Beauty
"She is so beautiful", the girl said as she gazed with a loss of words as the woman brushed right past her. Beautiful. What does it mean?
Beauty is subjective. What one person loves, another loathes. Some might find things a waste, while others might find it as gold. Plato once said, “beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.” According to his views, beauty is something that cannot be fully defined through what we see, hear, touch, taste, or smell. Of course, that is because different objects are seen in different ways by different people. This is why one might believe beauty is defined through the experience. The idea of beauty is not just a physical appearance. Relatively, it is an intuitive experience. However, natural beauty comes from the heart and soul and when it is devoted, it is expressed as a charming spirit that is not easy to overcome.
What about outer beauty? Can you have outer beauty, say a majestic waterfall, a beautiful sunset, or stars in the night sky, without inner beauty? One can be attracted to the

What exactly is it? By definition, inner beauty is often described as something expressed through a psychological aspect rather than physical one. It is not just a feeling, but something you can see too. You may jump to the conclusion that you never truly notice someone’s inner beauty right away. Believe it or not, you are only aware of someone’s physical appearance for a moment, until their inner self really starts to show. For example, you might speak to someone for a minute or two and you come to realize maybe they aren’t so pleasant. As you continue the conversation, you come to pick up on some of their traits and qualities, without even knowing, you find that person more beautiful. Physical appearance may be good, more like a bonus, but it is someone’s inner belief that comes to the picture. Think about it, even Sullivan from Monsters Inc. is nice and loveable wants his love for Mike really starts to show, don’t you
A saying commonly heard is: “Beauty is on the inside.” In the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, the main character, Tally, is confronted with the meaning of beauty. All of her life she has grown up thinking she was ugly, because you can only be pretty after your operation on your sixteenth birthday. Tally has lived with the fact that, because she is normal, she is ugly. Tally’s best friend, Peris, was three months older than her. She went to find him in New Pretty Town, but she was not allowed to be there. Because she was still an “ugly,” Tally had to sneak around in a mask to meet Peris. As she sneaks back out of the Mansion, where Peris lives, Tally sets off the fire alarms. She meets a new friend, who is also sneaking out New Pretty Town. Her name is Shay, and they become friends as Shay teaches Tally how to ride a hoverboard. The girls become best friends, and Shay shows Tally
This effect leads to realizing the beauty in everyone; their physical aspects, talents and minds. Further allowing for the recognition of the beauty in knowledge, understanding, and beauty itself. Objects and concepts do not possess beauty, but beauty does possess them. Once beauty is recognized in all things, love easily follows. It is human nature to love physical beauty, but realizing beauty takes many forms in all things, it can be loved by anyone.
Just what is beauty? We all have our own definition of beauty because everyone has there own distinctive style and attractiveness. Therefore, we must respect why some people find beauty in things while others would not simply because beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder. Now we all are attracted to all sorts of things, but have you ever asked yourself why? Is it simply because it is beautiful or does the meaning go beyond that? I tend to believe the latter is true so lets take love for example. It is the most beautiful thing in the world because you get a sense of being, are likely attracted to the person you are in love with, it stimulates you and you probably feel complete. However, beauty does not always have to be attractive or unique it is what taps into your emotions and causes you to want more and more.
soul, and realize that beauty extends far beyond physical being or be content with the
Another reason to love the inner beauty is that outer beauty can be a faked, a pretended one but inner beauty can not lie. The look of a person can be easily changed through ways like makeup, dressing, or even plastic surgery. Lastly, Inner beauty will help people connect emotionally, this is what something outer beauty will never achieve because it is not possible to be connected emotionally without discovering what the person is like on the inside. Remember, ones face will be conquered by wrinkles as time go by, but their inner beauty will live forever and it will never
As stated by ‘The Duchess’, Margaret Wolfe Hungerford’s famous quote “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” As a result, beauty can describe as an inspiring view present in everything that can be seen. To begin, beauty can be viewed in a building as large and extravagant as the white house to the small hometown market or even in the sight of a single flower to a field filled with a million flowers. Also, beauty can be seen in the sunrise over the peaks of the mountains and also in the sunset glowing across a calm lake surrounded by the bright colors of the fall trees. Furthermore, people have physical beauty, which can be found in a person’s features, figure, or complexion. In the poem “Beauty & Dress” by Robert Herrick he explains the beauty he sees in his wife. Herrick states,
Beauty is a term we all hear and use very often, but just like many words in our vocabulary, we do not stop, think about, and process what it truly means. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, beauty is the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Based on that definition and what we internally think ourselves, we can formulate some general image in our mind. Some consensus qualities are bright colors, a flowing feel, and a feeling of calmness. Based on those generalizations, then the idea of something beautiful being sublime is impossible. But is it? In my opinion, beauty and sublimity can coexist within an individual’s perception
Many of us can never hope to achieve such a connection with nature. According to Shelley, it is the highest ideal yet I know I will never get to fully know and appreciate it. I still wonder why Beauty was so graceful to Shelley. Nevertheless, our lies in the fact that few of us may attain the benediction of Beauty and therefore lead the rest of us to it, even if it is just for a few moments.
First of all, the idea of beauty is not only based on a physical appearance of a person or object; beauty comes from the inner self. Natural and real beauty creates from within the heart of individuals. When a real beauty develops, it is expressed as a charming, attractive, and glamorous soul that is hard for one to contain. If a lady is beautiful on the inside, she is also beautiful on the outside because her body is an expression of soul and mind. Inner beauty creates a positive attitude towards oneself, others, and the environment. One real life example about inner beauty is the story of Chantelle Winnie. Chantelle was born with a skin condition vitiligo, which makes her different from other people.
Everyone has their own view and opinion on what pretty is, that it got lost in translation. The true meaning of it is gone. It’s supposed to mean, “to be attractive in a delicate way without being truly beautiful or handsome.” But everyone defines beauty on how you look. Your exterior.
There is a saying “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” What one individual considers beautiful may not be beautiful to another. Many people in this world have their own definition of what beauty is. Beauty can come from inside or the outside. To me, beauty is not only something that pleases the eyes. Beauty is a quality that pleases or delights the senses or mind. Unfortunately, society makes it nearly impossible to see our own beauty. Most girls are inclined to take a quick look into a compact mirror or run a few fingers through their hair, sizing themselves up with the nearest advertisement featuring a flawless bottle blonde. Some may go a bit further, running an endless list of insecurities
Beauty is a combination of likable qualities, such as shape, color, and form. Or at least that’s the most common definition. The second you see a stunning man or women you have already described them as beautiful. But soon you might realize you just described them based solely on what they look like, not what they act like. The word beauty is a well used word, with many different meanings.
Across the globe, few people have difficulty recognizing someone who is considered beautiful. Beauty is often sought after, revered, and sometimes interpreted as a personal virtue. Standards of beauty are usually social marker determining cultural status, social acceptance and suitability as a mate.
"Beauty consists of an eternal, variable element, whose quantity is excessively difficult to determine" (Baudelaire). Baudelaire is saying that beauty is very difficult to determine because of its many details and multiple meanings. Beauty is like a philosophical phenomenon that isn’t really understood. I would have to say that it's what one sees in another, a descriptive term given to a person by another person to show that they posses an attractive trait.
Beauty is a concept. An idea that changes from person to person. We put on makeup, do our hair, paint our nails, and buy the latest clothing in an effort to satisfy those around us and conform to their idea of physical beauty. By doing this, we often forget who we are and lose our inner beauty. Although many people focus on physical beauty, inner beauty is more important because it is permanent and a representation of a person’s true self.
