Friendship. Such a word that has more than one definition to many different people. However, to Merriam-Webster, it simply means a state of being friends. But, not to me. Friendship, in my definition, is that one person who I think of when I need comfort the most, a person who would never leave me even when I want to be alone. Friendship is that one person who I can pour my heart out and not fear of being judged for it. Friendship, to me, is the reason why I am still genuinely happy in this stressful life. When I was younger I wasn't known for being gregarious. In fact, I was a quiet child when I joined a school. I would keep to myself and only speak when it was necessary. Nevertheless, I was accustomed to having lonely days for a while, but
Webster defines friendship as the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends. Growing up you realize that every relationship is tested throughout time and some make it through that time and others do not.
To be a friend has almost certainly become a role of infinite definition. Agreeing with author Joyce Xinran, after reading her article, “Friending: The Changing Definition of Friendship in the Social Media Era,” the modern idea of a friend has changed in its meaning of intimacy. People have considered no boundaries when allowing one the position of associate. The act of being mildly pleasant will promote even a stranger to the status of friend. To solve this issue people must realize that receiving a simple electronic request to be a friend is hardly mastering the technique of camaraderie.
By definition a friend is a person who provides assistance and support. We have different groups of friends for different purposes in our lives. Although there are many different categories of friends, Marion Winik author of “What are Friends For?” mentions that some of the more common groups consist of the faraway, work, family, and former friends (132). We keep our friends because we value their loyalty, communication, support, and dependability.
I would define friendship as complete trust and love between two people. Many people believe that this kind of behavior is reciprocated between two individuals without any expectations. A friend is someone who also provides you with support and whom you can rely on to celebrate special moments with. A friend also comes with many great attributes; such as loyalty, honesty, compassion, trust, and morality. Today’s friend is viewed as someone who shares happiness, common values, history, and equality with another. For example, Aristotle and Cicero both wrote dialogues about friendship and its significance on mankind. Therefore, the key issues that will be discussed are: their views on the similarities of friendship, the differences between friends,
According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of friendship is “the relationship between friends.” However, there is no true way someone can truly define an actual friendship because every friendship goes through different obstacles. In the novel The Chosen by Chaim Potok, two unlikely individuals that would never be thought of as friends slowly create a bond of friendship that could never be broken. In the novel the theme of how friendship is important is revealed by the imagery, symbolism, and external conflict.
My personal definition of "friendship" is a feeling or emotion expressed in such a way that another feels wanted and important, a relationship between a person or persons where everyone has some companion to talk to when their in need of one. I would define friends as people whom you can have several types of relations with and feel several emotions for that person. Someone that one might go to in time of need. However, friendships differ between people. For example, the friendship that someone may have between them and their parents would be different than the friendship they might have with someone their age. There are many different friendships that people have. Friendships can exist between best friends, friends, lovers, children, parents, siblings, and many more. All of these differ in some way.

When friends are facing challenges in difficult situations, friends should be able to offer pieces of advice and protection and that is known as a true friend. For example, when you have a problem, you usually contact with each other by phone, text messaging, Facebook, face-to-face or twitter to tell your friend about it, to give you some advice on what you should do in this situation. Having friends means that you help each other through your situation when they ask for your help, that is what makeup a friendship. Having a conversation is another important thing to friends that leads to good friendship. Even under all circumstances and conditions, friendship is a mutual trust that should maintain at all costs. Friendship could be understood in a different way to different people. For instance, to most people, the definition of friendship is known as mutual trust and normal companionship. If a person finds a true friendship they found a priceless treasure.
There are many valuable things in life like family, sports, school but what about friendship? To live life without friendship is something no one should ever go through. Friendship is a necessity to living a successful life. Friendship occurs when someone is a supporter, gives assistance, and is attached to someone all the while genuinely taking care of them when they are hurt (The definition of friend, 1995-2002). A good and healthy friendship can be defined fro individuals as when someone has his or her own support system, a friend being loyal, and will always have genuine and mutual trust.
Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits.
A True Friendship What comes to your mind when you think of a friend? Is it someone you see on a daily basis? Someone you have some fun conversations with? Just a little advice, not everybody you think is your friend is actually your friend. Friendship is a relationship that all the individuals can create by themselves. Though it is not a god gifted relationship like that of the relationship of a mother, father, sister, brother or any of the other family but still it is one of the best relations an individual can possess. A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example, when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support. There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you, involved in your everyday life. To find good friends you should look for such traits as being kind, trustworthy, loyal and dependable.
To me, the definition of friendship is a person whom one can trust. It is a bond one creates, that can last a lifetime and it consists of difficulties and many memories. A friend gets rid of the feeling of being lonely, and that person is always there in times of hardship or happiness. However, the important part of obtaining a long lasting friendship is to start an acquaintance and to make time to understand each other. It is not as easy as it sounds, and so the question is “how does a friendship begin?”
