The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are both integral parts of the defense of the nation. Both agencies attempt to prevent, mitigate, and respond to acts of terrorism, cyber security issues and disasters. The agencies each have their own respective goals and tasks regarding the aforementioned issues, even though the above matters are a joint concern. The website for the FBI (fbi.gov) states that the agency is tasked with investigating terrorism, cyber crime, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD). This responsibility is more along the lines of guarding and responding to incidents, as opposed to law enforcement.
