Without a set plan achieving success in anything will be very difficult. Building a direct plan to achieve something gives the sense of direction and decreases self doubt and other mental obstacles. Tom Corley state in his book “Rich Habits”, “People who are headed for success think for the long term. They have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. They also come up with ways to achieve them and hold themselves accountable.” Creating long term goals is a very effective way to keep moving forward and progressing in life. Writing goals out and visually seeing it everyday as a constant reminder makes a goal more significant. Such visual aid may provide a reinforcement and stimulate a response of action. By taking action and attempting to complete a goal, you are one step closer than you would be if nothing was done. The main reason people don't achieve success and their goal is because they allow negative thoughts and distractions to sway them off path. To be successful, an individual must be very mentally strong to overcome and prevail. When I have set personal goals for myself, I always commit myself compared to when I would just simply think about achieving

What does success mean to you? I think the idea of success is affected by the social system. In America and Hong Kong, which are capitalistic societies affected by the American Dream, success means money and fame. In other societies, success might have different meanings. Some people said money and fame is the true meaning of success, but I think that the true meaning of success is to follow the interest of your own and being good at it, but not money and fame. Overemphasizing on these two factors can only lead to negative effects. Therefore I think the definition of success in capitalistic countries should not be focused on money and fame, because it restricts people from following their real dreams.

Success means to live a life in alignment with what brings us real joy. In my case, “success-joy” comes in many guises. At times, in being persistent with my current dreams, others, investing time and energy in what makes my life shine, and that is, without a doubt, when my life is at service of humanity and when I cultivate happy and healthy close relationships. I tend to define success as a state of being, a constant process of unfolding rather than a place to arrive. It is the journey of getting to know ourselves, in order to fully occupy every aspect of what we are; a forever changing aspiration, a state of being in which we realize that life’s greatest rewards spring from our capacity to relate to adversity in innovative ways. I have also discovered that real success shows up again when we debunk and deconstruct every single stereotype and assumption we have about ourselves. In this way, we feel capable to challenge what is commonly accepted as wisdom and then we have the opportunity to change and integrate our values with greater ones. There is an enormous joy when we feel free to play with the possible new scenarios that our imagination and creativity compelled us to try. A successful state of being is alert and grounded within us with the certainty, that the choices we embark on are in resonance with what we consider is the truth of what we are in that precise
