What makes a person a hero? Many things make a hero. We are not born a hero, but our actions can. In dark times, a hero should shield light and give hope. A hero is someone who is kind and courageous.
There are many characteristics that make a hero and kindness is one of them. School Resource Officer Rachel Freeman, who used to a detective now protects Coppell Middle School North. Born in Singapore, Officer Freeman moved to America and became a police officer, but unlike many police officers who are intimidating, Freeman is very kind and friendly. Another example of kindness was when two neighbors, unknown saved a 90 years old couple from the flood waters of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. This kindness means the neighbors are willing to help and support everyone the best one can. Not only does kindness supports, but also means a simple act of kindness will inspire many other acts causing a huge spread of kindness. This enables more people to be saved and feel less lonely than before. Kindness supports, encourages, saves, and gives compassion to people to protect many people better and what is meaningful to someone, which a hero should have. Courage takes many things and for a hero one must have courage.
Geer from the book, Sweet Venom is a rich high schooler, who recently started battling monsters when comforted by two people who turned out to be sisters. Geer faced many fears and became a huntress, a female who battles monsters. This shows no matter how afraid a person is if, that person can stand up for one’s belief and change the world for the better, millions will be protected. Furthermore, people who have courage do the best of abilities, so the protected do not have to worry and have freedom. Martin Luther King Jr. is a historic African American leader who leaded in the Civil Rights Movement with no violence, even if many feared King Jr. was directly challenging the law. This shows that one must have courage to stand up against the majority to show what one believes in. Furthermore,courage is the ability to do what one’s self believes in, even if one is afraid. By having courage, many others are inspired to conquer the fears to do what is right. Courage is to stand up for a belief or beliefs. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
