Dental implants are a great option for replacing missing teeth. Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants are permanent. Although permanent, dental implants require routine maintenance and care to ensure they remain healthy and strong. So how should you care for your dental implants? Here are four good tips:
1. Brush and Floss Daily
Perhaps the best tip is to practice good oral hygiene. Whether you have a single dental implant—or an entire mouth full—you still need to maintain good oral hygiene. Without daily brushing and flossing, your mouth experiences a buildup of bacteria and plaque. Together, these two culprits can cause gaps or pockets around your implant which allows them to penetrate your gums and bones. When this occurs, your dental implants may become weak or loose. So be sure you brush and floss at least twice daily to keep your implants in good condition. …show more content…

Use The Right Toothbrush
Another helpful tip is to ensure you are using the right toothbrush. If you only have a single dental implant, your regular toothbrush will work just fine. These toothbrushes make it much easier to clean around the implant, which will keep them cleaner and healthier.
3. Be Conscious and Careful

This is because too much force can cause your implant to crack, loosen, or even break—just like your regular teeth would. So while you don't need to avoid these foods, you should be careful when eating them.
On the same note, make sure you do not clench or grind your teeth. If you know that you do this, consult your dentist. If you clench or grind your teeth at night, your dentist can give you a mouth guard that will help protect your teeth and dental implants from damage.
4. Undergo Regular
