Techniques

Effective demonstration
Demonstration is one of the key techniques used by coaches.
A coach should be good at giving a demonstration because it is an important part to coaching especially for younger age groups. People learn through watching and copying. The coach should ensure that the players are listening and watching the demonstration. You should keep them interested so that everyone keeps paying attention. Demonstrations are a good way to learn new skills because you can go through them at a slower rate or walk through them and you can also focus on certain points or techniques. It is also good because people can see what they need to do and an advantage of this is that they can ask questions and get feedback from the players as you go through it.
A good use off demonstrations is in rugby when you are teaching the technique for malls. Malls are hard to teach without demonstrations because you cannot see all the players so when you are doing a demo you can break it down and look at it from different angles so everyone can see what all the different players are doing.

The coach can focus on individuals and demonstrate what they need to do. A demonstration can be done by the coach where he actually goes through moves and shows the players what to do. Equally the coach can use his players for the demonstration and move them about so that everyone learns the technique and positioning. Videos can also be used to demonstrate but often it is more useful to do the demo in practice.
This will improve their game because they will be able use malls as a way of making ground so they will get closer to the try line which will mean they have more opportunities to score. This then could lead them to winning the game.

A good coach needs to be adaptable and to ensure that the training is of benefit to each individual. In individual participation sports this may be easier than in a team sport. For example a coach may teach tennis one-to-one. He still needs to think about what is best for that individual player.
Coaches need to be able to give technical instruction. Each sport has its own skills and techniques. In cycling a coach will need to teach cadence. This is a technique where cyclists control the number of revolutions per minute. Top cyclists such as Bradley Wiggins use cadence. A cycling coach will need to teach the technique if a sports cyclist is to have any chance of winning competitions.
