Recommended: Meaning of success
Success differs from one person to another and, in my opinion, does not have anything to do with material goods but is rather tied to broader concepts, for example, happiness, health and overcoming obstacles. When we are not as healthy as we can be, it is hard to push ahead and maintain a sense of fulfillment from life. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, success means a favorable or desired outcome. It can also mean the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence. Personally, success is the result of many accomplishments throughout your whole life. Success is measured by one’s personal happiness, health and doing what you love.
One measure of success is how happy a person is. For most people, being happy simply means when a person is content with their surroundings. “It causes a person to relax and think more clearly, as well as, create more ideas for business and creates a sense of freedom. The single greatest advantage in the modern economy is a happy and engaged workforce,” according to Shawn Achor, author and researcher on happiness. He also said that “scientifically, happiness is a choice. It is a choice about where your

Warren Buffett, the third richest man in the world, measures success by how many people love him. "Basically, when you get to my age, you'll really measure your success in life by how many of the people you want to have love you actually do love you," he said while addressing students at Georgia Tech. "If you get to my age in life and nobody thinks well of you, I don't care how big your bank account is, your life is a disaster. That's the ultimate test of how you have lived your life." Success can eventually lead to wealth, that is why many people think being successful is being rich. Having more money can cause people to take advantage of you and act differently because you have money. If a person focuses on being happy, healthy and doing what they love, they can achieve
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
That, in his eyes, is the only way success can be self-made, by practice and perseverance. Otherwise, one must be at luck with the chances of opportunity handed to them, opening the doors to a road of success, like Bill Joy, and/or be born in a certain time period that maximizes their chances and highly influences their luck, like Bill Gates. He also suggests that parents play a role in the success of their kids, the more involved and present they are in their childhood, the more the child becomes one of greater success than one with a non-involved parent. Last but not least, he mentions the factor of how passionate the individual is about his work. It’s like a small chain reaction, the more meaningful the work is to you, the more hours and effort you will want to put in, the more hours and effort you put in, the better you become at what you do, the better you become, the higher the chances that will bring you success. With children of successful people, the apple usually doesn’t fall far from the tree. Looking down the branch of a family tree that values hard work, that can influence generations of
To many people success means the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. But what it really means is more than just that; is having a beautiful and amazing family of two boys and one girl, and have the best wife. Also, success means reaching my goals or dreams, like starting my new manufactory and insurance business and keep working hard because in order to reach things I must be ready to fall and rise up. But like I said, to obtain where I want to be; I’ll first need to finish college having my Bachelor in Accounting and start from zero.
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.
Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.”
'One has achieved success who has lived well and laughed often.'; This quote seems to sum up what is meant by success. If you are able to laugh often and much then you have definitely achieved happiness. The idea of living well, though, is a very broad statement. In order, then, to define success in relation to this statement, we must first define what it means to live well. There are three levels of success, in my opinion: societal success, personal success, and academic or professional success. If someone can achieve all of these three levels of success, they are someone who has lived well.
Success only truly comes with being happy. Happiness and success are the accomplices of one another. Someone cannot have accompanies without the other. Happiness brings success, and success brings even more happiness. Success, in the dictionary, is defined as the achievement of something desired planned or attempted. Therefore, success cannot be judged by anyone than oneself. It is a personal thing. It is the realization of goals, desires or plans made by one 's self. It is not measurable and yet is something we always use to compare others or appraise someone 's worth. Success, in one form or another, is something that someone should always be striving for. For some people it is something they will do subconsciously, and for others it will be something they will constantly labor for. Because success is something that is different for everyone, it is best that they measure their personal success by their sense of self worth instead of others. To have succeeded is to have lived, as someone wanted; ' it is to have lived well and laughed
Wealthy and successful people believe that no matter what happened, they have created that outcome. If you do not believe you are creating your own world, then you are at the mercy of circumstances. You are then living your life based on chance and it will always be a roller coaster ride, usually downwards.
In Daniel Gilbert’s thought provoking book, stumbling on happiness, he makes the claim, “rich kings are no happier than poor beggars” (174). The idea that money cannot buy happiness has been bouncing off the main stream media for a while now. Although this belief surrounds us, and our surroundings impact the way we think, but in this case I would have to disagree with Gilbert and others who claim the same. Money does buy happiness when it is spent on the right things, making the “green paper” not so useless after all. People who don’t think that money can buy happiness are either not spending it right, or were born into immense wealth and have not been through the struggle of making ends meet.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Is there someone you know that is wealthy and prominent? Do they demonstrate the characteristics of a successful person in today’s society? Media today has effectively convinced our society into accepting an untrue, even possibly hazardous definition of success. Even though Webster’s dictionary defines success as “achieving wealth, respect, and fame,” the definition of success is different for everyone. Society wants us to accept that having money, having big house, and owning multiple cars is the key to happiness, and henceforth, success. This is a lie; success is not having a large amount of money nor does it have to deal with fame.
Success is differentiated by many people and can be argued on what is truly defined as successful. Being successful is defined as being well educated, getting a good education, living in prosperity and most importantly being happy with your life’s present and outcome. Being well educated gives you many opportunities for the future and gives you
Meaning of success has become confusing. We live in the world that tells us that it is important to be rich rather than be happy. We all know examples of people who are famous and rich, but are very unhappy. For example comedian Dave Chappelle had his own TV show and became a famous and a rich person. Yet underneath he was very unhappy; He was so unhappy that he had to stop his show because he had a nervous breakdown from the pressure of being
Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. Success is something we all wish to achieve and even though we have different definitions of success, we all want to success in different aspects of our lives. For some success, success is attaining an education, others it's getting a good job, for others it's being wealthy, and others to start and own a business while for others it's having a family of our own and seeing our children prosper. We all have different metrics of measuring success and we all have different goals, but it is part of human instinct to want success, to want to succeed in everything we do no matter how small or big. Success gives us a feeling of development and growth, a sense of gratification that we are no longer where we used to be, but rather
