People build relationships upon trust and compatibility, but what exactly does the word
‘’friend’’ mean? The person who keeps you grounded, the eyes needed when you can't see
what is realistic and what is not, the ears that listen. A friendship could be a long lasting thing or
a short lived moment between two people. A sudden change in life, distance, or betrayal could
sever this friendship.
Why would a sudden life change affect me and my friends friendship? Both may be in
different parts in your life which may need more of your attention, such as a baby; also a new
job could also be a major reason of ending a friendship. Your friend may be holding you back
from succeeding in other courses of your life and you may not even

realize it. Moreover, you would almost naturally distance yourself from the other person to reach your goals in life. In her poem ‘Changes’ Yanill Rodriguez writes ‘’But somewhere along the line, we slowly came apart. I was here, and you were there it tore a hole in my heart’’ For example, me, my best friend got married and had a beautiful baby boy she no longer had time for me and my silly childish games. She was now a wife and mother of one with other bigger responsibilities and I had just started my senior year of high school. We were both in different places in our lives; we no longer had anything in common. Resulting in a distant relationship slowly dissipating to nothing. Distance could be something overcome if you truly keep contact with one another, but in most cases that isn't what happens. When a friend moves away to another state or country it then begins to test the strength of your friendship.
At first you may call, text, email, skype etc.
However, after a short term you will start to meet new people and begin to adventure the new
location you’re in. Long phone calls and text messages now becomes rare phone call and one
word messages. The friendships becomes diluted.
We trust our friends not to betray us, and to share our happiness with us. One never
imagines a friend would be capable of betraying your trust. Betrayal may start off as a beautiful
friendship, and end up becoming pure hatred for one another; a constant battle to shun one
another. They become so caught up in themselves and irrational issues. Sometimes they
change into something you don't even know; they turn on you. Whether it be that they change or
stop carrying it ALWAYS hurts, a lot. You lose trust for the other person and as you go on you
may try to pick up the broken pieces, but you will never have the same relationship you had
before. As a result, you will begin to drift apart.
Hence more, one needs to find comfort in a friendship to allow it to grow. A friendship
could be easily destroyed than it is to build a long strong healthy
one.
When that happens we slowly start to drift apart, a former friend is now nothing more than a memory. What is it that makes us stop communicating with each other? In my case it was a lifestyle change. My friend Kalicia and I were so close. We told each other everything. When I found out I was pregnant she was the first person I wanted to tell. At first she was beyond excited. I stayed with her and her family for the first half of my pregnancy. Then I moved to American Falls and everything stated to change. I was eight months pregnant when it all happened. Kalicia had invited me up to her house for my birthday celebration, but being that far along and having to work in the morning all I wanted to do was sleep. The next day, while I was at work she continued to call me multiple times, I knew something was wrong at that point. When I called her back she told me that her mom had passed out and stopped breathing. They had to do CPR on her until the ambulance arrived. I remember my heart dropping because she was like a second mom and I was so excited for her to meet my daughter. As I scrambled trying to get my shift covered so I could leave, I got the call that she had passed away. I remember that day like it was yesterday, the sky was dark, everything seemed grey, and heaven had gained another angel. I had never met such a vibrant and enthusiastic woman. She was understanding of every situation. Soon I felt

middle of paper ... ... Friendship is based on the intimacy, so whether you are just a convenience friend, if the relationship is based on good deed, the convenience friend could still become a close friend. That’s why the most important thing in friendship is a good intimacy. Nobody can live a life without a friend, so we need to open our hearts to let others have a chance to be friends with us.
...rspectives and opportunities. It is friendship that has the power to keep a person close to home. And it is friendship that gives a person the support to leave their home.
In actuality what are friends? Friends are individuals who are there for everything and make life worth living. In the article, “Friendship: The Laws of Attraction”, critic Karen Karbo proclaims friendships possess various correlations and factors which enable lasting relationships. There are many stages in which relationships have to experiences in order to enable it everlasting quality. The evolution from a common stranger to an acquaintance and finally to a best friend status requires many aspects to be developed within the relationships. The necessary components within any relationship consist of self-disclosure, reciprocity, intimacy, intuitive understanding, social-identity support, communication, supportiveness,
At the very least perhaps we should consider whether the term friendship should be spent so easily and whether we should consider it such an abundant commodity. Friendships should take time. As Aristotle said, "though the wish for friendship comes quickly, friendship does not" (1155a) Discovering the soul or core of another person is one of the ultimate goals of friendship. We must remember that this takes time. We must consider the metaphor of one another as onions with many layers, the peeling back of which should be done carefully and may even cause some tears.
... way of two friends. This implication is not right because friendship should not be built by “a texture of wine and dreams”, but with the “tough fibre of the human heart” (42). Heart of trust is the basic of friendship because in friendship, we need to fight against the difficulties to find a true happiness. Fighting against the obstacle together proves whether it is a true friendship or not.
Changes in friends happen to everybody for different reasons. This is evident when looking at the way physical separation between people leads to a weakening in friendship and then an end in friendship all together as time continues. While keeping in touch with a few people is natural, moving or a change in setting will cause an end in friendship because new people will replace old friends from the previous setting and a place’s social environment may change that friend into someone completely new.
However, other adults strongly disagree with the idea of friendship being an important matter. It is even possible to say that adults do not have as many friends and consider the concept of friendship as such an important part because of the way their lives are structured. To begin with, most of the adults’ jobs are related to their jobs. It is the office or the workplace, they spend most of their time, and it is the colleagues, they spend most of their time interacting with. In other words, they do not have much time to socialize with other friends of their own.
Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits.
As Bernard Wolf quotes ^It takes a long time to grow an old friendship^. Friendship has its good and bad times. There comes a time when the relationship is just not working. It is preoccupied with disagreements and quarrels. It is on the verge of destruction. One must have the patience to deal with such frustrations.
A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example, when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support. There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you, involved in your everyday life. To find good friends you should look for such traits as being kind, trustworthy, loyal and dependable.
Therefore, we should choose good friends who are really willing to help us. We must avoid those people who come forward with selfish motives because they may put us into trouble at any
Friends plays very important role in life, you can share your worries with your friends, you can share your best movement of life with friends and enjoy it. Our family are the closest people in our lives. But there are certain dark secrets about us which we can’t open to our family, but our friends are aware of them. In other words, friends are your third eye to look for you.
Experience: You’ll fully experience the change and the reality of it. You may feel a sadness that you can’t continue on in your old situation. (family and friends can help at this stage by creating a positive attitude during this stage).
