Happiness, something that everyone strives for, but not everyone achieves. Happiness is intangible, it’s a feeling. There is no pill to take, or spell that will make magically make people happy. In “ If you're happy, and you know it” by Kwame Appiah he said, Happiness is a feeling, you are happy if you think you are happy.”(449). To me that means happiness is just a state of mind. Anyone can be happy if they put themselves into that state of happiness. I personal have a hard time being in a happy state of mind all the time, dealing with school, family, having anxiety it’s difficult to stay happy. To say happiness is the main goal of life, it depends. For myself happiness is what I hope to achieve, but it’s not guarantee for everyone. Some people’s goals in life are to be either rich, famous, to be in love, travel,have a family, or to be happy. While other think they can have it all and it will overall will be happiness or lead to the road of happiness. I think it should be a goal or a want for people, because when you ask friends or family what they want out of life often times they will say “ I want to be happy, to have a family, nice home, or to be happy.” To others it might all be the same …show more content…

I would say no, their should not be a right to happiness.Everyone should be able to live and be happy, if it is something they want. I know happiness is not something we can buy and keep, but there should not be someone telling us that we can not be happy or have happiness. When I asked my family and friends, I was shocked by the response of them. Both my parents said thought that there should be a right to happiness. They felt that not all deserve this right, simply because some people have bad things and should have not right, while other individuals haven't worked to be happy. On the other hand my brother and friends agreed with myself, that there should not be a right to happiness. Everyone deserves a chance of happiness regardless of the consequences of there past. But there is a part of me that knows not everyone has the ability to find their happiness. Some people feel as though they cannot achieve happiness, or that they don't deserve it.
