If someone asked me how I would define “truth” it would not be a dictionary definition. Giving this world a dictionary definition would not do it any of the justice it deserves. “Truth” is a very complex word and has different meaning to everyone. The Oxford dictionary defines “truth” as “that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality. I bet the reaction most people give is the eye roll, because the synonym of the word is used in the definition. The way we are brought up or the nurture aspect of our lives shape the way our perception is today. “Truth” is what we are taught to be the “truth”. Usually ‘truth” is deemed to be real and most of the time a positive gesture. We use “truth” to describe the reality that we experience. The “truth” is a way of describing how we perceived a certain situation. Most of the way we look at “truth” depends on barely any of our own experiences. Everything we perceive as “truth” is whatever we have been told was true. Ever since we were little we have been taught what “truth” was and what was supposed to be “truthful”. Going all the way back to the basics of when this had all started we were just little kids. When we were taught what pigs were, and what color they were, our little lessons of “truth” started. We were taught that pigs are pink or brown animals, then they would show a picture or give a detailed description on what a pig is supposed to be. They told us that it was fact that pigs can only be those colors and pigs can only look a certain way, that was the ‘truth” we were taught. James Schall, explains the nature of the universe as an open door to seek guidance through the knowledge of the great thinkers as an attempt to better comprehend the ultimate truth of our reality as a whole, to understand how things perfectly align with each other and how to find the ultimate truth that humanity continuously seeks. The definition of truth is the epitome of what we we all perceive to be reality. Truth is what we sometimes think about in the back of our head, but we are unsure of whether this truth is really “true.” The objective correlative is another term that is used to refer to truth. The objective correlative is getting enough people to feel the same emotion and agree upon it. Objective correlative also refers to the objective truth or the facts. It’s trying to get the subjective truth to become objective, then subjective for each person. The idea of objectivity is that it is concrete, measurable, and tested. This idea of objectivity relates to the characteristics of what facts are.
That's why a series of half-truths and exaggerations are each a small part of the truth. The truth is an enigmatic cloud, a mystery; at its very core is truth. This truth can never be obtained, only hinted upon. The ideas that make up this cloud are each different yet circle a similar theme, which is the real truth. Some of these concepts may be at opposite ends and completely dissimilar, but are each a part of the truth.
Truth is comparative; it is not exact, specifically in nature. We human beings describe it as something that truthful and make sense and something that did happen. However, since we as human beings have come into struggle on what the "TRUTH" really is then that already suggest we have difficulties defining what the "TRUTH" is. Truth by dictionary definition is a wholly objective concept: it’s described as “that that is in accordance with the fact or reality,” assuming a single reality-defined as the conjectured state of events-viewed through an omniscient and impartial lens. However once you introduce individual humans with all their prejudices into the equation the truth becomes subjective, every person allowing their personal set of ideals to cloud their judgement and act on their definition of the “truth”, whatever it may be. “Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away”- Elvis Presley. In my mind, truth is defined as being in accordance with fact or reality. There will always be truth to every situation, as it is only possible for something to occur in one specific way. The problem encompassing the idea of truth is the reality that only one retelling of a specific situation can be the full truth. Each individual interprets situations differently. For this reason, in order for the truth to be told, one must simply state what was seen, leaving their personal emotions out of the situation. A story can be said to be true when it accurately portrays the account of which is being told.
The concept of truth has been a major topic for discussions and discourses, there are multiple theories based on truth. In the works of G. E. Moore and Bertrand Russell truth is defined as facts, and corresponds to the way things actually are. Can we truly know when something can be considered true or false. The truth can be something that appeals to a person, or that it can reason with a person's knowledge that they have already develop. The knowledge we possess can shape the way we think, so does this also change the in the truth that a person sees. Our knowledge also limits us to what we considered to be true. In our century every year we discover something new so our truth is constantly changing. One of the conflicts that also comes to mind when talking about true and false is whether a true belief counts as knowledge depends on inherently imprecise judgments concerning whether the believer is accidentally right. To analyze the claim I am going to look at the three different theories of truth and how in everything true there is a false aspect to it. The theories are first, the correspondence theory. Second, coherence theory, and lastly pragmatic theory.
What exactly is truth? What is true? These questions are two completely different questions. In order to answer what is true, you must first determine what truth actually is. If we look in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, we see the definition that says “The things that are true”. This is not what we are looking for in a definition of this word, but really there is no defining line between what is true, and what is not.

Truth can be defined as conformity to reality or actuality and in order for something to be “true” it must be public, eternal, and independent. If the “truth” does not follow these guidelines then it cannot be “true.” Obviously in contrary anything that goes against the boundaries of “truth” is inevitably false. True and false, in many cases does not seem to be a simple black and white situation, there could sometimes be no grounds to decide what is true and what is false. All truths are a matter of opinion. All the truths that we know are subjective truths (i.e. mind-dependent truths) and there is nothing more to truth than what we are willing to assert as true (Hammerton, Matthew). A thing to me can be true while for the other person it may not be true. So it depends from person to person and here the role of perception comes into play. As truth is a vital part of our knowledge, the distinctions between what is true and what is false, shape and form the way we think and should therefore be considered of utmost importance. We often face this situation in real life through our learning curves and our pursuit of knowledge to distinguish between what is true and what is false. The idea of there being an absolute truth or also known as universal truth has been debated for centuries. It depends on many factors such as reason, perception and emotion.
In my Theory of Knowledge class, I learned that belief and truth can be very contrasting ideas. In my opinion, I can believe something that may not necessarily be true. However, there can also be truth that is impossible for me to believe. Belief is a mental state in which someone is confident in the existence of something, but may not necessarily have objective proof to support their claim. Truth is objective and public; it is eternal and unchanging without biast. People can believe in something different and can also all believe in the same idea. The overlap between truth and belief creates knowledge; therefore, an acquisition of knowledge will bring us further to what we believe to be a ‘truth’. Knowledge can be acquired in several ways, such as using emotion, reason and sense perception. These ways of knowing affect how we perceive reality, and help us create our beliefs.
