There are so many ways to express and share kindness to everyone. The definition of kindness is when a person does something generous to someone else without expecting anything in return. Dalai Lama once said, “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” Dalai Lama did an act of kindness. He maintained peace and nonviolence towards the Chinese people even though they overthrew the Tibetan people. He showed this kindness in 1950 between China and Tibet. He did this act of kindness because it is his job to make peace in the world. He showed kindness through his spiritual leader. If teens commit at least one act of kindness in their school or community every day, the world would be a better place. …show more content…
This act of kindness affects the classmates of the teen and it is shown at school. Kindness is shown between the teen and their classmate and it is implemented when the teen helps their classmate with their homework when they don’t get a question. This is an act of kindness that is shown every day. It is kind because a classmate is helping their fellow classmate when they get stuck and need help. They do not expect anything in return and no one is asking them to help their classmate, they choose to help them on their own. Teens do this to help someone in need and they do this act of kindness because it is the right thing to do. If teens can spread kindness at school, then soon people will spread kindness all over the
Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner provides incredibly valuable insight into the intertwining concepts of identity and personal happiness, as does A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews. Undeniably, a healthy cognisance of personal identity is crucial to mental tranquility and happiness. Insecurity, for example is unilaterally viewed as an unsettling character flaw precisely because of the inherent implication of untrue personal identity. Accurately understanding one’s true personal identity is the backbone of happiness, as seen in The Kite Runner and A Complicated Kindness. Furthermore, it can be said that personal flaws, strengths and collectivist mentalities surrounding both Amir and Nomi’s characters ultimately contribute to their respective happiness or lack thereof, at the end of both stories.
It’s very simple, but creates a world of difference. This means so much to me, in so many ways. Kindness will make a person feel better, even if they aren’t that way themselves. I’ve seen the change simple kindness can make. It can change the outlook on someone’s life, or give someone a little hope.
Prosocial Behavior is exhibited through actions that are directed towards the promotion of another’s well-being. Examples of these behaviors are helping, comforting, sharing, and cooperation. The term was coined in the 1970s and introduced as an antonym for “antisocial behavior.” Extensive study on prosocial behavior was conducted after an incident involving a young girl named Kitty Genovese, wherein she was murdered on her way home from work; she cried for help and although many heard her, none came to her aid until it was far too late (Cherry, 2005). This study aims to determine the students of De La Salle University who display and possess prosocial behavior as well as the reasons as to why they behave prosocially. The researchers conducted
Job 4:16 says, “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.” Kindness is shown in a person’s character. Many people are afraid to display it because they are worried of what the outcome may be or what people would think of them for trying to be kind. In Love Kindness, by Barry H. Corey, we learn that “kindness needs to be rediscovered” (Corey xiii). It is easily seen by the way one person acts or speaks towards someone that we can tell if kindness is being radiated off of them or not. Within my reflection, I will be comparing niceness and kindness and the major difference between the two of those, as well as how we can keep our “firm center” and “soft edges”.
the historical events, mixed his good will, explored truth behind the events, and created a peaceful
The virtue of kindness is not meek it is not niceness. Kindness holds firm to its foundation and values, but it does it in a way that is gentle. Kindness is not naïve, it is wise and discerning (Corey, 211). People confuse being nice as kindness because on the outside both are soft. The inside is what shows the difference. Niceness has no substance, it will go wherever society takes it. Kindness is different, it has a firm, solid center (Corey xv). The components of soft edges and firm centers make kindness warm and inviting and yet it remains deeply rooted to its core beliefs.
According to the Nation Bullying Prevention Center, one out of four students report being bullied through the school year. Those children are picked on at school because of their differences from the “normal”. In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill A Mockingbird, a young girl named Scout see’s certain characters shunned and made fun of because of their differences and cannot understand why these community members hold onto these prejudices. Atticus, Boo, and Tom all go through adversity brought on by the people from Maycomb. The book To Kill A Mockingbird shows how individuals are treated based of their differences.
An individual who preaches on the idea that one should be kind to others would be hypocrite if he/ she was not kind to his or her own self. It is similar to how one would shoot out a compliment and in the process, thus receiving back a “Thank you” response, but if she was to receive one herself she would feel quite reluctant to take on that flattering remark because she might not feel as though
The act of kindness comes by very seldom. “Being kind and generous to people will take you very far in life” is what my great grandmother always told me. Smiling from ear to ear, eyes gazing across the room and that special touch are all it took for her to make someone day. Many days were made if you were surrounded by her and saw that big, bright, and beautiful smile. Soft hands are what she had from giving her entire life. No one went without, you could be a total stranger but she would give you her last.
Don't do it only for the people you like and respect--that's easy--but also for the ones who drive you crazy and those you don't even know. True kindness lies in the act of giving without the expectation of getting something in
It's not about giving people things, but more so about one’s daily gestures and what one says to everyone each day. Being kind might be tough at times but in the end avoiding a rude comment is much better than saying one. There are so many ways to show others that being kind is important so don’t be afraid to try some out. Looking into it further, if everyone in the world was kind, we could avoid conflicts from small fights on the streets to world wars because everyone would be able to communicate and compromise with one another in a civilized
Kindness is the key to most everything. Being kind means taking the high road, even when someone has wronged you. It means serving other people, even under inconvenient circumstances. It involves looking for the good in others, and even helping them to see the good in themselves. Kindness is spreading happiness to make other’s day better and by making them smile. Kindness is defending those who are picked on by others, sitting by those who are lonely, and saying hi to someone in the hall. Kindness is being someone who wants to build up those around them.
Aesop once stated, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” In this time period, many people around the globe only focus on their life, and they do not focus on lifting others up. Kindness is one word that can change lives, even when the person that shows kindness doesn’t even know the impact they are making. One act of kindness does not appear to be very important, but every act makes an impact. The world is full of hatred, war, and terrorism, but anybody can start to make a change. Some reasons that any act of kindness has an impact include other people needing positivity, the start of a chain reaction, and the benefit of other people in the world.
A perfect society would consist of an atmosphere where random acts of kindness were a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Not only does one experience a sensation of relief and joy whenever performing an act of kindness, the deed also affects the person whom the kindness was directed towards. A random act of kindness is a widely known subject. However, the effects of the action are not as well known. In today’s society, between all of the cars, cellphones, money, jobs, new technology etc. it becomes easier to be wrapped up or conceited with one’s self, forgetting about others. A random act of kindness can bring a person out of this conceited stage. A random act of kindness is doing a selfless act, big or small, without expecting anything in return (Random Acts of Kindness). There are a plethora of affects that come along with doing this specific task. For example, by carrying out a random act of kindness, it affects the presenter along with the receiver psychologically as well as physically.
Every man, every human serve our gigantic society and mold into a way that we have it today. For example a taxi driver assists public till their destination or place they wish for. But there must be a question in your mind that what about a student, what role does he/she has because he is not a qualified person till now? Well, the answer of this question is very simple; we students also have mandatory and various roles in the society. Students like me, have small work that form into a duty. Giving a smile to a stranger that may make his day is a small step to a big role. For example my neighbor is an old citizen, I gave a smile to her and it made her day, she feels that there is someone with her all the time, someone who is supporting her in all her difficulties. It is not necessary that I have to deal with a big...
