do? How does the wealth, intelligence, atmosphere, psychological factors, and their social interactions affect the person? Behavior is defined as the observable activity in a human or animal. There are many factors that contribute to the way a person behaves. These contributions can vary from person to person; one person might have one of the factors that determines one persons behavior but the other person may not. A person that is of wealthy decent has more issues functioning as a “normal” person, finding it difficult adapting to real world life and real world problems. The intelligence levels of an individual reflect in their behavior. My evidence for the claim previously made is a survey I conducted on thirteen teachers at Woodrow Wilson High School. The survey states the question, “Do you think there is a correlation between behavior and intelligence?” In my findings ten out of the thirteen teachers surveyed think there is a correlation between behavior and intelligence, that is 77%. Some of the quotes from the teachers surveys that support the claims are, “On multiple occurrences, I have witnessed a direct correlation of behavior and grade, i.e. poor (low) behaviors led to low grades and good (high) behaviors led to high grades.” “I feel that bad behavior promotes bad grades.” “For the vast majority, I believe that lower intellect levels do lead to bad behavior. As a teacher, it is common place to expect bad behavior from students that have a lower intellect.” “I do believe there is a correlation. Sometimes people with low intelligence do not understand what constitutes bad behavior, nor do they truly understand the consequences.” “I think there is a huge correlation between behavior and intelligence.” “ I believe there is a direct correlation between behavior and intelligence. A persons behavior is greatly affected on peer pressure and influence. Peer influence is defined as “when you choose to do something you wouldn't otherwise do, because you want to feel accepted and valued by your friends”(Peer pressure and influence:teenagers). Peer pressure is defined as “social pressure by members of one’s peer group to take a certain action, adopt certain values, or otherwise conform in order to be accepted” (Dictionary.com). Peer pressure can either be negative or positive. Negative peer pressure tends to make people do things that promote bad behavior, such as cigarette smoking, truancy, drug use, sexual activity, fighting, theft, etc. If an individual surrounds theirself with other individuals that partake in activities such as these they are more likely to do them even if they know it is wrong.
